Great headset if the mic actually worked, known issue

So i was excited to get this headset, loved all the features and it’s functionality.- It sounded great on various games, especially Warzone, which is the main game I needed it for.-It’s quite the comfy headset as well, sits on the head firmly. -The build quality has a very premium feel, weighs as if it’s made of higher end materials.-Pretty hefty bass, sound is very detailed and accurate. Now the BAD (dealbreaker for just about anyone)-The mic is MUFFLED. If you take the time to look accross YouTube videos, reviews on Amazon as well as other websites, most of them have the same issue. The microphone sounds muffled, to the point your teammates can’t hear you sometimes especially during intense engagements. As one of my friend put it “you sound like you’re talking through a cup with a sock in your mouth”.-Did all the research I could, so many forums with all the same issue. There’s an update for the Snoop Dog edition, since that variant of this headset dale out earlier, but this headset comes shipped with it preinstalled, so no point in trying to update.-No amount of mic monitoring adjustments helped with the issue.-From many others resolutions with this issue, it doesn’t seem like one exists, most got replacement mics that still didn’t work, or bad customer service. I’d like to save myself time with dealing with that route and just return it for one I know will work.Do yourself a favor and pass on this one, it’s probably the perfect headset if it worked fully, but otherwise, if you’re gonna spend $250, spend it on one you know will work and don’t have to gamble on. Part of purchasing these high end items is their reliability and dependability. Sadly, this one came short, maybe one day they can maybe update the headset or figure something out.

Lots of volume in all of the wrong places

I purchased the LucidSound LS50X and the SteelSeries Arctis 9X headphones at the same time and spent an hour with both connected to the same Xbox One X, doing an a/b/c comparison with these and the Turtle Beach Elite 800x I am replacing. I am returning the LS50X, and I will tell you why.Let’s start with what these headphones are supposed to do.Connectivity:The LS50X connects to the Xbox One X via a usb dongle. You plug it in and within 10 seconds you have sound.10/10The Arctis 9x connects to the Xbox One X via proprietary signal, just as the wireless controller does. Press the pairing button on the Xbox One X, hold power button on the headphones, and within 10 seconds you have sound.10/10Sound QualityThe LS50x has neutral lows, neutral mids and very recessed highs. The highs are rolled off harshly. This makes reloading, shooting, footsteps, etc sound dull in comparison to the Arctis 9x and the Turtle Beach Elite 800x. The directional aspect is really good. I can hear exactly where the gunshots in MW are coming from. The most disappointing part of these is the sound separation and overall presentation of sound, which is a dealbreaker for me. There is a lot of sound being presented to you. But it is all jumbled together. Some of you cannot tell the difference. I am a music engineer, so it is exceptionally noticeable for me. This lack of effort in presentation on LucidSound’s part for a $250 flagship product is unacceptable. In addition, the background music is just “in your face” at all times, on all EQ settings. The background music drowns out everything else, and its just a complete mess of a presentation. Doesn’t sound like a big deal… until you use the Arctis 9x.6/10The Arctis 9x simply does everything right. The background music is crisp and clear. The general noise floor is nice and quiet. Background music is super clear and crisp, but in the background where it needs to be. I don’t need to hear the soundtrack Activision chose for in game play. I need to hear nearby footsteps and guns cocking. Those sounds are so crisp and up front that it makes you feel like you have superhuman hearing. This helped me maintain focus to a level that i have never been able to with any other surround headphone. Every sound sounds like it has its own place in the mix. They are easily identifiable, whereas it is all jumbled together on the LS50x. The one gripe i have is they are lacking a little in the bass department. But for effectiveness of identifying the exact location of nearby enemies, they are the very best surround sound gaming headphones i have used in my life, beating out the Elite 800x by a decent margin, and winning by a landslide over the LS50x.9.5/10Chat QualityI had two friends join my party to test out the chat quality. How my friends sound to meIn both headphones my friends sounded clear enough to understand as intended during gameplay. Their voices were noticeably more crisp and clear sounding on the Arctis 9x. Like all other sounds with this headphone, their voices sounded separated from the gameplay, not bunched together. Unfortunately my friends voices sounded jumbled in with the in game audio on the LS50x. It is not horrible. But it is not even ideal. The Arctis 9x chat is better than ideal, it is refreshing.Similarly, not to my surprise, my friends said i sounded much more clear on the Arctis 9x than i did on the LS50x. They stated that I sounded slightly muffled on the LS50x in comparison.LS50x: 7/10Arctis9x: 10/10Bluetooth FunctionalityBoth headsets connected to my iPhone 11 with no issue. For music, the LS50x has more midbass than the Arctis 9x and less energy in the high end. The LS50x offered almost zero sound separation. If you like a really warm signature for music, you may prefer the LS50x. If you enjoy classical music and appreciate hearing the actual depth of all of the instruments, the LS50x will be a nightmare. The Arctis 9x offers amazing instrument separation, close to what an open back set of studio headphones would. I was impressed by this. But the midrange is lacking, as these are EQd to do what the LS50x couldn’t dream of… creating a gaming space where you can hear all of the right things in game to make your experience advantageous to you.SummaryI would not purchase the LS50x if they were priced at $100, based on their sonic presentation, though I believe that is a fair price point with all other things concerned. The asking price of $250 is a complete sham. No disrespect to the creators of this headset. I would purchase two sets of the Arctis 9x, and i may do so as my son and i both need a pair. I love them. They do everything right and most importantly, they do exactly what they should be designed to do.Final scoreLucidSound LS50x: 6.5/10SteelSeries Arctis 9x: 9.5/10

Best wireless gaming headset hands down

Fyi, I returned my Arctis Pro Wireless set after being so satisfied with these. Not only was the Arctis Pro support on xbox limited, they were basically inferior in almost every way despite costing $100 more. These are very solid headphones. The sound quality is great. For gaming, its solid, but what surprised me is how good these are for music as well. They connect seamlessly with the xbox, and I haven’t had any connection issues thus far.The audio quality over bluetooth is indistinguishable from the quality over the xbox connection. As opposed to the Arctis, whose bluetooth audio sounded significantly worse than its other audio connections. The build quality is wonderful, except that the right dial on mine was a little bit less smooth than the left one, and it seems unintentional.Comfort-wise, they are definitely too tight at first, but after breaking mine in by hand (not literally breaking them, but sort of stretching them out since they are quite flexible) they are maybe only 5% too tight. They are a bit too heavy, though. The built-in cooling gel feels really nice at first, but the feeling wears off after you’ve had them on for a while. Then they make your ears hot compared to the Arctis, which are lighter and cooler all around. But that is really one of few categories in which the Arctis wins, in my opinion. Putting these headphones on and feeling the cooling of the gel every time is so nice. The EQ’s are solid, but not quite what I’d ideally like them to be. That’s the second place where the Arctis wins, since fully customizable EQ is a very nice feature that these are missing.Ultimately, for $100 less than the Arctis Pro Wireless, these are wayyyy better. They are superior in every way except for being a bit less comfortable and lacking customizable EQ. Yeah the Arctis Pro Wireless has a second swapable battery, but the battery life on these is at least 50% longer than a charge of the Arctis from my experience. I literally haven’t had these die on me, after weeks of owning them.Based on my experience with Arctis, I’m confident that these are better than the more comparable Arctis 9’s. Arctis’ tend to be buggy from my experience, and their audio is worse even with significant EQ adjustment. These are just a great value with the best quality you can expect from a gaming headset, which are know to cut corners and tack on a premium. These, the Lucidsound Ls50x, are definitely the way to go if you are an xbox player going wireless.

These boiz are straight up fire.

I don’t typically write reviews but dang.. putting these bad boiz on are like stepping off of the landing craft on the beaches of Normandy. The directional hearing is superb. I can hear all of you suckers trying to sneak up on me while I’m blasting my GRAU at your teammates. If I listen close enough I can literally hear your bones shuttering from across the map while you’re camping in the corner. This headset truly changed my game. I am actually a better player now and I feel like Pablo because these bad larrys are rich! I’m sorry to the other guy that got below me that got the bum set. You’re missing out.

Awesome headset and well worth the price

I bought this headset to replace an older and fragile Turtle Beach headset. These Lucid Sound ones are excellent. The setup was very easy and painless. I even paired them with my laptop and iPhone with ease. The mic monitoring function is great so you can hear yourself in the headset. The mute function is also good and there is a light on the mic which turns red when you’re muted. Did I mention that the mic is removable as well? The headset has three equalizer functions and the bass boost actually sounds good. I have worn them for both gaming and Zoom conferences and had no issues with ear aches or discomfort after 4-6 hours. This headset also comes with a 3.5mm jack so you can plug it directly into a computer/laptop or other device without having to use the batteries. I highly recommend this headset and would buy again. No, they aren’t cheap, but you get what you pay for and these are well worth the price.

great overall for my Xbox Series X and Xbox One X! mediocre mic

If the microphone was good, I would have given this 5 stars. But it’s not good. I asked my friends their thoughts and none of them like it. They thought it sounded muffled. For comparison, I’ve used the free headset that comes with my older Xbox One consoles as well as Turtle Beach headsets. The design does look very premium, made of high quality materials. It’s pretty comfortable even for a big head like mine. The sound is excellent. I use Dolby Atmos for Headphones and the positional audio is great. I love that it’s wireless. There is a little USB dongle but it’s unobtrusive.I also like it has a mic mute button instead of moving the boom mic. It’s why I didn’t like the Astros. Sometimes when you’re playing, you want those brief moments of muting your mic. On the Astros, you have to lift up your entire boom mic to mute. And then you have to lower it to talk again and that’s not good in the middle of a gun fight. It also has a little light at the end of the boom to tell you if you’re muted. There is a little nitpick. The big round dial on the right ear determines the game audio/chat audio balance. You rotate it toward the front to hear less chat and more game. You rotate it toward the rear to hear more chat and less game. Well, this control is not very good. You keep turning and turning and the game audio is much higher than the chat. And then you turn to a point where it suddenly causes the game audio to be very quiet and you hear mostly chat. So it’s very difficult the fine-tune the game/chat audio. I still might return it because of this but I think I have the right balance now.And the last thing is how scary the firmware update process is. First, Windows thinks the software is malicious. Second, the whole process is scary. You load the software, you insert a needle into a pinhole on the dongle and while holding the needle in the hole, you’re supposed to insert the dongle into the USB port. it’s hard to tell when you can let go of the needle or if hold the whole time or if it even matters.I almost got the SteelSeries Arctis 9x but I held off because people said it becomes uncomfortable for people with large heads. I got to try them out at Best Buy and they seemed comfortable but I only wore it for a minute or so. But comparing build quality, the Arctis 9x seemed cheaper (and that also has a bad mic according to other reviewers). I also liked how the Arctis 9x had a retractable mic as well as no dongle needed.

A really good headset with great sound and build quality

I was looking at a ton of Xbox gaming headsets before I decided to give this one a shot. I decided to go with with one because it doesn’t look like a gaming headset and can be used as just a regular headset for music and talk. The build quality is amazing on this. It feels extremely sturdy. The only thing I’m somewhat concerned about for the future is that the ear cups rotate so it could lay flat on you collarbone if you take them off for a few. I feel like the area where it rotates could eventually get weaker and causes minor issues in the future. I’ll update this review if that does happen. Sound quality is great. I had a much cheaper pair of Plantronics prior to these which were pretty good too, or so I thought. After using these in Warzone I was able to notice a lot more sounds using these over my old headset. The mic is great and according to the people I play with sounds good too. I like that the boom mic has a red light on it to let you know that it is on mute. Comfort could be better. I do have a feeling that once these break in a little bit that it will be better. Since it is a metal headband with a cushion there really isn’t a ton of flex out of the box. It has cooling gel but I think that is more of a gimmick. These ear cups get warm. Very warm after a full match of Warzone. Where the cooling gel seems to help is when you take them off they do cool down pretty quick. The controls are great!!!! So easy to use. Love the hug volume knobs. Just great. Now I didn’t look to hard at this because I do keep mine hooked up to my phone but when I first fired these things up it kept telling me it was in Bluetooth pairing mode. So it seemed to me that if you don’t connect it to a Bluetooth device you’ll hear that every time you turn them on which is kind of annoying. Connection, for the most part it is solid. I have had a minimal amount of games where the sound has cut out completely. Not entirely sure what caused it but it wasn’t user error. Most of the time the connection is completely solid and I’ve walked rooms away while in a pregame lobby and it stays connected as I’m talking to my team. Overall this is a good headset. This is my first dive into a more expensive gaming headset so I only have a pair of Plantronics RIG 500HX to compare them to. So to say it is worth the price that is hard for me to tell. Being fully wireless is great and these offer a lot of features. I’m happy with my buy and feel I will eventually get my money’s worth out of these. So in the end I hope these review helps you decide if these are the right ones for you or not.
