Great pad for fighting games and metroidvanias

I’ve got no excuses with this pad, it truly showcases how bad I’ve gotten at video games in my old age. I’ve tried them all, from the NES through the 16 bit wars, the fabled Saturn pad, the truly horrendous Jaguar controller, all the way to current gen systems. The d pad is on par with the best I’ve used, and it truly shines with 2d platformers and metroidvania type games. I hope this pad lasts because it’s my go to for everything 2d

    Not good for heavy use.

Going into the 5th month of using this controller, if they sold a replacement for the rubber on the stick, that would be great. Mine is about to come off from wear and tear. And in only 4 months.

    Stellar controller

This controller is clearly custom designed with much thought put into the design. It is very accurate and gives the option of using a left analog, which is also very accurate. SFV is an issue ladden and unforgiving game, but the smoothness of this controller mitigates the nonsense. And the price was unbelievable. It’s both cheaper and better than the Hori fight pads which get the best reviews. The reviews for this were bad, and this proves a theory I’ve been testing. I believe gamers are bashing the top pads to discourage fellow competitors. I got this on the recommendation of a youtuber who plays competitively. Don’t listen to these other detracting reviews.

    Best Fightpad

I mostly got this for my collection, but really like the controller. As wierd as it feels, it’s still very easy to hold and play with. The buttons feel great, and i love the switch that gives the joystick left or right functionality. The downsides are a pretty bland design, being nothing more than a red outline on a black Controller. The top part is also glossy like a WiiU controller, meaning it smudges waaay to easilly. Lastly, I’m not a fan of the generation 1 Playstation joystick. It has the gross sticky rubber that the first few Ps4 controllers had, before they were updated.

Downloading the drivers for PC is a must!

I have about 19 hours for this controller and it works really well so far which Street Fighter 5. Although, I highly recommend you get the proper PC drivers for it as I’ve made the mistake of not installing the driver and I got a less responsive controller. After I got the drivers the response time was much better and I was beating people online more ofter.

and that works just fine. So

I bought this one specifically because it has an analog stick, and that works just fine. So, if you want a fight pad with a decent d-pad, I do not recommend this one. However, if you’re like me and prefer using an analog stick, then I would suggest trying it.Though, I do have two complaints with it. For one, the Start/Options and Select/Share buttons are in a really odd spot, and I have hit them on accident multiple times. I suppose that’s not too big of a deal, but it will take some getting used to. However, I don’t know if it’s just me (I don’t think it is), but the circle button occasionally gets stuck, and this does cause problems.Because of this, I can’t give it the perfect score I believe it had the potential to achieve, but I do still recommend it.

Best D-Pad for fighting games on the PS4!

This review may change over time and I usually leave 5 star reviews and comeback in a few months. The D-Pad is pretty precise, very easy quarter circles, half circles, and 360s!I’m not an analogue user but at least in windows it’s slightly a bit better than a standard DS4 stick. The face buttons feel nice but the Triangle and Circle buttons are slightly raised and the R1 and R2 face buttons are lowered… This is the only pad besides the Saturn pad that I can feel the difference. It was on previous fight pads but the buttons were larger so you never really felt the spacing.I would say this is a definite buy as of March 2018, do NOT buy the first version which has the disk D-Pad…I will say that the D-Pad is better than the Hori Fighter Commander pad but only time will tell if this pad lasts, all of my original street fighter pads work as if new! While I will say the D-Pad is the best on the market as of right now, there is a chance that once the new Saturn pads are released that could easily change (if the USB version works on the PS4 that is…) will work fine on PC. The Hori pad does have larger buttons so if the buttons are too small for you I would get the hori pad, granted the Saturn pad did have small face buttons for X, Y and Z.

Flimsy triggers, do not put confidence in their construction

Was a great pad for a while, but I came to discover that there are two tiny plastic pins that retain the triggers on their proper course. These pins will bear all of the force you put on the triggers. They WILL break eventually, suddenly, and without warning. Mine lasted about 2 and half months. After opening it to see what broke and finding these pins broken off that are no larger than a grain of rice I no longer have confidence in the construction of this pad and will not be buying a replacement. If you don’t use the shoulder buttons and use the face buttons instead, I’d say this pad is 4/5. As a side note, this pad is designed for fighting games. Why the *** they made trigger style shoulder buttons, I have absolutely no clue. It can’t even be used to play shooters as it lacks a right analogue stick. My search for a pad with solid construction continues.

    Not more than a gimmick

When this controller perform worst compared to a snes controller from the 90s, you wonder what were thinking the engineers that designed this mess. The plastic is real bad quality, no grip, after disassembling i’ve noted the D-pad does not make direct contact with the rubber contacts, it uses another plastic cross sticked below giving a undesired torque that make it feel like another analog stick, what a mess, it looks worst than the ps3 imitation controllers. Not recommended for any kind of game. Madcatz should stop this line of products and focus only on their stick pads, this is a horrible product. Zero stars is not an option but it should be with such product.

    You can ask for replacement!

I was on the fence for the longest time whether or not to buy this. I’m glad I did and I only wish I bought it sooner. The directional pad is the selling point of this controller and it’s actually a great D-Pad. It had accurate inputs without being stiff when pressing a direction. I play on fightstick, hitboxes, and fightpads so if you’re a pad kind of player this a great option. When I first bought mine everything was working great except the square button was literally unresponsive no matter how hard I pressed it. Thanks to Amazon customer service I was able to get a replacement. Even shipping back the defect was painless. This is added reason to give this a 5 star review on top of a great product.
