I really wanted to like this headset!

First off i’d like to say that this headset has really good sound quality and i really like the mic with the blue technology. The comfort is really good for me but every head is different and they might not be comfortable to you. Now onto the main issue i’ve had with this headset is the usb plug with the aux jack. I constantly have to move the aux jack around or unplug it and plug it back in. The issue is that the mic will all of the sudden just stop working. I’ll have to completely restart my pc to get it to work again. Also i just want to say that the surround sound is not what i was expecting at all. I’ve tried it in a few different games and the directional sound is almost non existent. This headset has alot of potential for the gaming community but in my opinion it seems like it was rushed before properly being tested. Last thing is would someone please tell Logitech that a 4 foot cable is nowhere near enough to be comfortable while playing or even watching videos.

If you like good positional audio, quickly run in the opposite direction. Otherwise, rather nice.

My 2-star rating is based on my own personal preferences in a gaming headset. YMMV.I have a pair of G633s I’ve been happy with for quite a while. The Dolby 7.1 feature is pretty much always-on when I play games. DTS is also an option, but it’s total garbage in comparison, so I never used it. With the former option, audio sources are easily identifiable, and there is an extremely minimal sacrifice in raw sound quality when active. I’d even happily listen to music with it on. The only issues I have with them is that they feel somewhat cheap, make loud creaky plastic noises in my ears when I move my head, and are prone to slipping if I so much as sneeze wrong. The headband is also stupid-narrow, and WILL make a weird-looking dent in your hair after hours of use, which is strong enough to stick around despite all brushing or combing attempts. Now, to the G Pro X. I was hoping that this would be the perfect marriage of the 633’s excellent 7.1 surround quality, and the comfort and build quality of other high-end headsets I have tried.I am very disappointed.I’m extra-disappointed, in fact, because I love everything about this headset EXCEPT its positional audio features. It’s very comfortable, comes with both pleather and fabric ear cup sets to suit your preference, and will not fall off your head if you look up at your ceiling. Mic quality is excellent and the mixing options available are frankly overkill, but in a good way. Sound quality is crisp, and minute details in music are easy to pick out. Highs are nice, mids are nice, bass is nice, it’s all just nice. Here’s where it all falls apart for me.The G Pro X headset does not feature the choice between Dolby and DTS 7.1 systems. Dolby has been dropped entirely in favor of DTS. Now, you might remember me saying how DTS is a pile of hot garbage. I had hoped they’d made improvements to it when I ordered this headset. Alas, it continues to be garbage. Uncomfortably warm, worryingly moist, pungent (with a smell you can’t really place) garbage. Sound quality takes a dramatic turn for the worse, cutting out almost all high frequencies and flattening the experience so it sounds like you’re listening to the world through two Pringles cans taped over your ears, without the bottoms removed. Sure, sound direction is easily identifiable, but the price for that is far too steep. It’s like cutting out your tongue to cure your sleep apnea. With a box cutter.”The wrong kid died.” – Me, to DTS Heaphone-XAt the point I discovered the above, I was engrossed enough with the other aspects of this headset’s design that I attempted to band-aid the problem with the EQ settings. I thought, I should still be able to bring back the highs to compensate for DTS’s absolute trash fire of an implementation, right? No dice. It sounded better, but it merely poked a small hole in the ends of the aforementioned metaphorical Pringles cans. Oh, and it only has five EQ sliders.Seriously though, put two Pringles cans over your ears and go listen to traffic. You’ll understand.I can’t stress enough how bad DTS surround is on this headset.Somewhat desperate to justify the cash I spent on this thing, I tried to get around it a second time by turning off surround altogether in G Hub (LGS’s buggy, clunky successor – LGS would not detect these at all), and trying to install Dolby Atmos for Headphones. With Atmos installed, I went to activate it through Windows, the way you do. Unfortunately, it just couldn’t be that easy. Any spatial sound options fail entirely, with the message “Something went wrong while trying to activate spatial audio”. My assumption is that this is what happens when you attempt to enable Windows’s spatial audio settings on a headset that Windows identifies as having 7.1 channels, which is a damn shame. If Windows can’t identify 7.1 channels on a device, no game you play will actually deliver those 7.1 channels for mixing by any Virtual Surround software. This results in the kind of lackluster experience people usually point to for evidence when they say “Virtual surround is a scam”. I empathize with those people, because for most implementations, they might as well be right. So, it’s a sad day.In my opinion, complete removal of the Dolby 7.1 option, lack of improvements made to DTS 7.1 to compensate, and unavailability of any feasible workarounds, all conspire to cripple this headset for my own gaming purposes. No combination of build, audio, or mic quality can salvage this headset if you find yourself unable to go back to stereo from 7.1.It really sucks that I have to negatively review this based on one deal-breaking feature. If you want clear, crisp positional audio without too many corners cut to do it, buy a pair of G633s or G933s instead. Enable the Dolby 7.1 option, set EQ to your preference, and stay as far away from the G Hub software as you can.

    Overall good – inexcusable hiss.

[UPDATE 2] 9/14/20 – Returned these headphones. Their customer support response was awful, plus the dongle issue… Maybe it was just early-production-run-gremlins, but I wasn’t prepared to deal with it. Sticking with my Astro A50s and spent the $$$ investing in additional base stations. Switching them between computers/console is painless (dock for 5 seconds until the lights stop flashing), sound quality is as good/better than the Logitechs, there’s no hiss, and connectivity has been rock solid.[UPDATE 1] 8/24/20 – Experiencing a new issue now where powering the headphones on shows that they’re connected, has them appear as an audio device in Windows, but… no ability to play audio. Spotify just skips through tracks endlessly, no system sounds come out, etc. Volume wheel on the headset works fine to show that volume is increasing/decreasing. Reboot of computer did not resolve – but unplugging/plugging the dongle in again worked fine to get it going. More troubleshooting required – but again, this is more work than I like to put in for a brand new ‘premium’ headset. This is one of two ‘LIGHTSPEED’ devices I have (PRO wireless mouse) connected to my computer, and the mouse has been 110% the best mouse I’ve ever had.The Good:Packaging is really nice. No tape, glue, etc. and everything was easy to get out.Build quality feels great.Mic is decent. Much better than youtuber reviews led me to believe.Sound quality is solid. I’ve had a lot of wireless headsets from the Arctis series & Astro series, and this one is only really topped/comparable to the A50s?Software is great. Paired immediately when I plugged in the dongle, showed up in G Hub instantly, settings could be changed in real time with a looped audio recording of my voice. The OKWhile comfortable, there’s a bit more pressure than I like on the sides of my head, and it’s not even (feels like headphones tilt slightly outward). I’ve got an enormous noggin though – but this is also unusual by comparison to the other wireless headsets I’ve had.The Ugly:There’s a hiss – and a quick google search from today turned up others getting their headsets with the same issue already. This hiss is audible over soft music at comfortable listening volumes. This hiss is present with or without the mic connected, with or without the dongle plugged in, and with sidetone at max or off entirely. It’s something in the headset itself generating this. Of the dozen or so wireless headsets I’ve had/used over the years, this is the only one to do it, so I don’t accept “It’s wireless, there’s interference.” This isn’t interference – this is something else entirely. If this were a $30 headset, I’d shrug and deal with it.Submitted a case for the hiss. We’ll see what they have to say.At $200, it’ll be going back if not acknowledged by Logitech and fixed – which is why this is getting 2 stars instead of 5. It’d be 5 stars without the hiss.

Primarily used HyperX, now I use the G Pro X.

This headset is great. I have Astro A50s, HyperX Alphas, and the HyperX Cloud ll. Does this headset blow all these other headsets out? No. I do believe for the price point, they are a good contender. One thing without a doubt, the Blue Vo!ce microphone on this headset is far superior than any other headset/microphone combo. Microphone quality is great, presets modes sound great with a lot of customization to what YOU prefer. First compliment when I joined my friends with this microphone, “You sound so professional”.Sound Quality IMO sounds great. I do believe these are on par with the HyperX sound quality. I did notice however the 7.1 surround feature is not my preference. I currently use the 5.1 and have adjusted my equalizer to my liking. You want more bass? Bump the bass up. Treble? Bump it up. So much customization is what sets this apart from other headphones. Yes, you can buy or use aftermarket equalizer software to adjust other headphones. I’m not audio fanatic, but I do like quality and I feel Logitech has delivered with this headset. I also do like with the original ear pads, there is excellent noise cancellation which gives a better-quality sound and keeps the bass locked into the ear cuffs. I have had no issues with positional gaming with the headphones. For me, the Logitech G Hub works perfect as I have a Logitech keyboard and mouse. I did have issues with G Hub at first, but that was user error. Once I took time to learn G Hub and mess around with the settings, I have had no issues. Take time to learn the software and you will be able to get these headphones to the microphone sounds and audio sounds you prefer.I have had 5-6 hour gaming sessions and have had zero comfort issues. Build quality feels great, similar build quality as HyperX. Design and looks, IMO look better than the HyperX headphones.Overall, if you want to go for something cheaper, than HyperX is still a good choice without a doubt. If you want good microphone quality and the ability to really customize a headset to your audio liking on the fly? Then this headset it for you. To me, it was worth spending the extra money for the microphone quality alone. I am no streamer, but communication is key to playing well in a game. If you have a crap microphone and no one can understand you, then what good are you?I will continue to use the Logitech G Pro X 7.1 Surround as my primary headset as I believe overall is a better preforming product.Don’t let other reviews discourage you about G Hub. Learn the software. With all the software you use to update drivers, graphics cards, Stream Decks, RGB Lighting and so on… Logitech software works great. You won’t be disappointed.

the wireless is a huge improvement over the wired version.

the wireless is a huge improvement over the wired version. The freedom it gives you is amazing and the battery life is quite long. The range is also fairly good provided that the usb receiver is either within line of sight or is not otherwise impeded by other wireless transmitters or too close to a wall(s).I had to move my usb receiver to a port on my keyboard to get a good signal. It did not work well under my desk and plugged into the back of the computer case. Eventually, I needed the port on my keyboard so I moved the usb receiver to the back of my monitor (which has a USB hub) and it works fine.

Almost perfect, but they’re too heavy.

To preface this review, I should mention that I’m using these headphones specifically for music and work calls. I’m not using them for gaming. I’ve been on a quest to find the absolute best headphones for my specific tastes, and after trying and returning several other headphones, these are the ones I’m sticking with. Other headphones I’ve tried include: Hyperx Cloud Wireless, Steelseries Arctis 7, Sony WH-1000XM3, Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT, a high end Plantronics office headset, and a high end Jabra office headset. These headphones are easily the best ones I’ve tried in terms of music quality and usability for work.Sound quality: absolutely fantastic. The lows, mids, and highs all sound great, and you can clearly hear separation between instruments. These headphones are among the best I’ve heard, as far as music listening goes. I was surprised to find that they’re better than the Sony headphones, considering that the Sony headphones are supposed to be the most high end Bluetooth headphones on the market. Maybe it’s because Bluetooth is inherently worse quality than the wireless technology these headphones use? Either way, these headphones sound excellent.Microphone/usability for calls: excellent. The microphone sounds good, and this headset has all the features you would want. I especially like that it comes with velour pads in the box. Velour pads are far superior to leather pads as far as calls go, because they allow you to more clearly hear your own voice, as well as hear people nearby, which is important for office use. This headset also has adjustable side-tone, which is very important for hearing your own voice. Also, critically, the Logitech G HUB software allows you to disable the functionality that makes the headset power off when not in use. (This is the main reason I didn’t stick with the HyperX headphones, because they didn’t have the ability to turn this off.)Connection quality: excellent. This is one of the main reasons why I prefer a gaming headset for work instead of regular Bluetooth headphones. Bluetooth is sensitive to interference and can often cause slight hiccups in connection when listening to music. These headphones don’t have this issue. I can walk all over my house with these headphones and the connection strength is always perfect.Comfort: decent, but not great. This is the only flaw with these headphones. The issue is that they’re a little heavy. They’re not insanely heavy or anything, but you can definitely tell that they’re heavier than your average gaming headset. (Logitech, if you’re reading this, please make the next version of this headset less heavy! I like that the headset feels premium and all, but I wish that the hard part of the headband was made of plastic instead of metal.)Additional features: lacking. This isn’t a big deal for my use case, but these headphones do lack some features that other cheaper headphones have. Specifically, there is no game/chat balance dial, and there are no connection options other than the USB dongle. This means you’ll never be able to use this device with anything other than your PC.Overall I highly recommend these headphones. Yes they’re expensive, but the sound quality makes them worth it.UPDATE: Unfortunately I decided to return this headset after the weight proved to be too much. After using it for three days I was not able to get used to how heavy it is. I could feel the strain on my neck. This is very disappointing because these headphones are otherwise perfect. I just wish they were lighter.

    My favorite headset to date

I’ve been a hyperx user the last 3 years. I’ve owned the Cloud, and the Revolver S. I purchased these Logiteches as soon as they were announced, due to my great experience with other Logitech peripherals. These do not dissapoint! They are extremely comfortable, and sit great on my head. I have a large head (size 8 hat size), and this is the first headset I have owned that I didn’t have to completely max out. The ear muffs are large, and cover my ear with a comfortable clamping force that isn’t too light, or too heavy. The mic sounds absolutely incredible with the Blue software in Ghub.I do think the sound in the speakers was better in my HyperX Revolver, but it’s minimal difference, and might be something I can fix with EQ.I highly reccomend these!

Great Headset! Make sure you download Logitech G Hub!!

I took a gamble on this headset since it has many negative reviews for some reason. I’ve been using this headset for a month now and it is wonderful. The USB soundcard works good. Inline controls and mic mute switch are good. I have not had any issues with the braided cable rubbing against my shirt and producing sound. The mic quality is excellent. Directional audio is good. The headset for long sessions is very comfy! I wear glasses and it is comfortable. The build quality is solid. But here is the catch: download the Logitech G Hub program to get full control of Microphone EQ’s, sound EQ’s AND to enable surround sound. I feel like most of the people who bought this headset did not download the program. That is more than likely the reason for the negative reviews. Everyone has different sound preferences, some like bass, some like clarity. The EQ’s give you full control. For PC gamers, this is a great headset. I can’t speak for console gamers but this headset is aimed heavily at PC users.Don’t let some of these reviews discourage you.

    Stay Away

This headset is probably one of the worst products from Logitech I’ve ever purchased. My microphone kept making a creaking noise whenever I spoke. I had to record my own voice to believe it when people were telling me about it. The DTS 7.1 surround is terrible as well. I couldn’t tell what direction footsteps and sounds were coming from reliably. I played with all of the settings for hours in the Logitech software with no luck. This is being advertised by e-sport players who I doubt would ever use this headset in a tournament due to the awful quality. Better off with something else.
