Simply the greatest racing sim ever

Absolutely incredible. Everything you could possibly want from a Formula 1 game. Intense, difficult and customisable. The addition of My Team is genius and in itself is potentially hundreds of hours of gameplay. My only gripe is Amazon dropping the price by £10 after less than 24 hours from launch. I paid £55 for the pre-order and certainly won’t be doing that again. Very disappointing by Amazon.

    Good but can improve

The game is very good, building on what they had in 2019, the addition of myteam is good but the limited livery options are not so good. Ai is improved and patches have made sure it stays relevant to the current season. Main criticism is the podium pass just feels like a quick cash grab and if it had a proper livery editor it would be worthless (probably why it doesn’t have one) the graphics can be ropey on occasion and once at monaco saw a pit crew member changing a tyre in the swimming pool section when the camera does a pass over before the race….. ai while improved can still be amazingly moronic and as a driver you will never get a dnf from a mechanical issue (sure not a big deal but spoils the realism when your teammate gets 5 dnf for a mechanical failure)

Probably more entertaining than the real thing

First F! game that I have purchased for many years have preferred sports car/saloon car gamesLike all games it has issues. The perfect game is a matter of personal choiceThe driver avatars are not that good, but this is a racing game after all. One glitch I found amusing for a while is that during the celebrations only the driver’s hands appeared. That’s subsequently been fixed. I have finished all the championships and on the one for the classic cars when replayed no standings where shown. Which is annoyingI have not attempted the F1 career or my team scenarios as of yet. Another glitch is that DRS is available when passing cars that are in the pitsThe racing graphics to me are very good. One good feature is that you can hide the halo bar. I honestly don’t know how the F1 drivers manage to drive so accurately with that obstruction. I find it necessary to also use the virtual mirror The car mirrors are not that goodRacing in the rain illustrates how bad the vision is for the real driversAll in all its a very good racing game. You can alter the settings to suit your abilities. Backmarkers move off the racing line when approaching them and when attempting to overtake the cars in front perform a single move to prevent you from doing so. Both being very good featuresTo play at the highest levels with all the aids turned off you really do need a good steering wheel and pedals. There are numerous adjuments that can be made whilst on the move. using the controller can be quite difficultHave not tried the online racing at the time of writing. Have tended to stay away from that as on another game there are many cheats and people who just want to cause accidents. For example on the Lemans circuit times have been posted one minute below the actual cars. That is impossible to achieve Perhaps I shall be pleasantly surprisedOverall very please with content. The purist will probably say its not a simulation but if you are looking to be entertained with the option of being able to make adjustments entertainment is what it provides

    Great Game. Disappointing Price Drop.

Loving the game so far. The game is a 5/5 but I’ve lowered it a star due to Amazon charging £55 for preorders then dropping the price by £10 the day after release.

Excellent game when using a wheel and pedals

Excellent game.Annoyed that Amazon discounted it by 18% for Prime members a few days after release. I preordered it at £55 and I’m a Prime member.

    So close to perfection

Would give this game a 5 star if Codemasters weren’t so lazy, Mercedes are the wrong colour, Ferrari are way to quick,Racing Point are way to slow.all that means no 5 star also it rains to much 5 out of 11 races so far I like watching wet races but racing in the wet on the game is just slow and boring the weather should be optional it’s a game after all,one final gripe at Amazon this time £55 pre-order then 48 hours after release they drop the price by £10 makes me feel ripped off never pre ordering from Amazon again.

    Second best F1 game ever…

So I’ve been watching F1 almost 40 years since 1981 (when it was actually really good compared to now…) and I have always had an F1 game on every console I’ve owned the most memorable for me being Super Monaco Grand Prix on the Sega Mega Drive I believe in 1989 and the absolutely brilliant Formula One Championship Edition on the Playstation 3 back in 2006, it’s been a 14 year wait and finally F1 2020 might just about scratch that itch I’ve had for ages now.To be honest I have tried almost all of Codemasters attempts at F1 since they started in 2010 but I’ve never really been happy with them for a few reasons the main one being that as I’m getting on a bit for a gamer now I just find them far too simulation based in style and frankly too bloody hard to play because I don’t have the reactions I had 20 years ago!But to their immense credit Codemasters have done something quite rare by actually listening to what gamers like myself have been asking for a long time and this years edition of the game finally includes a couple of great things that make it so much more accessible to a much wider range of players…. Casual Racing Mode which is far more forgiving than the standard sim style is a godsend for me with lots more automatic settings options and simple assists that help you get into just racing rather than worrying about a million settings for the car has at last delivered a simple and enjoyable almost arcade style F1 experience for people like me who just want a casual bit of F1 racing! Everything is still there and you can gradually turn off the assists or just switch over to standard mode whenever you like, it’s a really simple thing that the game needed and absolutely nothing is ruined for the expert players at all because they still have the game they want as well it’s now just so much more accessible to more people and that’s exactly how games should be. To top things off there is now also a 2 player split screen racing mode so at last I can race a pal at home on the big screen while having a beer, games always had this option when I was a lad and sadly in this online age it’s disappeared completely in recent years so it’s brilliant to see it brought back here…. Bravo indeed Codemasters!F1 2020 pretty much has everything a fan of the sport could want including of course the official F1 2020 season fully up to date, the F2 2019 season and to my absolute delight plenty of classic cars and a championship for them as well done in proper old school style racing on iconic circuits with all the correct rules of the time, fabulous stuff! Finally to go along with the standard 10 year career mode there is the much talked about My Team mode where you literally build a car and a whole organisation from the ground up becoming the 11th team on the grid, this in depth management style system coupled with the actual driving will be loved by many F1 fans for sure and again is very welcome edition indeed. From a graphics and audio point of view the game is mostly a very solid performer with just occasional screen tearing showing up and the odd bit of muffled sounding audio particularly from your race engineer plus some sporadic long loading times being the only notable problems I’ve come across, the game has crashed on me a couple of times also but patches seem to be coming thick and fast so I think these issues will be sorted pretty soon anyway. So, why only 4 stars after so many positive points??….. Dynamic Weather!!!!! This really does need correcting, in single races you can turn it off but as soon as your doing any championship or career mode it can’t be turned off and oh my god it just rains waaaay too much, I literally had torrential rain in 5 out of 12 race weekends in my first classic cars championship and it drove me insane!! Once or twice is fine but 5 times out of 12…??!! Come on guys sort this out it’s a potential game ruining issue, it might look great and provides an interesting challenge yes but not every other race for Christ’s sake!Apart from that one genuinely annoying problem I really do appreciate what Codemasters have done here and I would rate this as the second best F1 game I’ve ever played… Formula One Championship Edition 2006 still remains the best for me but only just now as F1 2020 is very very good indeed.4 Stars would be 5 if dynamic weather was sorted out properly.
