    650 pages!!! good grief

You know your RPG is massive when the game guide is 650 pages long…. very very helpful. i wish the index was little bit better–if i want to search by the name of the ruin or fort, for example, it’s often not listed in the index. If i know what quest line things are under, great (that’s how the table of contents is organized, by quest lines).if i don’t know what quest line to look under, scanning the 3 pages of small print in the table of contents is a little annoying.A great guide for the skyrim fan. much easier than running to the computer to search for answers if i run into a snag or want to know where something is.unrelated: I wish the Missing in Action quest diplomacy option was finishable via xbox but maybe that bug will be resolved eventually.

    Exceeded my expectations

Its a game guide. Expectations are hard to exceed, however, this game guide exceeded mines. I usually don’t buy game guides, because in my opinion they cost too much, most of the info can be found free online, and im pretty good at video games anyways. Skyrim, however, was a game that i knew i had to get a guide for. I haven’t played any of the TES games, so i knew nothing about Bethesda’s games. That was one of my reasons for purchasing this guide. Also, many dungeons are confusing and you can get lost easily. Another reason to get this guide, is that it provides detailed information on every quest, location, and place. It also provides detail on every item, ingredient, spell, and how to get them.If you look at the picture, it looks like this guide is about half a foot long, and pretty thin. Don’t judge a book by its cover. This book is very large, and very thick. It has more than 600 pages! The book also comes with a big foldout map that is detailed, showing all holds, cities, dragon mounds, roads, and landmarks. I highly recommend this guide to anyone whose never played a Bethesda game before, and even people who have played previous TES games will still find this guide helpful.

A MUST for anyone playing Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I picked up the game Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim but quickly found myself lost in the game. I thought picking up this guide might aid in my gaming and help keep track of the items and missions. This Game guide is a hard cover and is built to last which is a good thing. The game is so large you will constantly be referencing to this book. Soft-back game guides have a tendency to have pages come loose from the glue that attaches them to the spine which I feel will not be an issue here. The content of the game guide is incredible! It is mentioned that the company ,Prima, took over 2,000 hours to complete and it shows! You have a walk through on the main quest, side quest, information on how to beat the enemies, locations for items as well as information on items, weapons, and armor.PROS:++ Hard Cover and built to last++ Detailed and very informativeCONS:++ Included map is glued and smallCONCLUSIONThis guide is a must for anyone that is playing Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim let it be a fan of the series who wants every task completed or someone that is new and needs assistance.

A guide worthy of the game

This guide sets a new standard for game guides. It’s answered every question I’ve had without a single inaccuracy. Every quest is covered, every beast, every ingredient, every skill book location, not to mention dungeon maps, gear tables, character builds, etc.The author has managed to document every little detail of the game (as far as I can tell) and get it right. Bethesda ought to hire this guy and make him the head of quality assurance, because he’s clearly an OCD perfectionist detail-freak of rare order. Which isn’t to say the guide is just a cold hard list of facts: the tone is engaging and even humorous at times. It’s actually a pleasure to read.Oh, and it has a good index, which makes it much easier to find what you’re looking for. This guide is a must buy for anyone who wants to dig into the depths of this game, if you don’t mind getting a little help along the way.

Would NOT want to do without it!

Everything (good) that everyone here said about this book is 100% true in my opinion.I got the book from amazon in perfect condition in WAY less timethan anticipated (since I got standard shipping and it took only 2 days to get here!)The guidebook is BIG.Very impressive and FULL of important information about everything Skyrim.I mean , the VERY first day I got it (just less than an hour ago) I used it.I contracted vampirism in the game and instead of stopping the game to go to say TES:Skyrim Wikia , I paused the game and quickly learned to travel to Morthal ,meet Falion ,acquire a Black Soul Gem and have Falion perform a Ritual to rid me of the disease! Right to the point and I moved along to whatever I was doing at the time. The quality of the book itself is VERY nice.Thick quality pages with very nice (although a bit small) font and illustrations.Plus you get a nice map to go with it although I dread ripping it out of the book.If I had more money I would’ve went for the hardcover edition but this is extremely well done and I don’t really regret not ordering hardcover that much.Highly recommended to anyone who wants to get as much out of Skyrim as possible and also to the fans of this awesome and beautiful gem of a game.PS I’ll buy the hardcover edition eventually – but never use it 🙂

Decent reference guide for a crazy open-ended game.

Skyrim is one of those games where it’s sort of impossible to do a real “walkthrough” style guide. It’s a completely open world, and there are some things that you are allowed to do (sometimes even encouraged to do) that will make other choices rather difficult or impossible. This guide does a pretty good job on equipping you with maps and lists of which quests can be found in each area and the conditions to complete them, as well as a listing of what is expected of you for the “main game quest” series of tasks. So don’t treat this as a step-by-step instruction manual for beating the game. Instead think of it as a reference guide, like an encyclopedia, that you will use to look up certain things as you work your way across the land in Skyrim.

    Good Guide

This is a good guide and will help you out a lot.The biggest drawback are the maps. There are no “world” maps in it. At least none that show how the regions border each other. As such, when you need a map of a particular place you’ll wind up paging through the guide.

    Ultimate Guide

I have a bad memory. So when the game mentions “EverGreen” I just look it up in the index and find the whole story. If I can’t figure out whether the Hammerfell guys want that lady dead for a good reason, I look up the full story in this book. This book is written with inside information from Bethesda, so even Bethesda’s in game info won’t tell you everything this book will.I don’t just use this book to help me with missions. Sometimes during the mission I want more information on the mission as to why certain events are happening or whether I should go see someone else first, I consult the book. It really sucks to have to play parts of the game over because you didn’t know you could talk to the Jarl first and he would send two people with you. Also has guides for Races, Classes, Character building, enemies you will encounter and their levels, all of that sort of thing.Does not have cheat codes, item lists, or any other PC codes.

Incredible wealth of information, poor organization and index

I normally eschew strategy guides, but my wife’s something of a completionist, so at $16 this was really hard to pass up.I won’t go too in-depth, but after a few days of owning it I’m both awestruck and disappointed. My thoughts, in no particular order:(1) How in the world is this not $30 or more? There’s no wasted space in this 656-page monster. It’s evident that a ton of time and effort went into it.(2) I appreciate the subjective portions of the guide. I like to read and agree- or disagree-with an author’s assessments. If you’re selling a strategy guide, it’s good to see some actual strategy. There’s not a ton of it here, but they did me a favor by highlighting skill perks I otherwise might have missed. (Thank you Extra Pockets! And thanks for pointing out how those Critical Hit perks are really sort of iffy.) I rather wish there were a bit more of it.(3) The book is so dense, it’s easy to get lost in it. This is not helped by some weird organizational choices and a rather barren and useless index. So while I think everything is here – I can’t say for certain. You might find yourself jumping around from section to section for a single quest.(4) However, the map is really nice. Might be lamination-worthy.So it’s five-star content, but the organization drops it down a star. Still, it’s amazingly worth the money. Recommended, even though there’s free alternatives online.

    Excellent Resource

The hardcover Skyrim guide is fantastic. The amount of content that is in this guide is astounding. The pages are full color and of good quality. There was an edit of the original guide (as I have version 2) in which all of the complaints that I have read from other reviews seem to be addressed. The guide now warns of potential spoilers before reading quest details, has a much improved index, and is apparently spelling mistake free (as I have not run into any errors). I would recommend this guide to anyone as a supplement to the game. Can you get through the game without it? Sure you can, but being able to confirm that yes, your spells are less effective v. this enemy or no, it doesn’t matter if you kill random travelers on the road is very helpful. The crafting sections are also useful as it list necessary materials as well as the effects of all alchemy ingredients.Condensed version:Definitely buy this guide. Not only is it very helpful, but it looks amazing to boot.
