Nostalgia versus modern era pokemon game

This game is just a good adventure for new players and for long term fans. I played red and my brother blue version in 1999. Have so much memories for those times that i wanted to just play the original version again in the modern era and was not disapointed. The game is easy and let you just enjoy it, the catch system is pokemon-go which is the only con i would put in the game since i dont like that much that system. But is a cute well made adventure. And oh boy kanto looks gorgeous. Is a must buy in my opinion if you like pokemon and have a switch

    GLITCHES

Let’s Go Pikachu is NOT a glitchy game but the cartridge sent to me is completely glitchy for some reason. I am so unhappy with this purchase! I’ve heard so many good things about this game and I can’t even enjoy it because my game is so glitchy. No parts in it are glitchy besides running/walking. I can’t run or work normally in the game without it completely glitching and making my character switch between running or walking on it’s own or stopping completely. I screen recorded the game messing up. This is what I’m dealing with.

    Definitely overpriced

Pokemon Red was my first game (when I was 7) and unfortunately that was a far greater challenge than this one. I have completed the game and pokedex twice now after two weeks and 60 hours of gameplay. There is a lot of stuff missing; game corner, wild pokemon battling, no bicycle, weakening wild pokemon to catch, pokemon abilities, global trade station and fishing. I could forgive this quite easily as there are some good new features. However there is next to no post-game. There are a few repeatable battles (gym leaders and elite four) but due to the new catching mechanics and overworld spawns the pokedex is really easy to complete, the only other thing you can do is shiny hunt pokemon. In order to level up post game you have to catch hundreds of the same pokemon, but there isn’t much point as you can’t use them in many battles anyway. The experience gained for your party is greater for catching than battling.Overall I spent around £110 on the pokeball controller (at £40 it is £15 more expensive than a single joycon and not compatible for any other game), £50 on the game itself and £20 on a yearly online subscription. The online is awful by the way only allowing you to trade pokemon and do single or double battles. These can only be accessed through using a link code and not just entered like the global trading station or global battling station. There are no tournaments and you have a choice of around 10 pokemon to use if you want to win any online battles because the others aren’t strong enough. I seriously doubt this game would be much of a challenge for a 4 year old child.

Walk 2 steps Pokemon battle, walk 2 steps Pokemon battle

Everything about the actual map and art style is great but man if this isn’t the most repetitive, tedious game i’ve ever played for £44.99 then I don’t know what is. I put in a good 15 hours and it’s literally walk 2 steps pokemon battle, walk 2 steps pokemon battle. Hoping the core games that come out soon have more variation. I can understand that this is simply meant to cash in on pokemon go but if that’s the case don’t charge £44.99.

    Not a good Pokemon game

I bought this thinking Nintendo had finally made a proper full Pokemon game on one of their consoles instead of a handheld. I was right and I was wrong. Sure its a Pokemon game but they have tried to marry the handheld Pokemon games with the mobile Pokemon Go game and it comes across as severly lacking.1) they completely did away with the computer system that had been in the pokemon games since day 1 in the red/blue games. Instead you are supposed to cart over your Pokemon from Pokemon Go instead. Which leads me to my next point.2) they did away with the safari zone completely. replacing it with a “Go Park” where you can import your pokemon from the Go mobile game.3) all the HM techniques are gone and they are all replaced with special moves your Pikachu/Eevee can learn instead. Moves like Surf and Fly are now normal moves only used in battle. You CAN fly around with a pokemon knowing fly on ONE SINGLE stretch of road yipee4) pokemon in the wild (tall grass) are not battled anymore. instead you throw pokeballs and berries at them like in Pokemon Go. forget trying to catch the tougher ones like Jinx and Mr. Mime without a master ball eitherOverall I am really dissapointed with this game and wish they had simply made the Pokermon Yellow remake instead of this hybrid nonsense.

    Gonna Catch Em All

I was so over joyed when I finally received this game today. I don’t know why people are complaining about this game because you can only catch wild pokemon or feed them (it’s something that we all have to get used to it). Game Freak surprises me every time when they release new video games based on pokemon and all I can say is to keep up with the good work. My favourite part on this game is that you can get your pokemon out of their pokeball and they will walk with you where ever you go?. I can’t wait to start riding on them and I have been waiting for this day to come since I was a child.

    Very good game

A fun recreation of an original pokemon game, however I feel it is made a lot easier and there for quicker to complete.

After all these years I’ve finally completed the Pokedex!

This is a fantastic game and a great nostalgic throwback to Pokemon Yellow and after finishing it – I want more!!There is no doubt about it this is Pokemon at it’s most simple which is both good and bad. The game is ridiculously easy. Whenever there is a hard bit, it’s too easy to find a way around it. Struggling to catch a Pokémon – shake the other controller and use 2 Pokéballs at once to double your chances! The game allows you to do 2 v 1 against any trainer battle which, while great for allowing people to introduce young kids etc to the games, the battles become too easy.Everything about the original Pokemon Yellow, down to checking Pikachu’s happiness level whilst walking around is brought over from the original and enhanced massively. When checking Pickahu you can pet and feed him which whilst it seems childish, as a 29 year old – I found myself doing it before asking Pikachu to cut down trees etc just to hear that cute happy squeal!Oh, did I mention I completed the Pokédex? I never managed this on the original but with the help of Pokémon Go on my phone and trading with random people online, I managed to collect the Eevee version exclusives. All of the additions help this game and all have clearly been thought out to refine this game for its intended purpose. Introduce a new generation to Pokémon in the same way that we were back in the 90s. All updated for a modern audience, making it different enough for the original trainers to enjoy.

No gloom, but take a chansey

I love this. Play yellow a lot as a kid and this is such a good remake. Any fan of the games will enjoy. There is some changes that may upset original fan but I felt it improved my game.
