    Fun Game, infuriating puzzles (sometimes)

While this game has many aspects of Breath of the Wild, as others have mentioned, it has plenty of it’s own flair, and as far as I’m concerned, is substantially better. I had a hard time putting the controller down for this one. The story line in general is fun, side quests and exploration are meaningful, and of course, then banter between Zeus and Prometheus is probably the best part of everything about the game. Entering Aphrodite’s vault- Zeus: “Too easy.”

    Fantastic Game and Highly Underrated

I have put 45 hours so far in this game on my PS5. I don’t normally write reviews for games but I felt this was important. I’ve seen this game go on sale several times and people think it’s because the game isn’t doing well. I don’t know if that’s the case or not but I can tell you that I paid full price and haven’t regretted anything. I beat all of the assassins creeds and legends of Zelda BotW. Honestly, this game does several things better than both if those games. If you enjoy those games you will absolutely love this game. Unfortunately if you don’t then you probably won’t like this game. It’s very very similar to those games as other reviewers have stated. So yourself a favor and play it!

    Fun Open World Exploration

Fun Game, Lots (and I do mean LOTS) of open world exploration for this game. If you like BoTW on the Nintendo Switch you are going to like this game. The dialogue in the game is very humorous (especially when the gods are discussing how Aphrodite was really born). I’m really glad I picked this game up to play on my new PS5

    Fantastic Game…better than expected

Ubisoft really put some time and effort into making a fun, interesting and light-heated game. When you first start the game, you are on a small island and the lighting and colors will look bad. You may need to make sure you install any updates, first. However, after doing many of the tasks on that island, you will move on to the next large island, where the game really opens up. The graphics and colors are beautiful at the point. As you move further into the game, you’ll be amazed at how intricate and wonderful the map, nature and architecture is. This is generally not a difficult game, but parts of it can be. Make sure you spend time exploring and leveling up as best as you can. I’ve only encountered one boss so far, that gave me a little bit of trouble.Overall, this is well worth purchasing. It feels fresh and handles really well.

    An enjoyable first few hours…

This game is so good at first, but man it really drags after the second area. Between getting no real noteworthy gear, and anything that is useful in any way being something like “Does this effect after landing a 60 hit combo.” This game lives on it’s story alone and with LoZ BoTW doing this style of open world better, there just isn’t any real motivation to keep going after that second area. My entire playthrough of almost 20 hours has landed me 0 worthwhile gear, and 0 with any real useful or practical effects. Sure the powers are cool, but when my armor scales with having to grind out these colored crystals that takes ages to find enough of and armor once again not giving any worth while effects, buffs, or any changes at all, these later areas become a real grind or even just painfully dull. The world is gorgeous and the story is interesting and witty with some great humor, but that grind and story just aren’t worth it when you have to repeat the same tasks over and over and over and over, using the same gear you started with or maybe one you got that was slightly better then that, and really getting no reward for your tasks other then one item at the end if a vault that you need 7 more of to get any effect, this game just really falls flat. If you have the means to and haven’t yet, play LoZ BoTW if you want a better experience then this game offers. This game isn’t bad, but just needed a better reward system to keep people invested in continuing the grind. I cannot being myself to complete this game as to me and I’m sure many others, there’s no motivation or reason to, and I can’t really say I blame them, which is a real shame and I hope in the future we will see something better come out if this new IP.

I HATE the vast majority of this game. H.A.T.E.

Yes, HATE is a strong word but that’s exactly how I feel about this game. The only reason I gave this game 3-stars is because it’s a highly polished product that some people are going to love. Not this guy though. So why do I HATE this game so much? It’s because Immortals Fenyx Rising is one of the most frustrating, aggravating, infuriating, and annoying games I’ve EVER played-wrapped up in a candy-coated, kid-friendly exterior. Fenyx is EASILY the worst experience I’ve had on any console all year. Hands down. Bar none. And I’ve played a lot. First of all, the good. I would say the graphics are outstanding, but that only applies to the game world. The characters themselves are pretty rough if you ask me. I played as the male Fenyx (Should’ve chosen the female) and by the end of the game I hated his stupid ps2-looking face. World traversal is also good, Fenyx has a pretty handy run and you can also ride various mounts around the game. You can glide through the air as well. Overall, no complaints about the world itself or world traversal. This is where the positives end though. Everything else is pure frustration. Every. Single. Thing. In this game seems designed to frustrate the player. From having to manually move your analog stick around to search for the perfect pixel that reveals your obscure points of interest, to falling to your death about a hundred times an hour in every single vault you try to complete- this game smacks of frustrating game design. Do developers actually play their own games I wonder? There is so much about the way this game is designed that seems to want to lead to broken controllers. I love skill trees in games, but in this one, any progress you make in that department is slow and stingy. By the time I completed this game I had just a few of the god powers and little else and I did plenty of the annoying puzzles and vaults. And oh my god the Puzzles. Want to get something as simple as a chest of gems? Do a puzzle. Want a pittance of Charon coins to buy some upgrades? Do a puzzle. Want a stupid cosmetic helmet that looks as stupid as all the others in your inventory? Do a puzzle. Need a bathroom break? Do a puzzle. Need to breathe? Do a puzzle. Every single attempt at progression in blocked by puzzle after puzzle after puzzle. I couldn’t help but think about the movie “Inception” while playing this game because their are puzzles within puzzles that open other puzzles all wrapped into one big overall mega puzzle which is blocking still another annoying puzzle. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not against puzzles in these type of games, it’s just with this one, that’s all there is. Sure there’s the occasional combat (which lets face it, is pretty spammy and not really very finessed) and some platforming but this is a puzzle game. It’s not an action game at all and that’s how it was marketed. It’s a puzzle game. Endless, tedious, obtuse, frustrating, annoying, progress-blocking PUZZLES. I wanted to like this game. I truly did. I’ve been following it since it was first announced as “Gods And Monsters”. I preordered my copy and waited eagerly to play it. Some people are going to love this game, and the reviews have been mostly glowing, but for me constantly falling to my death for the four millionth time because of sloppy controls, succumbing to ridiculous progress set backs because of minuscule mistakes, Constantly having drawn out puzzle solving completely halt any attempt at progress and listening to my annoying character’s super annoying voice does not make for a very fun experience. (Seriously, the male voice in this game is annoying as all get out and doesn’t fit the character model even a little bit.) For a bit of reference I completed Assassins Creed Valhalla, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Ghost of Tshushima, Doom Eternal, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Spiderman Miles Morales and several others this year and this is the only game from 2020 that made me want to break things for almost the entire duration of my playthrough. That trek up the mountain toward the end was the most infuriating thing I have done in a video game for as long as I can remember. The souls games are less frustrating. Do you hate the Water Temple in The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time? This ENTIRE game is the Water temple. HATE. THIS. GAME. Rant out.

Overall a fun game. Puzzles and exploring felt stale after awhile. Story kind of predictable.

I enjoyed the game for what it was and recommend it. The puzzles quickly felt stale and lacked real challenge, feeling more like an inconvenience holding me back than a puzzle. The vault dungeons were similar. I was pretty disappointed that I couldn’t actually fly even though the character had wings. It’s just double jumping and gliding. The climbing stamina bar was anxiety inducing, wondering if i’ll make it or fall. There didn’t feel like a lot of variation in enemies, so I often came across the same enemies but maybe they were a little bit tougher. The main character walked differently than other characters during cutscenes, it often seemed like she had a stick up her behind or just got done riding a horse or something. Certain skills were used by me frequently (heavy lifting), but then there were some I didn’t use once (phosphor). The armor and weapons have some skills and abilities, but overall really felt like they were more for costume changes for the character rather than to help you out – I had used the same weapons and armor for a vast majority of the game, seldom changing them up when I found new ones.I would recommend the game. Just be warned if you’re going for completion it’s very grindy and will get stale fast.

A very funny and entertaining game!

Assassin’s Creed meets Breath of the Wild, with a heavy dose of Greek mythology. The combat is fun and bombastic. The puzzles aren’t up to BOTW standards but still make for more varied gameplay than most AC games. What surprised me the most is how funny this game is! I’ve been gaming for almost 40 years and I have never laughed out loud so often playing a video game. The game is not as big as BOTW or recent AC games, but not many games are. It is still big enough to justify the price if you’re into these games.
