    The Definative Sega Genesis!!!

At first glance there’s not much to this console. With a quick and painless firmware upgrade I loaded the games from Amazon’s Sega Genesis Mega Drive 820 in 1 cartridge SD card in a GAME file and BOOM! Now not only do I have every Sega 16 bit game I want, but it looks great on HD and has save slates. Truly an unknown gem. This is the way the Sega Genesis should be experienced.

Decent but could’ve been way better.

I did buy this at another retailer but I do alot of reviews on Amazon to help with people’s questions they may have.First off, the games list isn’t bad. You have some timeless arcade games on here. Galaga, Super Street Fighter 2, Dig Dug, Burger Time, Forgotten Worlds (perfect port) and many others. It also has handful of console games but oddly, they are NES titles (Mega Man 1 & 2) and a few others. Yes, you can add roms but they HAVE to be Saga Genisus (obviously spelled wrong) format .bin roms. The graphics are ok but they are very blocky and the imbedded scanline option is awful. Then again, I am playing on a 65″ 4K TV. Playing on a smaller TV might be better. The supplied 2, 6 button controllers are not the best. The buttons are fine and the size is just right but the D pad doesn’t register well. Overall, they feel cheap and have no weight to them. There is also noticeable input lag so you feel like you’re playing horribly. The sound is ok but it does get choppy and pops here and there but not enough to be bothersome. It does have an SD card slot which is used for adding roms or saving game files. The power cord is a standard micro usb. All in all, this is an ok “toy” but it definitely isn’t for the die hard game fans. If the above is a deal breaker…..go for a raspberry pi instead.

5 Stars For the Price and a Casual Retro Gaming Fan

The price finally came down on this to where it was worth the price and also some units were sold by sellers who were selling them fulfilled by Amazon by the time you read this message that may not be the case. For the amount I paid for this unit I could have played these games a “whomping” 75 times at 1 quarter per play, so this is like eating infinite pizza, you can play forever. We have become so spoiled with the Internet and technology. My nephew got one for his birthday last summer from one of his aunts who just went out and grabbed the first thing on sale that she saw that looked cool, and I had the green eyes of jealously, it is rare that I feel jealous of 11 year old but I got the feeling he was not going to appreciate what he had, he actually did, we had fun playing Dig Dug together, when the price came down on Amazon I decided to get one for my vintage video game collection. The unit is durable enough, the fun factor is great for those that grew up playing these games. A feature that I have never ever seen before used is a rewind feature allowing you to rewind the game when you die, this is not available on all the games but is cool for the games it does work with. Most of the these are the arcade version, arcade versions are known for being more challenging, this was because those old arcades made tons of money off us addicted kids during the 80s and early 90s :)It is nice to be able to play some of these games again, and when you play them you can pop in extra quarters (digitally not real ones) for FREE, this allows you to see parts of the games that you probably never saw as a kid. So with the rewind feature and the free quarters you should be able to continue playing and see many parts of the games you could not see before! Here is a list of the games:1. 1942 2. Act-Fancer Cybernetick Hyper Weapon 3. Astro Fantasia 4. Bad Dudes vs. Dragon-ninja 5. Break Thru 6. BurgerTime 7. Burnin’ Rubber 8. Champions World Class Soccer 9. Cluster Buster 10. Commando 11. Crude Buster 12. Darwin 4078 13. Dig Dug 14. Disco No.1 15. Edward Randy, The Cliffhanger 16. Express Raider 17. Fighting Ice Hockey 18. Forgotten Worlds 19. Galaga 20. Ghouls ‘n Ghosts 21. Heavy Barrel 22. Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja 23. Joe & Mac Returns 24. Judge Dredd 25. Lock ‘n Chase 26. Mappy 27. Mega Man 28. Mega Man 2 29. Meikyu Hunter G 30. Phelios 31. Pirate Ship Higemaru 32. Pro Tennis 33. Pro Bowling 34. Rally-X 35. Rootin’ Tootin’ 36. Scrum Try 37. Sly Spy (Secret Agent) 38. Side Pocket 39. Shoot Out 40. Side Arms Hyper Dyne 41. Sky Kid 42. Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers 43. Strider 44. Super BurgerTime 45. Super Doubles Tennis 46. Super Pool III 47. Super Real Darwin 48. Terranean 49. Tetris 50. Tournament Pro GolfNow this will never compare to such things as the NES classic, the SNES classic or the MINI Genesis etc. but then again what does compare. If you are wanting something fun to do with your kids, nephews, or others and share in the richness of our video game history, this is the right choice for you, make sure get it as a price that works for you.

    HDMI cable not included

Currently open for my grandsons. They sit all excited. But alas. No HDMI. Had to read on here and realize its not missing its just not included. I would gladly buy one IF only they were upfront about it.

Cheap crap, avoid and get roms straight on PC

This is cheap junk. Missing HDMI cable but I used one of my own. Gameplay is lagging due to crappy controllers and you have to go back to console for main menu to change games. Also complex way to start and switch gameplay. As far as the games, the ROMs work, but that’s it.

Easy to add ROMs and good gameplay.

This system is fantastic. I bought it to side load ROMs for Sega Genesis. The included controllers are light, but pretty responsive. The buttons on the top were very satisfying with tactile feedback. I love the ease of entering the screen from the controller. With many retro systems that I bought in the past allowing for ROMs, I had trouble finding the correct SD card. I am thrilled about the 2gb as card included. I easily installed the required update. Then, I had way more than enough room to install rom versions of my entire Sega Genesis library. The gameplay on this system beats my $800 gaming computer that was built for high graphics games, not retro like the legends flashback is. This beats the Nintendo classic offerings for ease of rom installs as well. Way underpriced, but I won’t complain about that!
