Updated: Wireless solution for PS4 Pro & PC

Update 5/15/2020: After their warranty replacement, the battery appears to hold around 26hrs of use now but the mic still appears to be weak. Also there are no software support on this, just a stand alone headset. Overall, the wireless capability and wireless charging is its top selling sauce.Update 4/2/2020: The mic on this headset appears to be weak. Whenever I talk to my team, they could barely hear me and I’d have to move my mic so close to my mouth. The battery isn’t lasting long as promised as well, barely got a full 12hrs of use now. Still waiting for the warranty support team to get back to me.Original review 3/19/2020:I’ve used this HyperX Cloud Flight S for a few days now for PC and PS4 Pro gaming, and all I can say is how incredible this product is.From unboxing, to essentially just complete plug and play. Headset itself is lightweight. Clamping force is a bit tight, maybe because it is new. The sound on this thing with 7.1 enabled is absolutely amazing. It’s comparable to my HyperX Cloud II, if not better. The mic, according to my friends, sounds good on their end. Best part about the mic is how you can mute in, you press the bottom button on your left ear cup and there’s a RED LED that lights up – that is so cool! I don’t know how many times I’ve played unknowingly with my mic muted.Quick button controls on the left ear cup let’s you adjust game audio or to prioritize chat audio, though I’m a bit disappointed it doesn’t work on PS4 (you still can control if you long press ps button). They do include an optional software you can download for further customizations but there’s no need it, as the headset itself is customized well already in my opinion. It is completely wireless – even charging! If you’re looking for a wireless headset for gaming, look no further.Box includes the usb dongle, headset, micro usb cable and manual.

    Extremely comfortable for big head

I bought this for PS4 gaming and general PC headset.I haven’t used any HyperX headset before, but I saw so many positive reviews for HyperX Cloud Flight, so I placed the order almost immediately when I saw this new model available.**Comfort**First of all, it is very comfortable for my larger than average head, better than my previous SteelSeries lowest end model (which is very nice for long hours of wearing), and much better than SteelSeries Arctic 7 2019 model, which I returned after only 30 seconds of wearing. After all, no matter how wonderful a headset looks, comfort is always number one factor.**Build quality**The product looks very well built. Even the surface is all plastic, the matte finish feels of high quality. You won’t feel anything bad about how it looks and feels.**Wireless**I want go wireless for headset and mouse, so lacking of 3.5mm input is not a problem for me.One thing you may need to know is that, since I want to switch between PS4 Pro and PC, I bought a USB switcher and hoped I can push one button to switch, and avoid plugging out/in between PS4 Pro and PC. However, there is some compatibility issue for the switcher to work with the USB dongle. Switching from PS4 Pro to PC is fine. Switching from PC to PS4 Pro does not work, I will still have to plug out and in to make the PS4 Pro recognize the dongle.**Sound Quality**I use this for gaming and general PC listening (youtube, streaming etc.), thus I don’t have any expectation on sound quality other than good gaming experience. For that task it works as expected.**Operation**Volume knob resistance is fine, though I hope it could be a little larger. The four buttons on the left side works quite good. I set them as 1. Pause/Play, 2. Mic Volume up, 3, Mic Volume down, 4. Mic Mute. Very handy.**Wireless Charging**This one I met some problem. I didn’t buy the HyperX Qi Charger, instead I tried 3 difference Qi compatible wireless chargers, one of which is the high quality Huawei 27W model, which is the fasted one on the market. They can all charge the Flight S, however, none of them can automatically stop charging after the headset is fully charged (the headset is still hot even when it reaches 100% after 1 hour). Frustrating, because I so wanted to use the wireless charging feature. I plan to buy the HyperX Qi charger when there is a good price. But I wonder whether the “official” wireless charger will behave just like others. – If any of you had the chance to test the HyperX Qi charger with the Flight S, please share with me the result. Thanks!Overall it is a very satisfying product for me. I won’t be looking at other headsets for quite some time.

Pretty poor battery life, and frequent connection issues, microphone unmutes when disconnected.

Let me start with the good, this is a pretty comfy headset. It doesn’t do the plasticy cracky thing when you wear it either, that some headsets do. Let’s hope it stays that way after a bit of use.Let’s talk about that battery life. It’s pretty bad. It lasts a little less than 2 days on a single charge. Once my night is done, and I head to bed, the thing sits around 40%. Wired charging is pretty good, it is always done charging after I wake up in the morning. It’s a bit sad that they cheaped out on the charging port, and used Micro USB instead of USB C, since this device would totally benefit from being able to be plugged in without worrying about the cable being upside down. I do like how the headset can be charged during use though. It kind of makes up for the poor battery life if you have a long enough cable to make it comfortable.I can’t talk about the Qi Wireless charging, since I’ve not used it, I’ll totally update this review if I ever do though. However I can say that if you have a bigger head than the lowest size, then you can’t set the headset upright like they do while charging in the video, since the headset will lose its balance and fall over. I guess you could make the headset smaller again to use the wireless charging, but that’s kind of a pain, you could always flip the left ear 90 degrees and lay it flat while charging, that’d take a lot of desk space though…As of June 1st, I’ve been using wireless charging to charge the headset. As I expected, it does not work well. The headset will almost always fall over without me adjusting the length of the right ear. Also, you can’t charge it in the way that I expected, by laying it on the desk, because it will not lay flat on the charging pad, and will not charge. The wireless charging is a lot of trouble. Still more convenient than the wired charging though. This headset has a really annoying issue. Your settings for sidetone (which is a feature where you can hear yourself over the microphone in the headset), 7.1 Surround, and microphone mute are not saved to the headset in any way, and are lost if you lose connection, or if the headset is powered off. This can be helped a bit by installing Hyper X’s NGENUITY software, but it’s still annoying, because now the audio fades in with sidetone, then fades out and fades back in without it. I feel like the settings aren’t saved to the headset simply because they want another reason for you to have to install the software. Also the headset always restarts/ reconnects with the microphone unmuted, which is kind of dangerous, since it could pick up a private conversation you are having while muted in a chat if it loses connection for a moment. The headset loses connection too frequently, maybe 10 times over the course of a single charge. Sometimes when it has a full charge, for a moment the software will report the charge level as 1% and show a notification in Windows. If someone starts a microwave nearby (a few meters), this is certain death for your connection (which is to be expected for 2.4Ghz, but with that earlier mentioned microphone mute issue it is a problem.) Ignoring those issues, the connection spreads pretty far, I can go anywhere in my apartment and still be connected. The software allows you to reassign the four buttons on the left ear, but not the one on the bottom that enables 7.1 surround. I only reassigned the top button, which was by default assigned to ‘sidetone’ since I don’t intend on using that feature. The software is very limited in what you can assign the buttons to. It’d be much more useful if I could assign a macro, then I could set Discord mute to be the button and not have to worry about becoming unmuted if I lose connection.I like the microphone, it’s one of the bendy tube style microphones. I like that. It reminds me of these headsets I used long ago. The mic is a bit wobbly in the 3.5mm jack slot on the headset, but only when touched, it doesn’t move around when I move around.Starting June 9th I encountered another issue with my headset, the software is no longer reading the battery percentage during use, and shows the percentage that the headset had when powered on until the headset is started up again, this is unacceptable, as knowing how charged the headset is is very important to using it.Updated June 11th to remove paragraph about misleading combined reviews and questions sections, as it has been resolved. Also to add my experience with Wireless charging, and add the paragraph about the new software issue.Overall, it’s a pretty alright headset, but there are far too many issues with the headset for me to recommend it to anyone else.

For the majority of people, this is the wireless headset to buy

I come at this purchase from a relatively non-standard use case: I’m a PC gamer, but I also work for a company in which I’m the SME for tech related things where I voice and video chat all day. As such, I needed a headset that would function both as a great gaming headset AND a great headset for video calls that didn’t require external drivers or software to achieve baseline functionality (I’m looking at you Corsair Virtuoso!) as the nature of my work doesn’t allow unapproved software.I was previously using the corsair void pro wirelesses which did the job quite well, but had so-so battery life and their over-the-top gamer aesthetic only took me so far in regards to obtaining the respect of my co-workers, so I looked for something that was both a little higher end, and if possible, wouldn’t give away the fact that my work headset was pulling double duty as my daily driver for gaming. In that regards, the cloud S’s are ideal. They have a very subdued aesthetic, making them look similar to a pair of bluetooth headphones (like Bose or the sony XM1000 series) partially due to their lack of RGB (which is a positive in my book, especially because this allows the headset to have a nearly 30 hour long battery life). They have very solid sound quality (not necessarily the best, I’d argue that nearly any high end bluetooth pair of earbuds or headphones are superior in that regard), the mic quality exceeds anything I’d used prior (based on reports from the people with whom I was calling) but it’s not perfect, and definitely isn’t as good as a standalone mic.The software (if you choose to install it) is very light and bereft of features, but this is a double edged sword because on one hand, it lacks a lot of customization, or even an EQ, BUT as it’s a microsoft store app that doesn’t require any permissions, I could actually install it on my work PC (not that it was necessary, as previously mentioned, the software doesn’t do much). The build quality is solid, not the MOST premium gaming headset I’ve ever felt (the corsair virtuoso and the logitech pro X are a little more premium and have less plastic), but they very well might be the most comfortable headset I’ve ever worn, even for long periods of time. The only 100% negative is that they still charge with micro USB, which is a huge downside in my book and would have been a dealbreaker. However, it’s balanced out by being the only headset to my knowledge that has QI wireless charging, which I initially thought would be rather silly for a headset, but ended up being one of my favorite features; as I rest it on the charger between calls, and it’s essentially always at top battery! The bottom line is: if you’re not the type of person who needs the ABSOLUTE BEST IN CLASS for any one particular feature, I feel that this headset strikes the best balance among the wireless gaming headset offerings, and it pulls double duty as being a very respectable choice for business as well! (plus, it’s $50 less than the other headsets I’d consider to be its closest competitors).

Great quality audio, mic, and comfort. Mic reliability/controls poorly implemented

Almost 2 weeks of heavy daily use (6+ hours) and I have updated to the latest version of the firmware shortly after installation. I update this review if anything changes.I use these headphones for both gaming (discord, in game VoIP, etc) as well as working from home headset for when I join video or conference calls from my computer. The Good: – This headset is comfortable to wear for long duration (I’ve gone 4+ hours with no issues) and I wear glasses full time. No issues at all with ears over heating, or feeling crammed, the headset has nice depth to the cups.- The audio quality (not using surround sound) is top notch. in FPS games I can easily tell and zone in on where the bullets/footsteps/explosions are coming from.-The mic audio quality is crisp and people have commented on how good my mic quality is.- The buttons on the left ear cup can be remapped to some select features which is nice.- The range on the headphones are pretty solid.- When you turn on the headset it pairs in under 2 seconds with the PC which is nice. The Meh- The USB dongle that connects to the headset should have come with either a USB extension cable or designed where you could put the transmitter on your desk, and it has a USB cable you could run to your PC. I can’t help but think having the receiver jammed in the back of the computer, along 2-3 other USB devices, under a desk reduces the range slightly.- The software is okay. Nothing to write home about. The Bad:Nearly 100% of my complaints are around the muting the mic – how the feature is implemented, how it is supported at the hardware level, and my user experience with it. As I mentioned above the audio of the mic is great. This headset has 2 primary ways to know if the mic is muted to not:1) If you press the mute/unmute button it will play either 2 beeps for mutes or 1 beep for unmuted2) There is a red-light indicator on the mic that is turned on when the mic is mutedAt face value this should be enough to realize if the mic is muted or not – but this isn’t the case due to underlying issues.Over the past ~2 weeks I’ve had no less than 8 times when the mic was muted automatically re-enables without any audio notification (the red-light mute indicator does turn off, however). I’ve done some testing, and this appears to be a range issue impacting the mic only (audio isn’t impacted). What this means is if you are listening in on discord/zoom/webex and mute the mic and step away you get a drink/snack/whatever you will continue to hear the audio perfectly fine, but the mic will randomly reconnect and un-mute after about 10-15feet. There is no audio indication (single beep) that the mic has reconnected, and since the audio never cuts out or shows any indication of connectivity issues you don’t know when the mic un-mutes itself. On the red-light mute indicator. In theory this is a great feature, but it was poorly implemented on this headset. There are 2 main issues with the red-light indicator on this headset. The first is the location of this red-light indicator. If you look at the picture on the product you can see where the red-light indicator is – right below the mic. The problem with this location is the length of the cord/mic is short enough that you can’t easily see this small ring while wearing the headset without really looking down at the bottom left to see it.The second issue is the lack of brightness of the red-light indicator – if you have almost any level of natural or artificial light in the room it is almost impossible to see the red light indicator while wearing the headset unless you lift the left earpiece off your head and turn your head to look at it. This is a combination problem of the LED being soft and hard to see but also goes back to the above point of the short mic cord not allowing the light to be easily visible. If you are always in a dark room with no significant lighting it might be a non-issue.The only way to resolve this issue, without replacing hardware, would be for the mic to default to a muted state when it connects/reconnects AND indicated with an audible beep the mic is muted. This way the user knows this event has occurred. – this should be achievable at a firmware/software update.Unfortunately for the poor red-light indicator is a design issue. The red light needs to be significantly brighter so it doesn’t get washed out in a normal light environment and the position needs to be better so a user can easily tell if it is on or not.I’ve opened a support case with HyperX about this about 3 days ago – no update yet – if they provided any meaningful resolution to issues I’ll update this review to reflect that.Overall it is a solid headset and I think they should be able to solve most of the issues with it to make it best in class piece of hardware. Chances are I will continue to use it and just live in a state of paranoia around the microphone. It is the most comfortable wireless and best sounding headsets I’ve tried (and I’ve tested out 3 others in the past 2 months). The risk of having a mic that will un-mute itself without indication is why I rated this at 3 stars.

    Updated Review

Update: The red LED on the mic (comes on when you mute yourself), has stopped working. Theres been a static noise in my headset ( happens on youtube a lot?). The 7.1 surround is also just so bad. Returning these.Did research. Was going to get the Arctis ones but the deciding factor was the fact that I previously owned a pair of refurbished Hyper x headset. The quality is amazing. No rips in the leather and such. No issues at all. So I got these.Pros: no cut outs while talking, comfortable, my friends said I sound way better now (so great mic), charge lasts for days, love the semi hidden buttons on the earpiece (makes it so you don’t accidentally hit it), has the feature where you can hear yourself talk (I like that so I know of I’m being too loud as these cancel a good chunk of noise). Sound quality is what I would expect. They sound great.Cons: the software for this is not even usable (good luck with it), the charging cable is far too short (you will not be able to charge it while playing.. Unless you use a longer cable I suppose). The surround sound is an absolute joke. It’s so bad lol.Overall I’m happy. Maybe a bit pricey but because I had a good experience with my previous headset, I’m comfortable with my purchase.

    Awesome Headphones

I have been purchasing headphones for nearly one decade. I had the following headphones in order:Siberia V2AKG Q 701 Quincy Jones Signature Reference-Class Premium HeadphonesSennheiser 506065 GAME ONE Gaming Headset – WhiteHyperX Cloud Flight SHCG1 Pro Gaming HeadsetThis is my fourth headset and I really enjoy it. I find that my two headset/headphones have different qualities/quirks. I am really loving no wired connection to computer. It really does improve the headset experience! I don’t get my wires caught into my chair or tangled behind my computer and tug at me during gaming. I really would like a wireless mouse for the same reason. It doesn’t bug me that my monitor is corded since its a stationary device. These headphones were awesome for gaming. good sound quality, good noise cancellation, and great for gaming. I had no issue with the microphone.I wish this headset had a dongle for direct or bluetooth receiving for the headset (similar to mouse receivers). Mouse receivers are small so as to prevent anyone from knocking into the USB bending the male insert. I would like the receiver to go up to 30ft without compromising signal and qualityperfect headphones would be the following:- Design similar to the following: AKG Q 701 Quincy Jones Signature Reference-Class Premium Headphones (White) or HCG1 Pro Gaming Headset (with an aluminum bone coupled with a plastic and padding)- small dongle for Blue tooth and direct- volume control on headphones- direct charging port on headset ideally on the side with a charging station that acts as a nest that rests horizontallyMake the microphone similar to the following headset company:Sennheiser 506065 GAME ONE Gaming Headset – White-allow it the microphone to turn off and on when mic is up and down similar to this headset-software similar to logitech or corsairsUnfortunately, I haven’t seen a company make my perfect headset yet. It seems like the companies try to lower the price and remove features from headset. They each make something different so you are forced to choose what you value in your headset rather than getting everything you want.I am a Sennheiser fan. I would have purchased the Sennheiser 670s if it wasn’t so faulty. Looking at all the headsets on the market the Sennheiser Game ONE or Game Zero seems to be one of best functional headsets. I wish they incorporated the same microphone for the senneheiser 670s as the Game ONE and fixed all of their problems like the faulty receiving, bad mic quality, headset fitting device, bad softwareHonestly, the best headset design I have seen out there this company makes: HCG1 Pro Gaming HeadsetAll it needs is high quality audio like sennehieser 670s, high quality microphone similar to sennehieser Game ONE, good dongle for wireless bluetooth and direct receiving, while having the volume control on headset, Ideally if they could make an awesome software to go with it like logitech and corsairs that would be awesome, over the ear with room to spare for the headset concerning comfort. I would be willing to spend 300-500 for a pairAgain, I have tested so many headsets and I really want to find the perfect pair. But this headset is really awesome! I encourage anyone to buy this headset!

    Where is the software support?

Only 2 stars because it’s more comfortable than my Steel Series 7 headset which is why I’m so disappointed that this product launched without any dedicated software support. After installing the HyperX NGenuity software, I get a message to please connect a hyperx enabled device. I do so using the cable it came with. The software doesn’t detect the headset. Tried different USB ports. Uninstalled the program. Installed it again. Ran it in admin mode. Nothing. So after a google search and seeing this seems to be a common problem with their other devices, I find a post saying to install it via their app on the Microsoft Store. This works and the headset is detected, however this app is a beta with low reviews and here is why. After installing this app and connecting it to the headset it now makes a low hissing static sound in the background. Also, you cannot edit the equalizer (bass, etc) in this app or change much of the other settings besides the button config on the side of the earcup. For a brand new powerful headset that just launched, this is a joke. I’m only glad that it’s comfortable until I can find a better brand before I return this.

Very Quiet Stereo. Trash 7.1 quality

CONS:1. I’m so disappointed. I can’t deal with it. Stereo mode is so quiet. I paid to hear the sound but I can’t. Not to my liking. I’m pissed every time i put them on. This is a big let down for me and i feel sorry. Understanding why DEVs put CAP on a Volume is beyond me. I guess this is how they extended the battery life to be able to advertise up to 30 hours. To compare:- Corsair Void Pro Wireless: 200% louder- Pioneer DJ headphones: 200% louder- Beats Studio wired 2.0 400% louder.Only solution is to download EqualizerAPO and add Preamplification (set to10dB), add Loudness Correction (Reference level set to -10dB)2. NGenuity software doesn’t detect the headset when reWASD is installed (my discovery). Without this software you can not customise anything nor be able to update Firmware or see the battery level for that matter.3. 7.1 mode is trash. No bass just miss and high frequencies. It’s twice louder than Stereo Mode. Don’t try to listen music with it.PROS:1. Good build quality.2. Wireless signal strength is very strong. I can be anywhere in the house without loosing signal.3. Comfortable.4. Wireless charging.Summary:This could have been great Headset. Simply the best but cons are too important to pass. I wish Cloud Flight S could deliver similar volume to other headphones on the market. They Fail big time. Sound quality I like but other family members don’t.

Great gaming headset – use it for Call of Duty Modern Warfare

I hear you creeping up on me! I hear those footsteps! The headphones are comfortable, I wear them for hours without a major issue. Your ears could get a bit hot, but it isn’t offputting. Maybe need a 5 minute break from wearing them. Only issue with the head-set is I wish you could control the auto-turn off feature. Yes, its design is to save battery life, but often while i’m surfing the web, the headphones shut off if it doesn’t detect sound. I think it defaults to 15 minutes, I would like to set this to 30 minutes. Or at least give me the option.I also use this with the wireless charger. Which can be a pain to line up the headset with the charger. I wrote that on another review. Just FYI in case you are thinking of getting the mouse/headset charger. Finding the correct “spot” where the headset and the charger link can literally take 1 full minute of you moving the headset around to find that sweet spot.
