    Great Portable Monitor

First LookUpon opening the package, I first saw with the foam protective covering over the monitor. Then upon lifting that I saw the monitor itself. The first thing that crossed my mind is “WOW! this is thin!” as I set it aside to check and see what cables it came with.Setup and usageOne thing that was highly convenient in the setup process is that every setting was already in English. A nice change from other portable monitors I have received and then had to use Google Translate to find out how to put it into English. Another nice thing was that it runs by plugging in a USB Type-C cable (and can even run off a power bank!). This is highly convenient for me since most of the uses for this tablet were for mirroring my laptop screen and by mirroring my Nintendo Switch. Both of these worked out great in my testing. I also used a Type-C-to-Type-C cable to test out mirroring my Android phone screen.ConclusionConsidering the price of this tablet and the size of the screen, the usage definitely makes up for the price. This one will likely replace the former portable monitor for playing outside the house on my Switch. Outstanding tablet. I can highly recommend it. One wish for the future though is for it to have a touch screen for usage with phone and laptop

    Convenient

I like that it is small. It fits inside my laptop bag with my laptop. It also looks great. Just hoping that it lasts for a while. As a suppy nco, this is going to be great for use in the field. I had to buy an additional part, but it works.

    Don’t leave home without it!

In my office I enjoy my two 32″ monitors to go along my laptop. When traveling I loathe the loss of productivity having just a 15″ laptop screen. Over the years I tried using my iPad as a second monitor but I didn’t like that option.I am on a business trip currently and found this product on Amazon and it just arrived at my hotel earlier today and I am in love with it.It actually produces a better quality image than my laptop so I am using this portable monitor for Photoshop and other graphic design applications. It is also slim enough to fit nicely into my laptop bag.Absolutely love it and highly recommend it.

Very reasonable price for a quality portable monitor

Bought this as a second monitor for my wife’s new HP x360 so she could work at home during CV-19. Product was received quickly and in good condition. At first, we tried to set it up using USB-C to USB-C. Her laptop is supposed to support an additional monitor through that port, but that didn’t work. Then we tried HDMI to mini-HDMI on the Virzen and USB-C to the USB-C power input on the Virzen. That worked, though the screen was a little dim. I reached out to Virzen by email to see if they had any suggestions about the brightness. They (Nana) replied promptly and suggested that if using the HDMI input, brightness would be improved by powering the monitor using AC power and their included adapter. Tried that, and it worked fine. We were able to increase the brightness until it matched the brightness of her laptop. We are now completely satisfied with the product. I did add a 5-inch length of rubber hose along the front edge to keep the monitor from slipping on smooth surfaces. I used 5/16-inch gasoline line sliced lengthwise.Suggestion to Virzen: Your brief instructions are written in ESL English. Why not reach out to those of us who enjoy your product. I’m sure we would be glad to help you reword the instructions so they would be a little smoother and clearer for future native English-speaking purchasers. Just an idea.

    Bad experience

I typically do not write alot of reviews although I order alot of products from Amazon, when ordering this monitor the first thing is it does stand well by itself although that not a big issue I ordered a stand to put it on. I quality of it is okay does the job for me as for as the visual picture of the monitor. Next is that the screen would flicker here and there although I followed the instructions on how to prevent that from happening. My biggest issue is when I received the monitor the sound did not work at all. When I would unhook it the sound worked fine on my laptop but when I connect it the sound stops working, now randomly the sound started working did do anything, it just started working. Now a few days later the sound stopped working again, I talked to Amazon support and they stated it could be a faulty cable but the cable seems fine although the quality doesnt seem to be that good. The sound is currently still not working I hate to leave a bad review but felt the need to state the real issues with this monitor.

Display and Audio quality is amazing.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

Setting up the monitor was very easy out of the box. I plugged it into my switch directly without the switch dock via the usb c port. Not to mention the audio quality is pretty nice compared to the other usb portable monitors out there. I was also able to connect the power through my power brick and they also provided a power adapter if you don’t have one. Plugging it into my. Samsung s9+ was just as easy. I’ll be taking this bad boy on my travels in the future for sure. Some things to note:When you plug your Nintendo Switch or Phone with a USB type C port into the monitor, it will require a second power connection because the Switch or phone does not provide enough voltage to power up the monitor. If you plug the monitor to your phone or switch alone, you will encounter a flickering problem but can be resolved by providing a second power connection. When plugging the USB type-c cable into your device, be sure to plug the end cable to the middle USB type c port of the monitor for the best audio quality. I believe the top USB type-c port was meant for the power adapter. To access the setting, push down on the scroll on the side of the monitor and push down on it again to select.

Worth purchasing as a second monitor!!

I purchased to use with my Intel Stick and didn’t work as expected. Problems are1. When the speaker is turned on to full volume the monitor started rebooting.2. Kickstand! It just slides off. Wasn’t holding the monitor straight. With the problems explained, it will be hard to use this monitor with Intel Stick from my experience. You need multiple accessories. 1) Cable to connect the stick to the monitor as the monitor need a mini HDMI connection 2) Keyboard and mouse 3) Power for monitor and the Stick. With all these things you will have a hard time using this monitor with Intel Stick.Good as a second monitor for your laptop or desktop. Lightweight and sleek. A fairly good amount of volume to watch a movie.Only because of the stand I am giving a 3 Stars. Hope the manufacturer can change that make it better.

Good value for the money. Consistency could be improved.

UPDATE 10/4/2019: I recently spoke with Virzen’s Customer Support and they corrected my original review. The back of the monitor is glass, not plastic as I originally thought. They also offered to send me a number of accessories to test and review as well, so I will update again once I have those. The Customer Support has been very responsive and polite in answering my questions. For this reason I have increased my rating from four stars to five. Background:I purchased this monitor with my own money after looking at numerous other options. The first monitor that I received had a damaged box(the product box, not the shipping box) and the bezel/frame around the screen had pulled away from the screen and been bent. I tried to push it back into place but the adhesive would not hold and the bend placed too much pressure on the panel causing light bleed. I contacted Virzen and they directed me to contact Amazon. No issues there. Amazon refunded my money and I purchased another of these monitors. The replacement monitor showed up in a few days and in pristine packaging. Further examination led to the discovery of some discrepancies. They are:1. The box for the original did not have a cardboard sleeve around it that says “Virzen Portable Monitor” like the new one does.2. The new one was shrink-wrapped, the original was not.3. The new one has a micro-USB OTG port, I do not think the original did.4. The USB-C to USB-C cable included with the new one looks to be of higher quality and was tied with a Velcro wrap rather than a plastic sleeve. This is much preferred.5. The internal packaging on the new one was much better. The screen was wrapped in a plastic sleeve and sandwiched between two sheets of foam. The original only had the plastic sleeve and one sheet of foam on the screen. It seems that the original I received may have been previously owned and possibly an older variant of this device. Now to focus on the new device.Overview:The image quality is good and clear. It has a decently bright picture, but it could stand to be a little brighter. I was really happy to see that all the necessary cables(USB C – USB C, USB A – USB C, HDMI – HDMI) were included and they were a reasonable length. They also included a wire stand and a USB wall plug. Setup and usage is very simple and really cuts down on the needed cables. You can plug your laptop charger(USB-C) into the top port of the screen and then plug the USB-C – USB-C cable into the main port on the laptop and get to work. The screen will be able to run at full brightness and your laptop will charge in this configuration, thus only needing one additional cable. Fantastic.Build:The overall build quality seems good, with the bezel/frame being made out of a thin metal presumably aluminum. The back of the monitor seems to be made out of a nice glossy plastic. Ports are a little tight at first but honestly, I prefer that over loose ones. The cables seem to be decent with the USB-C – USB-C being the most premium feeling. On the whole, it feels well made and is surprisingly light despite the partially metal construction. It is reasonably rigid and does not have too much flex.Complaints/Suggestions for Improvement:These are in no particular order.1. I would like to see all the accessories matching as currently the USB wall plug and USB-A cable are white and everything else is black.2. The adhesive around the top of the bezel/frame still seems weak and needs to be improved.3. There is a small gap around the control box on the back of the screen that allows light to escape when the unit is powered on.4. The control wheel on the right side of the unit can be a little difficult to use while holding the screen but using a stand(there is a wire one included) mostly resolves this.5. I would like to see all the accessories matching as currently the USB wall plug and USB-A cable are white and everything else is black.6. A micro-USB to USB-A would be a welcome addition to the kit to make use of the OTG port without needing to buy an additional piece.7. A folio-style case or some kind of case that protects the screen is desperately needed. The panel is very thin and I worry about scratches or damage when carrying it in a bag or backpack.8. Perhaps the case could also incorporate some kind of cable storage behind the screen to make use of the space between the back of the panel and the back of the control box.9. Packaging needs to be consistently used and package assembly could be improved. The accessory area in the box was not placed properly and the accessories had shifted and were wedged deep in the box. I fixed this for the photos.10. It would be nice if the maximum screen brightness were a little higher.11. Velcro straps on all of the cables would be nice. It would cut down on waste, be more useful and would add to a premium fit and finish.12. More padding in the box would be better. There is a customer picture on Amazon for the 13-inch version and everything is encased in foam. This would be a better option.

A little heavy, but great quality

I have tried a couple of portable USB-C monitors and this was the one for me. There were a couple that were a lot heavier than this and I actually bought this and one that wasn’t a touch screen to see which I liked best. The non-touch screen one used mini-HDMI ports and although it had 2 ports, I didn’t really want to worry about bringing the HDMI cable with me when I used this. The non-touch screen wasn’t as heavy, but it came down to the mini-HDMI vs full sized HDMI. I was able to plug in my laptop, and a mini pc to this and it recognized the touch screen immediately when I connected the USB-C cable. I like having this second screen that is the size of my laptop helping me to be more efficient with work, and just packing 2 cables the USB-C and the HDMI cables with me. The speaker is pretty good. I have tried this with the Nintendo Switch and the monitor works great with the switch, but it doesn’t recognize the touch screen which is a bummer. The only con I have on this the battery, if you have the brightness turned up, it drains a cell phone really quick if the touch screen isn’t connected to an external power source while connected to the phone. The phone by itself will easily power the screen, but it drains the battery.

    Super Slim and Light

Very pleasantly surprised to find how slim and light the display is. Plugged into my MacBook Pro and it worked immediately. the only minor negative I could say is that they display is not very bright even with the brightness turned all the way up. many of my peers have farm more expensive portable displays but none as crisp, clear and light as this one.
