    buggy & clunky but pretty

very buggy, and controls aren’t nearly as fluid as previous installments. however, the game is visually appealing despite the laser bugs.

Worst Assassin’s Creed Title in recent years

Terrible game. Huge waste of time and money. How on earth this was passed as a “next installment” especially for next gen consoles is beyond me. The snow tech looks horrible when compared to outdated game from ps3 era (Batman AO). The level of texture quality is laughable, blurry pixelated medium to high pc settings at best. This game lacks so much content such as Naval combat and bounty hunter system. The bird scout is useless. Map is divided into borderlands style system vs one massive world. The skill tree is dialed back to basic combat vs powered attacks like in last two games before it.Overall it’s terrible, but the last two games for a deal via this heap

One step Forward for AC, Two Steps Back In Quality

For the physical copy, there’s not much to say- it’s simply the AC Valhalla disk inside, and it also comes with a free code (redeemable in the PlayStation Store) for an extra mission called “The Way of the Berserker.”With that out of the way, the game is a stark contrast compared to the former most recent installment of the Assassin’s Creed series, AC Odyssey. When AC Odyssey was focused on open-world exploration, AC Valhalla focuses on settlement- where AC Odyssey values multiple quests of varying storylines, AC Valhalla contains within the main plotline. They essentially made the game much “grindier”. That is, the game is focused on constant activities of similar repetition in order to progress through the main storyline. However, less emphasis is placed on the acquisition of money and items- while some may find the gathering of all items within a game to be unnecessarily tedious, others may find enjoyable. It’s all in the matter of what you seek in a game. The bugs in this game, however, are extremely displeasing to see. On “Performance” mode of this game (found in the optional settings), the game is set to run at 60fps on the new PlayStation 5. However, it comers with a hoard of bugs, ranging from rendering errors in parts of the map (glitched out locations), lighting changing every small action you take, as well as mouths not moving on characters during conversation. Similar bugs can be found in “Quality” mode, albeit not as pronounced as “Performance” mode.I would strongly suggest that you wait until new patches are released to actually purchase the game, so these bugs can be addressed and fixed. These sorts of releases seems to be a common theme in production companies these days- to release a buggy, somewhat finished game, and patch it until it is in a stable state. AC Valhalla sits comfortably within that description.

    So far so good

The game is heavily story driven. It is a bit of a a slow pace and not running around like the other Assassin’s Creed games. It is slow in the beginning and it gives you a whole story. It makes you really invested. Game play is the same and more interesting that you get introduced into doing moves that you normally could do at the start of other games.I am being vague since I do not want to spoil anything. Also, as of where I am at in the game, traveling also takes time on the boat I have.Personally, I find it fun and a different way of playing. There is less sneaking around that I would normally have been doing. Which saves time when trying to fight off other enemies. Raiding is a nice feature.Healing is different – you have to be a lot more careful about your health. You can build up your ration satchel and store more rations to heal you up during battle. Learn how to parry, it helps a lot.The voice acting is lacking though. Not enough emotion for some of the characters. They sound down right bored with life.I am curious how the whole game plays out. Whenever I finish the game, perhaps I’ll update this review with a bit more of an insight.

    My first AC game, bleh

Playing on PS5 , I ordered because I wanted a game and this looked best for release day titles. So far like folks have said its just not that entertaining. The combat feels stiff. Also, im not sure if it was the game or ps5, but it completely froze up and I had to do a power reset…

Everything you would hope for in assassin’s creed – minus the graphics

This game brings the old mechanics back from the games of the “prime years of assassins creed” and puts it into a open world with good stealth. No more gameplay that feels arcade like. This game is everything assassin’s creed is supposed to be…and that’s coming from someone who loved origins and odyssey and I have the platinum on odyssey. But with all of that said: the graphics do not feel next gen at all. Great game…just not a good example of true “next gen” gaming.

Boring, Same game with different skins

I was excited for this release because I haven’t played the AC series in a bit. I find this game to be so similar to Origins it’s disappointing. The wilderness and world is huge, but there is little to do in it. The settlements are small with a lot of dead area in between. The missions all feel very similar to one another and the combat system falls a little flat. I played it about 10 hours, hoping it would pick up after the beginning, but it just didn’t.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game! Well worth the money paid.

I am a longtime fan of the assassin’s creed series. I remember getting my brother to buy me the first one back in 2007. I have not played all of them but I’ve loved every single one I played. My list of these games includes: AC1, AC2, AC Brotherhood, AC3, AC IV Black Flag, AC Rogue, AC Unity, AC Origins, and this being the latest addition to my list. Never got the chance to play Odyssey unfortunately. The mechanics began to change in later Assassin’s creeds beginning with Origins. A bit different but didn’t take much to get used to, actually felt like it added a bit more challenge. Valhalla brings you to the age of the Vikings, one of the most violent cultures ever to be known in history. We see many parts of Norway as well as England. In Norway you see the Vikings way of life from their acts of pillaging to their customs and traditions. In England parts you start to see the very real, at that time in history, power struggle between the Danes(Vikings) and the Saxons(British). You will meet the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok which if you see the show or know the history then you’ll know he is the very first Viking that set out for England and settled there. The world is massive and there are many arcs pertaining to the different arcs of England and Norway that you will explore. There is even a little treat Arc dealing with the Era of the Gods, won’t say more than that. This is not a game you will beat in one day. If you play only a few hours a day it’s well worth the money. Although, like myself, if it’s hard to put down the controller when playing an AC game then you may be able to beat it in less than a week :D. Seriously though its a good game. Some negatives is that there are some bugs and glitches but I experienced nothing that prevented me from playing the game further and I’m sure any bugs will get patched as the game is fairly new. Again I really enjoyed this game and look forward to see what they have in store for the next one.

A BIG step in the right direction! Amazing game!

There are so many bad reviews. Please ignore them!If you love AC you will love this game. I’m 80 hours in and probably about 1/3 through the game. I’m a big fan of AC II, AC Brotherhood, AC III, and Syndicate. I’m not a huge fan of Odyssey or Origins. This game takes the parts that were fantastic from Odyssey and Origins (maps, raven, etc.) and fixes the the issues (better fighting, even better map, fantastic storyline, etc.). It has elements of God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and RDR II in it that are steps in the right direction for sure! This is my favorite AC game at this point and I have played them all. I love ACII because of the storyline. This game has a good story (so far), but that’s not what makes it better. The HUGE map full of side quests and mysteries, the amazing graphics, and the way in which you upgrade your abilities and your village make it superior to all other AC games.Great job Ubisoft! Do not hesitate to buy this game!

    Great game, horrible condition

Amazing game, but please don’t buy it from Amazon. This is how mine arrived today, completely destroyed, packaging shows no damage and. Based off of the condition of the plastic wrapping on the outside and the torn front cover it was clearly done before shipping. Not worth saving the money to get it here on sale.
