Think twice before you buy this.

I won’t lie i was excited to use this and then replace my old K70 and I’ve had that one for about 2 or 3 years. This new one is about 2 weeks old eh but i wouldn’t think its eh if I didnt randomly have it stop working. It will work great then all of the sudden in the middle of a game or as I am writing something it just stops working. Frankly, I am mad about this. I spent about 160 dollars on this to have it crap out in the middle of use. It actually angers me. I would get it if its just a software issue but I constantly having it get stuck on letters and then I have to unplug it. It is so annoying that once I play Far Cry 5 and exit it leaves the flag up. I really enjoy that game but I want to go back to my settings. This is really making me hate this Keyboard. I am actually using my old one for this review just so I can type without any issues. So would I recommend it. If in the last 2 weeks I haven’t spent the whole time with “bugs and glitches” in a keyboard brand?? No not until these things are fixed.

A fantastic keyboard for gaming, especially at $90 (K70 LUX, red, mk1)

It’s loads better than my previous k/m setup (which was a wireless Logitech $30 k/m combo). I’ve never used a Cherry MX Red mechanical keyboard, or any mechanical keyboard for that matter, but this thing is a dream for gaming and quick typing. I initially wanted this keyboard for a few features: red backlit keys, USB passthrough and media controls. But I found that this thing is also nicer by leaps and bounds in terms of usability. A few notes below:-for those of you familiar with mechanical keyboards, this is probably not a shock, but the linear MX Red key switches require very little force to register a key press, which makes gaming so much better. I used to play almost exclusively with a gamepad, because I hated k/m, but it turns out I just didn’t have the right keyboard or mouse. The ease to register a key press does mean that you have to be careful while typing, as it’s easier to make typos, but with some practice you can easily type quickly.-the key replacements for FPS (WASD) and MOBA (I don’t remember because I don’t play MOBAs) are a nice touch. They have contoured and textured surfaces so it’s easy to feel by touch and makes gaming a bit more intuitive. Also, the space bar is textured as well.-the adjustable wrist rest is great for comfort and usability.-media controls work.-the red backlight looks dope and is great for using the keyboard at night; plus, with my red lit case, mouse and red themed monitor, the whole setup looks badass.

    Disappointing reliability.

I am a Systems Administrator who uses his keyboard all day every day, so when my 8-year-old Logitech G15 gave up the ghost, I asked my co-workers what the best most reliable workhouse keyboard was, and everyone told me to buy Corsair. I received it and was impressed by the solid feel and build quality. However, after installing the software to control the lighting, and wrestling with it for 2 days, I was less impressed, the software continually made Windows 10 crash, and extensive research online showed that this was a common failing with the software. So I uninstalled it, and decided to just use it with the default bright red lights. Then 2 days after getting it, the right arrow key snapped off, not the key cap, the shaft itself snapped. I thought this model had replaceable key switches that one could snap in and out, but found that to replace a key switch, you had to disassemble the entire unit, de-solder and solder in a new switch. So that was another disappointment. Then, after about 2 months of use, I started getting weird inconsistent results whenever I hit the A key. Sometimes it worked fine; other times hitting A seemed to trigger A, TAB, and CTRL simultaneously. I tried cleaning and everything I could think of, but this problem has persisted, to the point where I am giving up on this keyboard. I estimate that the multiple key fires happen about 3 out of every 5 key presses on the A key.

Great deal and perfect for low profile keyboard users

This is a beautiful full-sized Corsair Keyboard that has multiple functions. Besides all the media controls it has plenty of configurable settings to make set it up the way you like it. the main point is that it is a typical red switch mechanical keyboard BUT it is lower in stature so for people that are used to the “laptop style flat keys or such, they will be more friendly to these over the typical mechanical boards. I got this at a steal and it came perfectly and installed in under 30 seconds. The action is smooth and responsive. I use it for both work and gaming on FPS to RTS. The only downside is that the action is not as fast as my Logitech keyboard but I do not make as many typing mistakes with this one. I also do not really like how the armrest is plastic and cheap feeling but is does do its job. Last but not least, the metal construction is nice and the extra usb port in the back charges my phone/watch if needed.

great, improvements could be made though – cherry mx red low profiles are amazing

This is a great keyboard so far the low profile red keys feel great (they sound and feel very very similar to regular cherry mx reds), it seems corsair fixed their spacebar issues finally which is great, the other keys with stabilizers almost feel like they have dampeners on them though, which for the enter key its weird but i got used to it and its not game changing. The RGB is great, much better than the older k70 rgb keyboards, no more weird reflections. If i had to rate RGB per company it would be Logitech, Razer, Corsair in that order, but for me RGB isnt the selling point id rather have better keys and reliability. Few things for constructive criticism, i wish the keys were perfectly flat on this low profile and not concave at all, but its much less concave than regular cherry mx keys so its not terrible, the back legs should have another tier on them so i can raise the keyboard a tiny bit more, get rid of this horrible cable and give us a moddular one on the back, i personally dont use the pass through id rather have the usb slot open on computer but if this is the main reason why we have this gigantic cable on the k70 id get rid of it, and lastly the retail price is too high on release, i know the k70s avg out around 129-139 but the initial retail cost of 169.99 is a ball buster.edit – the a key is starting to stick pulling me to the left in games, and im getting double registers on the ‘e’ key, not sure if its my specific board or a issue with the switches either way its unfortunate, the keys do feel nice though, and are really really fast to type on, my wpm jumped up 20 comparing to a mx blue switch keyboard

Do you rest your fingers on the keyboard (like you’re supposed to)? Don’t buy this.

Good keyboard if you need sensitivity. Bad keyboard if you are a touch typist who touches the keys. This keyboard is very responsive. TOO responsive. Are you a touch typist who rests fingers lightly on the keys? You WILL type unwanted characters. The switches are too sensitive by far, and this will be the most expensively frustrating keyboard you will ever own. It’s probably fine for hunt and peck typists who never touch keys until they stab at them with a single finger. The rest of you, avoid this unless you want to be so frustrated you will hammer it with your fists periodically. I bought it for a gaming trivia room where speed and accuracy are key. BIG MISTAKE. Again, you WILL press keys you don’t mean to.Avoid at all costs if you are a trained typist.

Worth every penny! One of the best keyboards around.

I have been using an old generic Dell keyboard for the longest time and felt it was time to upgrade my keyboard. I really can’t believe I’ve waited so long to do this but so glad I did. The keyboard with the RGB effect really just finishes off my entire setup. I know it may seem fairly pricey to some but the build construction and the crazy amount of RGB customization you can setup makes it all worth it. I’ve done a bit of research on the different type of mechanical keyboard types and the cherry MX red seem to line up to what I was looking. Key typing sound isn’t too bad and not loud enough to be annoying. Overall, I give major props to Corsair and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a keyboard upgrade.

If you don’t like RGB, this keyboard just might change your mind

Been using the Corsair K70 for about a month now and here are my thoughts:1. The quality of the keyboard is absolutely top notch. The solid metal construction, the wrist rest, the packaging, the RGB lighting. All amazing. I could easily see this keyboard lasting me the rest of my life.2. I am not an expert on mechanical keys and frankly it had been so long since I had used one I didn’t really even care. I almost saved the money and just bought Corsair’s regular keyboard (non mechanical). However, after a month of using this I am glad I didn’t. It actually took me some time to get used to the mechanical switches but now that I am, I love them. They make everything more enjoyable (typing and gaming) and certainly allow me to type faster. There is no doubt about it, they are superior.3. The roller in the upper right hand corner of this keyboard is main volume control, as you probably guessed. Let me tell you: its freakin awesome, just brilliant. I use it constantly. I don’t think I can ever go back to having volume keys/ buttons.4. This keyboard includes two additional sets of “gaming” keys. Basically the A,S,D,Q,W and E keys but they are shaped differently and have a different texture so you can locate them more easily during gaming. I am not using them but it is a nice touch by Corsair. Someday I might throw them on just to try them.5. Now the RGB: I have to say it is growing on me. I did not buy this for the RGB and even now I still have it set on just a solid red glow, which is what its been on since I got it. But I have also played Far Cry 5 and now the new Far Cry (New Dawn) with it and the native support in those two games is pretty awesome. Particularly New Dawn. The profile for that game is very nice and actually does add a level of interaction that you wouldn’t expect. I have only played New Dawn for a total of about an hour so far and have already seen this keyboard do a bunch of cool stuff in game. For example, when you beat a mission, you get something like fireworks on the keyboard. When it is night in the game, the keyboard RGB is more subdued. The list goes on, the RBG lighting changes depending on what is happening in game and it really is cool, even to me. I also have a Corsair Pro series water cooler and gaming mouse but the RBG lighting on those just isn’t nearly as intricate as this keyboard. I am now considering downloading some more profiles , or perhaps making one myself.Don’t hesitate to buy this keyboard, you won’t be disappointed with any aspect of it. And certainly if you are an RGB fan, you are sure to love it.

    Good hardware, absolute garbage software.

I love the keyboard, but the software that runs it and all other Corsair products (Corsair Utility Engine, ‘CUE’) is a hot mess. It has problems every time I start my computer, it freezes, fails to detect hardware/apply my settings and requires restarts. This is common for them and the four software patches that I have applied to ‘CUE’ since purchase have not fixed anything, but seem to have made them WORSE. I would not advise anyone to buy Corsair products until they get their house in order and address these software problems. The frustration is just not worth it, and what good are the features if you cannot use them half the time? I hope they feel ashamed.

    Simply amazing

For: CORSAIR K70 RGB MK.2 – Cherry MX Red Low ProfileI’ve struggled to like mechanical keyboards. I’ve tried MX Black and Browns, and while they worked fine, I never got accustomed to them. It was hard to type quickly while gaming (like in an MMO, or chat in FPS, etc). Constant mistakes.Because of that, I kept my expectations grounded with this keyboard. I half-heartedly set it up, expecting to not like it and return it. That said, I am NOT returning it. It is amazing. Typing is a breeze and enjoyable. Gaming is swift and non-fatiguing, and of course quiet.I love the feel of it. I didn’t think I’d care for the LEDs but I do like and utilize them.CONS, not worth a star deduction but worth mentioning:* Really easy to accidentally press a key when resting your fingers on them. It registers your press long before it’s moved very far. Such is low-profile life 🙂 I’m getting used to it, and it is happening less and less.* Software kind of buggy for me. It sometimes doesn’t return to the “default” state when leaving a game or coming out of Windows sleep. It ALWAYS works when entering a game, so no issues there. It just gets stuck in the previous profile when leaving that game. I keep waiting for a software fix. Or figure out in the UI how to reset the Default profile if I broke it.* When not pressing keys straight down (like when you’re reaching far with your pinky to press a key), it can be a little extra difficult to press. Since the key isn’t going straight down, the linear design of the switch causes a little friction making the key harder to press. Not a deal breaker.* Volume roller is easy to spin and that can be a problem if you use low power headphones/earbuds and generally have the volume in the 5-15% range. It’s really easy to accidentally roll it up to 50% and blow your ear drums. I’m still hunting in Windows for a way to cap volume to make it easier but for now, just have to be careful.
