    MPOW Impresses again

I have owned a few MPOW products and am always impressed at how they are able to pack a lot of features in decent products at highly competitive price-points. This headset is no different. If you are a gamer and serious about gear, you will recognize that this headset looks like a knockoff of one of the more popular gaming headsets of the last decade – the HyperX Cloud series. I have been happily using the Cloud (original) headset for about 5 years now, so the best way I can describe this headset is in relation to that one.Build: This headset is extremely similar to the HyperX in form and build quality. The earcups are shaped more like the Alpha’s. The earcup and headband cushion is slightly more plush that the Clouds, although that might be due to wear on my set. However, the foam density is lower and the clamping strength stronger than the Clouds, making these less comfortable for longer gaming sessions. The two most noticeable differences out of the box: 1. The microphone boom arm is much cheaper. You will have to be careful with this. 2. The brackets that hold the earcups are actually much better. The metal is thicker and the brackets that hold the joints together seem to be better constructed. This is really good because this joint was a common fail point for me on the Clouds.Sound: When I first used the wireless adapter, I felt that the sound was just okay and a little gamer-like with mediocre mids and booming bass. It’s not bad, but noticeable not as good as the Clouds plugged into my motherboards sound ports. So, I tried to plug the headset in to see what it sounded like on equal footing. It is every bit as good as the Clouds. I’m really happy with it. I will probably use the wireless mode despite the lower sound quality because part of the reason I got these was to get rid of cords. My hope is that MPOW steps up and creates a beefy sound suite for these things that provides us an EQ. Downloading Equalizer APO allowed me to set equalizer settings in wireless mode. Once I was able to get an equalizer and some other audio setting in the wireless mode, these sound amazing in wireless as well. This means that MPOW didn’t skimp with onboard amp/power. Thoroughly impressed with their ability to put out high-quality products, focusing on features where they really count, and bringing them to market at extremely competitive prices. Now that I got the levels set, the only difference between this and my Clouds is that these are open back and the Clouds are closed. The drivers sound virtually identical. While open-back headphones tend to give a better sound stage, I prefer to have the noise isolation of closed-back headphones due to my loud family members. Not a deal-breaker but be aware.Mic quality: So, despite the boom arm being noticeably cheaper than the HyperX’s, the sound quality of the mic, IMO, was better. The sound was not quite so tinny and my voice was nice and clear. Big win there.Battery life is long enough to last an entire day of active use. Be sure to plug it in at night though. Two full days is a stretch. While there may be some internal power-saving going on when not in use, I have noticed the power light stays on even if I walk away for an hour, so that internal 5 minute shut off they talk about isn’t really powering everything down. It is best to just shut them off manually.Probably my main gripe is that they didn’t ship with an audio cord splitter. The included cord (which is a good length) is a 3-pole connector like a cell phone. Given that this is marketed for gaming and most motherboards have the stereo and mic separate, this really should’ve been in the box.Pros:Good Build QualitySound great as long as you are using something like Equalizer APO or Viper4WindowsMic QualityCons:Not quite as comfortable as I want them to be for longer gaming sessionsNo cord splitter in the box.No software to make adjustments in wirelessOverall, I feel this is an amazing value. The only thing that would make me regret this purchase is their longevity. Time will tell. In terms of the audio experience, I feel I have lost nothing in the transition, gained freedom of movement, and saved a bundle. Highly recommended.

Ultra Comfort With A “Mic” Catch

I must say as a loyal MPOW customer of about 7+ years, this headset leaves much to be desired in terms of the microphone. On the other hand, the overall quality is top-notch. Some of the best I have ever experienced. For this model, the mic is detachable, and this is my first experience with a detachable mic. Parties say I fade in and out. When I watched back some footage on my PS4, I did notice their complaints were valid. Because of the 2.4Ghz signals that Bluetooth requires, I might be unlucky as I have a lot of Bluetooth signals active in my living space. Not to mention a range extender in my office where I used these the most.I would like MPOW to go back to the drawing board with these. MPOW always delivers with their audio equipment and I hope to see these improved.Side note: The set of the headset I received had the AUX port damaged/not working correctly.

    Just Wow!!

I cannot believe how awesome this headset is. I didn’t want to spend 100+ just for a headset they may not even be that good. After looking at the reviews and that price Wow. The sound is amazing the bass it gives you is 100%. It was also so easy to connect to my laptop wirelessly I am beyond words. Thank you mpow for making an amazing and affordable protect.

    Quality Headset

This headset doesn’t feel like a $60 headset. The ear padding is very comfortable and comparable to a $300 pair of Astros that my husband uses. There is quite a bit of flexibility in the headband. The sound and voice are both really clear. I tested both on discord and Roll20. I can wander around my entire house and not lose connectivity. I have already recommended these to friends.

    Decent Product for the Money

Great sound for a great price. This is one of the more affordable pairs of wireless gaming headphones I’ve come across in my searches.PROS:- Sound quality- ComfortCONS:- Battery Indicator: the earphones will beep periodically to let you know the battery is getting low; however, in my experience this means that your battery is actually about to die. In other words, if you hear that beep, you may as well start charging, because you’ve got minutes of runtime left. Would be nice to have a more accurate battery readout, like a status bar.No Wired Mic Function: IF your battery does die and you opt to plug directly into your PC using the included cable, it’ll be headphones only; the microphone will only work wirelessly.- Wireless Network Interference: The wireless transmitter was interfering with my wireless receiver on both my PC and my laptop across the room. When using the headphones wirelessly, it would kill the incoming net connection because both were broadcasting at 2.4ghz. In order to fix this I had to upgrade my wireless router (it was overdue) to dual-band so that my wireless net connection broadcasts on 5G whereas the headphones operate on 2.4. This solved the interference problem.

Absurd value if you’re ok with bass heavy sound emphasis

I recently tried a pair of Cloud Flights, but felt they were horrendously uncomfortable and they were double the price of these headphones. I also felt the sound was very tinny and lacked bass response. I love my OG Cloud headphones, but the 3.5mm cable was dying. These are basically a clone of that design with wireless thrown in.The MPOWs are a little heavy on bass for some people, and the bass gets distorted at higher volumes (perfectly tight and punchy at the volume I like). They’re slightly more clampy on my head than the OG Clouds, but I’m guessing they’re just stretched out from owning them for 5+ years. The mic sounds really good for what it is, and being detachable is nice. I wish it retracted into the body like more modern headsets, but that’s just me being nitpicky. I haven’t had them long enough to comment on battery life, but I rarely use headphones all day anyways.I’ve included photos comparing the Old Cloud headset to the MPOW wireless headset. The MPOW is slightly bulkier, which makes one think they’ll be drastically heavier. I weighed both out of curiosity, and including the 3.5mm cord weight for the clouds, they were only 20 grams lighter than the MPOW. This means they must have shaved a bunch of weight elsewhere without drastically affecting build quality. These definitely feel a little less “solid” than the Hyper X Clouds, but not by a lot. The plastic is sturdy, and there’s no unnecessary flex. The padding is more robust and dense than the Hyper X model. This feels like magic to me. I’m not sure how MPOW did it at this price, but I’m glad they did. These probably wouldn’t be great for competitive gaming where you want less bass, but for me, these are excellent. I’m so happy with these! I am so glad I returned my Hyper X Flight and got the MPOW. I was about to drop $200+ on a set of steel series pro’s, but this feels like the right decision.Edit: I’ve used them for around 12 hours without charging them, and I wasn’t getting low battery warning yet. Battery life seems good!

May not be as bad as I thought…..

UPDATE:The company (after I received my refund) sent me a new pair. They have continued to offer me money for a better review. I won’t take that bribe. As for the new pair, these work quite well. They have a very good range when wireless, and they have yet to drop out on any of my machines. This suggests to me that the manufacturing may be a bit spotty. The sound is decent and they are very comfortable on my head. I use them more for work then play, and my coworkers report that I sound pretty good. The price isn’t bad. If you take a chance on them, let folks know how you really feel about them. And don’t take the money for 5 star reviews!I knew I was in trouble when I found the $20 Amazon gift card in the box. All I needed to do was log on and leave a 5 star review, take a picture of the review and send it in and they would activate the card. They are offering bribes for good reviews! If the headset can’t get good reviews without a bribe, there has to be a problem. And there was.If you use the cord, it works pretty well. The sound quality is OK. They are very comfortable. The problem is the wireless feature. It didn’t matter which of my 4 computers I plugged them into, the dongle would connect with the headset and then stay connected for a few minutes. The quality of the sound when wireless was horrid. After 5 minutes or so, they would stop communicating with each other. Sometimes, unplugging the dongle and restarting the Headset would fix it, but more often it wouldn’t.These are not the headsets you are looking for!

    Great headset for the price!

I originally was a little skeptical on this head set. For the price of it I wasn’t expecting much out of it. When it comes to gaming head sets you get what you pay for but in this case it surprised me.-The sound quality is great. So much so that I need to occasionally turn down the head set because of volume can be set so high. Big plus that the microphone is removable. I hardly ever use a mic when gaming so its great to be able to get that out of the way.-On first set up I was having a problem with getting it hooked up to my PC. My PC refused to acknowledge that a “Speaker” cord was plugged into it. I blame that on my PC, not the head set.-After plugging in USB wireless adapter I was having an issue getting sound to come out of the head set. I was assuming the head set was on when I tried to connect by the blue mic light that stayed solid on the head set. It took a few tries of turning it off an back on to get it to connect. Also I had to use the USB port in my Corsair keyboard to get it to work though I am sure that is just my own PC being picky.-Charge time is good. After charging it for about an hour the first day it lasted about five hours. I haven’t had a problem with battery life but I do charge it after every use. One thing to not that is if you are charging the head set you cannot use the head set at the same time. Tried with a longer cord (Since the cord that comes with it is extremely short) and it wouldn’t allow the headset to be turned on. Thought that maybe because the battery was so low it didn’t have enough power to turn on so I waited 10 minutes. Nope, still wouldn’t turn on while charging. No biggie though.-The head set itself is comfortable and fits perfectly around the ears. It does not become uncomfortable at all while I am wearing it whether around my ears on the part that rests against the top of the head. It stays firmly in place and does not budge at all.Distance for the wireless connectivity is pretty amazing. From my PC I can walk about 30 to 40 feet away and it will still work. Any farther than that and it will start to break up by cutting in and out.All in all this headset is great for the price. Goes to show that you don’t need to drop over 100 dollars on a head gaming headset to get good quality. I’ve only had the head set for about a month now but it has exceeded my expectations so far.
