    Solid way to play Tetris!

Love this thing. It’s solid in construction, and feels good in your hand. The screen is backlit so you can play in the dark. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the buttons. They are responsive, but they make an audible clicking sound. I would have preferred if the buttons had a softer click, but it my no means keeps me from playing it all the time.

Good, but could be way better

The bad:* The screen resolution is way too low and looks blurry, and the game-play gets a bit choppy.* The screen does not look anywhere near as good as the product images online make it seem, which is misleading.* I won’t discount it for having very basic sound since that’s pretty much in-line with the Arduboy on which this is based and wasn’t expecting anything (it does not sound anything like the arcade version).* It does NOT save your high score after powering the unit off.* There is no way to pause the game, and no suspend.* The ghost behavior is definitely NOT the same as the real arcade game. The good:* The lithium battery allows this thing to run basically forever. I have no idea how long you could play this game before it would die. It also charges quickly.* It has a real cool factor for being so tiny that hasn’t worn off on me just yet.* I am enjoying the game in little stints here and there, and take pictures of the screen with my phone to save my score. It’s more fun than I initially thought it would be.* The size of the unit makes it truly portable — small enough to throw in your bag and forget it’s there. You’ll have something to play with after your phone dies and you’ve exhausted all other avenues of distraction. It will be perfect for when you’re stuck in a waiting room or lost in the woods.Other thoughts:I bet the versions with Centipede/Pong/Space Invaders will make better use of the tiny screen. At least I hope so. According to the pamphlet that comes with this device, there is even a Ms. Pac-Man in the pipeline for this series of handhelds. I REALLY REALLY hope a little more horsepower and a better screen goes into that device. This is, IMO, worth $20, hence 3 stars. The thing is, if this thing was vertically oriented, had passable sound, a flat sliding joystick like a 3DS, and a nice big OLED screen running the actual arcade ROM of Pac-Man, I would pay a lot more. This could be the blueprint for the perfect portable Pac-Man device.

It’s just “ok”….will be returning it though

I’m a fan of tetris. This is a good idea but I just don’t find that I like it.The buttons are clicky but a bit loud. Love the color screen. Battery life is decent. But it DOESN’T save the high scores when you turn it off. So it’s pointless trying to 1up your scores.Returning the product until they fix that problem.

    Great gift

I bought it as a gift for my girlfriend and she loves it! There a few reasons I didn’t give it a full 5 stars and they are: the high scores don’t save once you turn it off, there is no hold button, and there are no shadows so you can’t see where the pieces will fall. Overall it’s a good game and she loves playing it to practice.

Kill time in the supermarket line without wifi

This is such a neat little contraption. TLDR short review- 4 out of 5 stars very much reccomended. An awesome little product and only negatives are sound effects/volume and a screen that is prone to scratches. Read on for a full review.I’m nowhere near a Space Invaders master, but I’d have fun playing a round or two before I would lose my lives. When visiting the arcade as a kid, I’d want to save most my quarters for the flashy games like Time Crisis or Mortal Kombat, but Frogger and Space Invaders had a special place in my heart. And now with these Micro Arcades, I can be transported to the dark corner arcade of my movie theater for 5 minutes while I wait in line at the supermarket. This fella fits in *any* pocket with ease, you can bring it with you practically anywhere. Barring overzealous roughhousing or some aquatic adventures, this little gadget should be able to accompany you along any journey. Perfect for short bursts of fun between activities and time killing when a phone signal is impossible. It’s light as can be, weighing about as much as my reading glasses. The metal backing is sturdy as heck and feels great to the touch. The clear plastic top feels tough enough, but nowhere near as strong as the metal backing. I wouldn’t have minded the extra ounce to the weight if they’d made the front out of the back material too. I also noticed the clear plastic scratched up pretty easy, even if the scratches were faint. Since the plastic case covers the screen, that means the screen scratches easy too. Thankfully the scratches aren’t terribly noticeable when off and all but invisible when playing, so I’m not really holding that against the design in my scoring.I’ll grant them the device looks way cooler all clear and exposing it’s “guts” than if the top had the metal material too like I wished it would. From a marketing standpoint, the clear face design and sharp packaging make the product really pop on a shelf, or when opening up your Amazon box. When I initially received mine, I was more impressed than I thought I would be just by the packaging alone. These would make fantastic small gifts or very fancy stocking stuffers. The buttons and D-Pad feel fantastic and and have a great tactile click to them. They are a little noisy though, so you won’t be playing in stealth mode just because the volume is turned off. The sound is very loud and crisp, but not the same sound effects I remember from the arcade. I also wish there was a second lower volume setting other than just on and off. That’s my biggest gripe with this micro arcade. Still, I prefer playing with sound on if I’m not around others it might bother. You can get away with the beeps waiting in line at Costco, not so much at Wells Fargo. The battery charges quick, about an hour from dead to full tank. It uses so little juice, you’ll find yourself plugging it in to top off a charge long before it ever dies on you. And it’ll hold that charge forever. Or at least longer than some marriages. The gameplay is pretty much exactly how I remember, though it’s been a good decade since I dropped quarters in a machine and played for real. I can’t comment on how truly authentic the levels and AI patterns and such are to the original, but unless your hardcore you shouldn’t feel out of place. And obviously it controls different too with the D-Pad and not a stick, but it still plays great. The colors on this are vibrant and it displays vividly in a pitch black room or outside in full daylight.Overall I would give this 8 out of 10 stars, or 4 out of 5. It does everything it said it could do and does it very well. Looks great, plays fun. Highly recommended if you like Space Invaders. I’m really looking forward to their release of Frogger and Tempest. One of the buttons on this device is also redundant and not used at all, but I figure that’s just left over from all micro arcades using the same design regardless of game. The extra button doesn’t hurt it, so I’m not scoring that against it. But I thought it worth mentioning as no other review I came across had.

    Decent Port of Space Invaders

For a little tiny credit card sized game, this is pretty decent. They got most of the details fairly correct, though due to hardware limitations, you won’t get real arcade sound effects. Some graphics are missing, like invader explosions, etc. And the only time the invader armada seems to really speed up is when you’ve only got 1 left. But all in all, it’s a very good little presentation and it’s nice to have it in a coat pocket or a wallet to play anytime.

It’s small and it’s some form of PAC-Man kind of

I liked that it was very small. Speed is wrong. Sound is wrong. Controls are good. Doesn’t speed up correctly. It’s not a arcade ROM nor a NES port. Kinda like those old LCD games that weren’t PAC-Man kinda. This is kinda PAC-Man. Plenty of other options out there. Mine was supposed to be new but the seal being tampered with and the flaps not put back correctly belie that. Would I buy it again? Yep as I have all kinds of versions of PAC-Man.

    it’s Tetris, just really small

Let me start off by saying it’s Tetris… If you like playing the long-form Marathon mode, that’s what you’ll be getting with this handheld. With that being said, it’s a fantastic game.As for the handheld console itself, it’s decent overall. Build quality is good, but the front and back scratch fairly easily. My high scores never saved after powering the console off, but that’s not a huge deal. The buttons are a bit loud, so keep that in mind if you’re sitting right next to someone while playing. Battery life is great, but the charging LED is super bright and annoying.Overall, it’s cheap and fun. Not the greatest Tetris experience, but definitely not a bad one (as long as you play with the sound off).

Overall pretty good product, but BOY HOWDY THE SOUND IS DREADFUL.

The game plays identical to the Tiny Arcade version of Q*bert. It’s super well-emulated, but as there’s no built-in speaker, all the sound is represented with HORRIBLE ear-splitting beeps. My best advice is that if you buy one of these, play it with the sound off.Another minor complaint I have is that although it’s advertised that you can fit it in your wallet, it’s far too thick to fit inside the standard pockets. I guess they’re talking very big wallets.

Terrible! Game runs slow, screen smaller than you think, overall not fun at all.

Two things completely ruin the potential enjoyment of this product:1) Despite the description claiming that this plays ‘just like the iconic full-size arcade version,’ gameplay is slow and choppy, and the sound effects are off. For example, the sound heard in the arcade version when a ghost catches Pac Man is missing.2) The device is small, and the rectangular area that appears to be the screen does not reflect the actual gameplay area. The game itself only fills about 80% of the space. There is a border all around, including a strangely large bottom border. So the actual game image is even smaller than you’d expect. At this size, it REALLY puts a strain on the eyes. The game uses a rechargeable lithium battery. While this would be a good thing if the game were fun to play (no need to buy replacements!) it is a detriment here. I’m sure many people are just going to throw it in the trash, but lithium batteries can’t just go in the dumpster. So now there is the hassle of having to dispose of it properly!!!
