Incredible first impression for mechanical keyboards as a whole

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

This keyboard is my first experience with mechanical keyswitches, and I am thoroughly pleased with it. Upon research, testing, and cross-referencing with friends, the keyboard features offbrand cherry blue switches that are slightly louder than officials but maintain the overall tactile feel. There’s a lot of keycap wobble which may cause your finger to slip, but I’ve only experienced it a handful of times in the little over a week period of heavy use. It is not full RGB, it only features the LEDs in their current color and state, but there’s 14 different lighting modes and brightness control. The keyboard ships in box with a wrist rest, 3 (possibly meant to be 4) extra blue switches, and a keycap remover. The LEDs aren’t especially bright, compared to the HP Omen Reactor mouse I use in tandem, but it was undoubtedly the best place to cut corners. The build quality is incredibly solid; there’s very little flex, there’s a genuine weight to the board, and the two rubber feet on the bottom prevent slippage very well. This keyboard is NOT intended for avid mechanical keyboard hobbyists; it’s best interest is to get you to dip your toes into the water and see if you prefer it over the standard office keyboard. As always, you could save $10 or $15 more to buy something with a reputable brand name, but if you need a mechanical keyboard with no option to wait, this is a perfect option to do so. You could even find it listed cheaper, since multiple companies sourced this product from the same OEM, unbranded at that. For gaming, it’s held up well in numerous titles. From Minecraft to Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends, even to something like osu! not a single input was dropped or unaccounted for. The level of precision given is phenomenal for the price. The LEDs, while dim, do illuminate the keys enough to be visible but not distracting.Overall, my only gripe with this keyboard is that I wish I had gotten myself a mechanical sooner.

    Unbelivable Value!!!

Absolutely stunned!!! Never had a mechanical keyboard before!!! Never knew what I was missing!!! But I was always reluctant to pay $150+ for one because I go through keyboards at a fairly fast rate, just the nature of the beast and can’t be helped, but for under $30 its not an issue anymore. I am in love with these blue switches and now could never go back to a membrane keyboard. The limited lighting options are not a big deal as that is secondary, it does look beautiful when lit and its easy enough to switch off the lights when needed, the mechanical aspect takes precedence for me. If you have ever wondered what it feels like to type on a mechanical keyboard you can’t go wrong giving the ChonChow a try. Yes, the blue switches are rather loud but I find it part of the charm, really makes the typing aspect seem special.

A very good keyboard with a nice clicky feel

I’ve been wanting to try a clicky keyboard for years. I used them for ~30 years and have missed the feel. This keyboard was on lightning deal and I decided it was worth the price (around $20’ish) to try it out. I figured how could I go wrong, unless it just didn’t work?It works just fine and I’m happy I bought it. If it breaks, I’ll come back and update my review. One thing I’ve gotten used to very quickly is the ability to have whatever key(s) I want lit up. It makes finding the J & F keys on the Home Row easy (I’m a touch typist). I’m not interested in having flashing lights so that feature is not important to me, but having a few specific keys stand out is quite a bonus.

Great performance. All for 20 bucks.

This keyboard is so much better than my current Corsair K90 mechanical mx cherry red keyboard purchased in 2013. The backlight is bright enough to easily locate any keys. The blue switches are fun to type on with very good sound and tactile response. Every single key on the keyboard have mechanical switches, they didn’t cut corners in that department. The dedicated vol up/down/mute buttons and calculator button are a perfect addition to this keyboard. The palm rest is nice and comfy. The rubber feet grips extremely well on my computer desk. Got it for 20 bucks on the lightning deals 3 days ago. What a steal.

So far, this is a great keyboard for the $$

I’ve only been using this keyboard for a day, but I’m using it for work, so there’s definitely been a lot of typing. So far, all of the buttons work, and there are a lot of lighting settings available, and even some custom slots. I haven’t really done much…I’m mostly a “solid on” kind of light person. The wrist extension is pretty decent…it helps if you’re used to the slim chicklet style boards, which I am. The sound is very satisfying, but if you’re a hard typist, then you’ll actually get more noise from the bottoming out than you will from the blue switches. I haven’t had any issues with missing letters while typing, which can be an issue with the membrane type (probably why I attack the keys so hard). I think this is a great keyboard for the price, especially if you’re just getting into mechanical keyboards, or haven’t used one since the old IBMs that were around when I first started on computers (why did I throw away all of those keyboards years ago???). I would get another one for the office, but I know too many people who would complain about the noise…LOL!

Cheapest Mechanical Keyboard – You Get What You Pay For

I received my CHONCHOW keyboard today, after unpacking I could immediately notice a few flaws in the product. Most notably, on the right side of the keyboard there is a fairly large chunk of paint missing, could this be a used unit just cleaned and refurbished? Or just a factory scuff? The actual back-plate behind the keys is cheap and you can push it in and it’s loose in a couple places. That being said, the keyboard does function. It does have that signature mechanical keyboard click and feel, the keys feel very cheap and the keyboard itself is kind of heavy and blocky. But, it is a VERY cheap keyboard. So far, the keys work, it types and functions and the cheap wrist rest works as functions. Not sure if it’s worth sending back over that paint scuff, I’ll continue to test it this week to make sure there are no more defects and that it functions properly.I did not expect much from the keyboard, my original keyboard just broke and I needed something cheap to replace it in the meantime and I absolutely need a mechanical keyboard. It does what it needs to do. All the buttons seem to work so far. It comes with 2 replacement switches and a key remover tool.

    Plug in and done

Thought I was buying just a basic keyboard that lit up but I was so wrong. Once I plugged it in, it did light up. However, after reading the instructions, this keyboard lights up in several different ways. You can have it stay lit the whole time using it, you can have it flash, light up in different ways when you are using or off when you don’t want it on. The keys are really easy to use and whether using this to play games or actually typing, it’s really comfortable to use. I’ve used other gaming keyboards where it felt like I had to stretch my fingers excessively to type certain letters. With this keyboard, I don’t have that issue. The number pad is also very helpful. The thing I love about this keyboard is that it comes with a wrist attachment that helps with supporting my wrists and everyone else’s who uses this without having to purchase something extra. Really great keyboard and fun to use.

This is a great cheap mechanical keyboard.

This is a great cheap mechanical keyboard, and this isn’t a bad thing. It is stable, has some weight so it doesn’t slide around, great lighting (but I do wish there was an option for mono-lighting). The rainbow effect was throwing me off with so many different colors per row. However, I got used to it. It clicks and clacks, and I think I’m going to purchase some brown or red switches to quiet them down. Love the option that I can do that. Yes, I know, for the total cost, I could have just gotten a brown switch keyboard. However, that is just something to think about, and the real reason I got this is that it’s low cost, mechanical, and has dedicated volume controls. Why loud is on the left, and quiet is on the right side of each other is perplexing. Another odd thing is that I want all the LEDs to light up, however, only lights up when CAPS lock, NUM lock are on, and Windows button is disabled will they light up. I can understand CAPS lock and Num lock, but if one wishes to have Windows button enabled, won’t it be on and not off? Oh well, not a deal breaker. Especially at this price point. Will update if run into any issues.
