    Great price and quality!

This is a great product!I was looking to upgrade from my DS Lite, which has lasted me 6 years and still works perfectly fine, and my GBA, which has lasted 14 years. I had looked at getting a PSP, but decided to go for a Nintendo handheld device, as I have had good experiences with them and the games for them.So I started looking at a 3DS, and stumbled across the 2DS. At first, I thought it was weird, but after looking at some reviews, I was super excited to get one. Here are my reasons for getting this instead of a 3DS-Price- for a new system, that does everything a 3DS does but the 3D feature, it was a great bargain! I missed the $80 deal, but still got a new one for around $100.-Design- Though it does look a little silly, the design feels great in my hands, as other customers had said in the reviews I read. My hands would cramp on my other systems, but I do not have much of a problem holding this one for a long time. Also, it is very durable, and it doesn’t have the hinges that occasionally snap on it’s cousin devices. I did buy a few screen protectors. So if you are looking to buy a 3DS, I would recommend looking into a 2DS. I am very satisfied with mine.

and I’m happy as a clam with it

Don’t let the targeted age group for this device fool you, this console is not just for little kids! I’ve had this console for about a year now, and I’m happy as a clam with it. Speaking of clams, the main reason why I chose the 2DS over the 3DS is because I’ve never gotten used to the ‘clam shell’ model of the DS’s. I’m an old school gamer who likes to reminisce of the good old days of handheld gaming devices, before all they all turned into flip phone like contraptions. I don’t need all of the fancy bells and whistles of 3D gaming, all I want is a simple handheld console that I can play up to date games on. After a year of playing on this device, I can happily say had I’ve had no issues with it. It’s sturdy, durable and I can see myself playing games on this for many years to come! Definitely a good investment for kids and adults alike.

Owner of 3ds xl gives it two thumbs up

Ugly. When this was released I was totally perplexed and almost angry because it seemed so pared down and ugly. I love handhelds and have had every itteration of the Game Boy Nintendo has ever made…some seemed mediocre and others great. The original 3ds I got at launch was not comfortable to hold for long periods until I added the Nerf armor which made it larger. My 3ds xl is the perfect handheld for me…..hundreds of hours on the system and it has held up very well. It also has a ton of downloaded games on it (which sometimes causes me to leave it home rather than risk damage or theft). I got a great deal on the 2ds, used BUT after spending just a few days with it, I decided it is one of my favorites.I am like many people who rarely use the 3ds option. I found it completely nauseating on the original 3ds and only slightly better with the larger 3ds xl screens. So, if 3d isn’t important to you, this is a great system period. 3ds xl in comparrison feels much heavier after playing for an hour or more. I am including this side by side picture of the size difference when the 3ds xl is open. The 2ds feels really comfortable for longer play to me and if you like or have or want games that use those shoulder buttons a lot it is a winner….very good size, comfortable and responsive. Mario Kart 7 is a blast on it. The lack of stereo from the one speaker doesn’t really bother me….if I want stereo I plug in my headphones. The 2ds reminds me of the Game Boy because it is large. I am a big fan of the clamshell designs BUT there is no hinge here to get loose or break AND nothing wiggles and jiggles while playing race, fighting, or other games where you might have a tendency to jostle the system around some. That alone makes it unique and fun….I don’t feel I need to be as careful with it, either. This system feels solid. I don’t have a problem with these small screens since there is no floppy hinge. I do suggest screen protectors and a case. This will fit in cargo pants pockets and maybe the back pocket of guy’s jeans. With the new price drop, I think everyone should consider it because it is a great system and the library of ds and 3ds games is incredible. I actually recommend this system over 3ds xl….the price point is SO much better it makes this a must have and I have been totally satisfied with mine. Hope you enjoy yours.

    So far so good

Bought this for my daughters 11th bday. We own the 3ds, ds lite, Ds XL and now the 2ds. I honestly would recommend this model more for the younger kids like my daughter. The thickness makes me feel a little more confident that it will be able to take the ware & tare that a kid can put on a handheld like this. The lack of hinges like the others makes less possibilities of problems also. My younger son broke off his top screen to his ds lite within a few months as an example. The 2ds seems a lot harder and a lot better design in my opinion. Would def. recommend & will likely replace any future broken ds’s in our household with this model.

Honestly the Best DS product Nintendo Made.

It is a great size, both screens are legible, buttons are solid, and the sound is great, even with headphones. It was able to play all my DS, DSi, and 3DS games with no problems, and it has all the features of a 3DS and a DS in terms of the online functions, Access to Games to download and other fun features. SD card slot was a good size and it was able to connect to my computer with not trouble at all.If you are someone who wants a 3DS, but does not want to pay a great amount, then this is for you. I know they are marketing to children, but I am 20 years old and thought that this was the cats meow of Nintendo Handhelds! I personally did not need the 3D feature of the 3DS and since my other DS broke, I did not want to buy 2 systems. This is a great middle ground. HIGHLY Recommend.

Friend loves it- the most affordable thing Nintendo makes

My friend loves it. He’s the sort of person who’s always losing things, but whenever he can find both this and its charger, he is very much enjoying the few games he owns for it. And he tells me he likes the huge back catalog to work though. Here’s hoping the eShop stays supported for another few years at least- this handheld has had a great run. Both his specific unit, and the 3DS family as a whole. It may not be as good looking or specced-up as the New 2DS or 3DS, but for the same price as those, you get this plus another game or two, and that’s what some of us like, apparently.

A great choice for those who break the hinge style DS Gameboys.

Great for kids who keep destroying hinges on the normal DS based flip open Gameboys. If you also spend a lot of time playing 3ds games with the 3D mode turned off, then this makes a great substitute too. It plays the 3D 3ds games with no problem, just in 2d mode.A bit odd to hold if you are really used to the classic DS hinged units, with the shoulder buttons at the hinge point. But you get used to the new location. Hey.. they had to go somewhere.. the top edge is as good as any other. If you are buying this for someone who hasn’t played the old style system, then this will present no problems for them.

Good product, but annoying volume control

Well, I bought this to play the ds zero escape 999, and the Zelda ds and 3ds games, but I also bought Mario Kart 7 to bring back some memories. Well, I do not like the 3d feature, so I thought the 2ds would be better for me since it is cheaper. I am not regretting it certainly, because it is comfortable and a good way to entertain myself for a considerably lower price, so I cannot deny this does its job; HOWEVER, there is one annoyance it has! The first day I got this I was playing Mario Kart which requires to use L and R buttons a lot, and the volume control which is on the L button side was moving as I played pressing L (the volume control is very responsive and would move with anything) This raises or lowers the volume drastically. Any action games that require a lot of hand movement would probably trigger this. This is not a big deal, but it may upset some buyers, so be aware.

False Advertising: Mario Kart 7 is not pre-installed!!!

Product came in excellent condition and seems to be functional as far as I can tell. But I was pretty disappointed that Mario Kart 7 was not included as advertised. I purposely didn’t purchase any additional games because of this, and now I my son is unable to play it until I do. Overall it’s a good product, but I do think the advertisement and packaging needs to be changed since it is false. Based off of other reviews, I am not the only one that experienced this problem, so if you order this, make sure to purchase games as well!
