I was not paid, nor endorsed by the seller for this review, just wanted to get that out of the way:I’m typing this review on this keyboard. This keyboard is fantastic and I couldn’t believe I was able to get keyboards like this for this price.I got the Outemu Brown switch version of this keyboard, and they feel fantastic. This keyboard feels as good, if not exceed, the quality of some of the other mechanical gaming keyboard from the other big guys like Razer and Logitech.This is my second China-keyboard from Amazon. Both are fantastic. I just bought these because the one I was using previously had Outemu Blue switches and they were driving my family nuts when I would clack away at night, so I switched to Outemu Brown keyboard instead.I could have just bought the Outemu Brown switches and replaced my previous deck, but this Sunsonny keyboard that came with Outemu Brown switches were far cheaper and I would still have a fully working Outemu Blue keyboard intact and be useful.This keyboard came with a key puller and a switch puller and couple of spare switches in case you need to replace them.I pulled all the keycaps off and added silicone (don’t use rubber, get silicone) o-rings which made the keyboards have less “twang” and echo, so now, I get to enjoy the mechanical feel of Outemu Brown switches but without the annoying twang that may garner more complaints from the fam.Awesome value, and I would recommend this deck to anyone who wants a mechanical keyboard but also do not wish to spend more than $50 for a keyboard in general.

I’ve been using mechanical keyboards since the 80s starting with the IBM Model M, and I’ve continued to use almost every switch under the sun since, Cherry MX red/brown/blue/green/clear/white, Romer G, Omron, Kailh, Razr, and this one is by far one of my favorites. Most keyboards I bought had a ping when you typed, especially the $100 expensive ones. I bought this as a gag gift expecting it to suck because of the price and make my deskmate cringe when using it, and we ended up actually using it unironically, so much so replacing my Cherry MX Brown keyboard with it because it’s so solid and satisfying to type on. I’d never expect a $30 mechanical keyboard to perform so well! I bought 3 more just to keep as spares if this breaks. The letterings and stupid LEDs make it look very unprofessional, but you can turn off the LEDs and ignore the stupid kiddy gamer font they use for the keycaps. You could even replace them with Cherry MX keycaps from WASD, since the switch is clearly some kind of Cherry MX knock-off.

I came from another generic branded mechanical keyboard with Blue switches but had to upgrade to one with the numbers on the right. I liked the previous keyboard with the exception that the keys were too loud. This one is a LOT quieter and almost on par with a non-mechanical keyboard. It has a very nice look to it, really nice custom lighting options, and the keys at least to me feel perfect. Just the right amount of force needed to press and they are quiet. I would even go so far as to say if you’re in the market for a much more expensive mechanical keyboard give this one a try first, I genuinely don’t know how much better of a typing experience you could get by spending double or triple what this one runs.Oh and btw, I bought this keyboard using my own money. No one gave me one to review or any of that BS.

This is for the brown switch keyboard with a ‘sunsonny’ logo on it. I cycle through keyboards regularly and have tried all of the different cherry mx switches. This is comparable to my Das keyboard with brown switches and for less than a third of the price. I am very pleased with this keyboard. The lighting effects wasn’t a selling point for me but it is a nice bonus. Buy this solely if you want brown switches without paying name brand prices for Das/Razer/Code Keyboard/etc. The exposed keycaps is also a nice touch since companies like steelseries are selling them at a premium cost as well. This is a very satisfying keyboard to type and game on. Price paid was ~$38.To give context on the different switch colors:Red/Black – smooth press all the way down, black requires more pressure than red to press. The problem with red switches is that often times if you are resting your hand on your keyboard you might accidentally click a key because the amount of pressure required to press the key is so low. Blacks require medium pressure and do not have the same problem as reds.Brown/Clear – Browns and clears both have a noticeable tactile actuation point (not clicky, but physically noticeable). You can type without bottoming out because you can physically feel when the press occurs. Browns require medium pressure and is great for typing and gaming. Clears are more rare to find but they require high amounts of pressure, almost a finger workout if you aren’t used to it.Blue/Green – These are the clicky ones, similar to the browns/clears where you can feel mid-way through your press that the key has activated, but also makes a click noise. These are great if you don’t need to worry about bothering a roommate/co-worker, very satisfying to click on. The green version is a higher resistance switch just like the clear is a higher resistance version of the brown, and the black is a high resistance version of the red.

For gaming, I strictly use Cherry MX Red Switches because of the performance. I decided I wanted to pick up a cheap mechanical keyboard for my work office so I had something satisfying to type on when writing reports. I wanted to find a deal on something with Cherry MX Brown (or equivalent). Brown or equivalent switches have the satisfying bump and tactile response as the Blues but not as loud.My keyboard arrived with a few keycaps bumped off, not a big deal. One of the switches had also come out and had bent pins. I contacted Amazon and they gave me a partial refund. Since I was able to bend the pins back I kept the keyboard.You get some extra switches and a keycap remover in the box. The labeling on the keycaps is very “gamer-esque”, almost too much but it’s OK.This keyboard is not RGB, the color is fixed on each row and you can change the lighting effects with keyboard shortcuts. None of this mattered to me, I just wanted the responsiveness and feel of the brown knockoffs.Compared to authentic Cherry MX Brown switches & keyboards, this device is much louder. It’s not horribly loud and now that I have a large mouse mat the sound doesn’t annoy my coworkers.In hindsight, I wish I had gone with a more reputable brand with authentic MX Brown Switches.Still, for the price (<$40) this is a great budget buy, all of the functions work, and it is VERY satisfying to type on.
