    Another Fire Emblem Game

It’s a fire emblem game. If you’ve played before then you already know what to expect, if not, just know it’s a strategy based game. Yeah. It’s fun.

This is my first Fire Emblem game to play and it’s perfect for new people wanting to get inti these games. Still currently in my first play through & it’s been great. All the characters have great personalities & great voice acting. So much stuff to do in this & I highly recommended.

Best Fire Emblem Game To Date

Unique game mechanics that make this game stand out from the rest of the franchise are the3 factions you can choose from (without purchasing multiple games), and the Persona*-esk gameplay mechanic where you switch between social life and combat.*Video game seriesThe game is fully voice acted. No character will just say a key word (s) having to read the rest. Each character will read you the full line of dialogue. Only exception are some NPCs that don’t have direct conversation with you. Able to choose between Japanese and English language.Character models are good, but the environments are bad for a Nintendo Switch game. Not the upgrade you’ll expect from a series moving from the 3DS to Nintendo Switch, but still the best looking game in the seriesYou start off by selecting your character male or female. You are not able to customize their appearance since they show up in animated cutscenes. After that you must select one of three houses: Blue Lions, Golden Deer or Black Eagles. Each with their own character units. You are introduced to all characters for each house before choosing.Story starts off by you teaching at the church while defending it from enemies. Their are sub plots, and time skips. Each house has thier own perspective on the overall story. You won’t get a full picture/backstory on everything unless you play all three houses story via New Game +. Black Eagles is the most drastic departure from the other twoThere are two phases in game (like the Persona games) :School phase and Combat phase. Those who just want a linear story with a lot of consistent battles may not like this game…but there’s an option to automate everythingSocial elements in the game helps flush out the story and characters more relatableNow let’s go more in depth into each of the phases–School phase:Similar to Persona with it’s slice of life simulatorYou play as a professor teaching students how to fight. You are able to recruit characters from other houses to your party, but you have to increase their social links/reputation points by interacting with them, giving them gifts and boosting up your own stats/weapons to match theirsLike attending a new school, can be a bit overwhelming at firstYou work on social links and training characters through tutoring (training) leading up to certification exams where they can change classes.Focusing on specific characters gives them potential for more points for to upgrade stats and increase support during lectureYou can have personal conversation with your students. You are limited to the amount of activities you can do a day. By doing more activities via explore monistary (vs doing side quest battles) you are able to increase your ‘professor level’ which grants you access to do more activities like gardening, fishing, cooking, dining with specific characters, interacting/having tea with specific students/faculty to increase your own stats and/or reputation with them, and entering weapon specific tournamentsDepending on your professor level, you are given points you can spend doing task. You are never given enough points to do everything at once so you choose between upgrading own skills/stats or one/some of your students. For example higher points gives you more opportunities to can be spend on training multiple students,or hangout with faulty to increase your own. The more points you have the more activities you can do on a certain daySupport conversation are more in depth than past entries with complex backstories. Your support conversations towards other characters are mostly done through the school phase. Characters support conversation with each other are like previous games where you have to be in close proximity during battle to increase reputationAble to romance a character once they reach S rank. Romancing/marrying a character doesn’t happen until the very end of the game after the final boss. The school phase system is on a calendar system with a major story based battle at end of month.-Sundays (free time day):Able to do certification exam for students if you wish them to change/upgrade classes. explore monistary, go on side quests, or seminar to improve students skills.Aside from doing certification exams, only can choose one of the others listed, each have their own advantages and disadvantages.Going on side quests increases character’s level. As characters level up they’ll increase random stats, and once reaching a certain level (5,10,20,30) able to take certification exam to advance their character classDoing seminars boost characters specific statsExplore monistary has higher chance of increasing social links with characters, increase professor level to do more activities, and boost character specific stats (not as much as seminars)-Mondays (instruction day):select a few students for private tutoring to increase stats, skills and support. To get the most out of this (especially in the beginning), it’s best to do the explore monistary option on Sundays. By interacting with students in explore monistary you’re able to increase their happiness level giving more opportunity to spend points on upgrading specific statsTues-sat. random events/cutscenesFun to see progression of students and yourself getting upgrades. There’s a lost items mini game where you have to return items lost from students/faculty to increase their happiness level so they can spend more points on stats during lecture. Each character loses at least 3 items over the course of the game. Have no idea why everyone is losing their stuff? Are everyone that clumsy and don’t keep track of their stuff. eh whateverThere’s also a amiibo gazibo area. Scanning amiibos will get you items bonus in the court yard. If you have fire emblem amiibo you’ll get better items. Every time you choose to do ‘explore monistary’, best to visit there are there are some free item drops== Combat phase:Like previous game in the franchise it’s a turned based grid battle systemBattalions take squads of units alongside charactersNo weapon triangle. Anyone can use any weapon. For example, a character may be per-disaposed to be better proficiency at bows, but can use swords, lances and axes. On caveat is that may or may not be as good as a bow when maxed out stats and when playing higher difficultyDifferent weapons have different ranges. able to switch weapons mid-battleBattles can take an hour each to completeAble to choose between casual or classic mode.In casual mode death are not permanentThere are combat arts: higher attack/crit chance, but decrease weapon durabilityMust repair weapons. Each weapon has set number of points/durability points. Best to keep an eye out before start of battleGambits: army following each character that can mass attack opponent. Able to hire them via in-game currency. There’s a rewind pause feature. Able to rewind time to redo moves. This option is not infinite.Magic. Unlike weapons with durability, you get a limited to set number per battle (able to replenish via one time use items) . The amount resets after each battle.Adjustants. Two units can team up, but one does all the work and the other gets exp share. It’s like how you carry/level people in MMOsClass abilities, and equip-able abilities (for leveling a weapon, reach a certain level). Each student/character have unique ability like hit/evasion +15 at full health, when take no action (wait) recovers 10% health, adjacent enemies has -10 evasion, +5 attack when no at full health, adjust allies recover 10% unit HP start of match, open lock doors without keys, etcprofessor, skill/abilities are locked via renown pointsyou get a set number of renown points to spend on depending on side quest you undertake–Best characters stat wise in my opinion after two playthrough are:Felix (Blue Lions): Strong Phyisical Offensive UnitHilda (Golden Deer): Strong Tank UnitLysithea (Golden Deer): Glass Cannon Magic/Range UnitMercedes (Blue Lions): Best HealerHonorable mentions arePetra (Black Eagles) and Leonie (Golden Deer) for high dex and speed. Able to double attack enemy units with low speed statNew game plus. You don’t get everything from previous playthough, only items you purchase from shops and saint bonuses. Best strategy before starting new game plus is buy all the battalions then sell them when you start New game +Online:No online battles, but there are ghost data. each tile will tell you what other players did that turn either defeat and enemy or unit fell in battle. There are also random drops in the explore monistary segment of the game. Need Nintendo Online subscription to access online featuresOverall, very addicting/fun game. A lot of options and constant progression in battles and support conversation. One of the best games on Nintendo Switch, and a good contender for Game of The Year (2019)

Great game! One star off for slight box damage

The game itself is amazing as is the limited edition. However, mine came with the box slightly damaged. Everything else is beautiful. The Steelbook case, calendar, artbook, and CD are great. I especially appreciate having a physical CD versus just a download. It’s a shame that the box is so bland, but it’s alright.

    Wrong Item and Damaged

The item delivered had extensive damage to the case and wasn’t the item pictured or described in the listing. Even gamestop’s will atleast replace the case so the item is secured in shipping. If you are selling a PAL region game list that in the description or atleas show that in the picture.

    Great Game!!

Unfortunately, it took me two months to get through the three routes. I thought I would’ve had more time. That aside, the game is pretty solid. In a sense, it is the best FE game to date, but also the easiest. A new mechanic was introduced to the game, one that basically prevents you from losing the battle even on the hardest difficulty setting. The worst thing is, you can’t even turn it off. That’s the major flaw with this game. Aside from that, the story is pretty compelling. Each route is quite different from the other. I wouldn’t be surprised if you dropped 200+ hours on this game.
