    Deeply disappointed

Very unhappy about my purchase with this seller. So many things went wrong here I’m not even sure where to start.1. I didn’t even receive the OLED model as advertised I got an LCD.2. While I was fine with the “slight blemish or bezel that may or may not be on the back”, the console I received looked like it had just come back from the wars and was looking for a smoke, whiskey and screw before quietly dying while you weren’t looking. It was terrible scuffed dinged and just plain broken in some places.3. This brings me to the culmination of the issues. If you are going to put a new piece of front glass on a glorified electric waste, could you at least make sure the touch screen works!? The device was completely unusable as the touch screen didn’t even work to unlock the console.Never thought I’d be saying this, but tomorrow I will be going to Gamestop to inspect their used devices and if that doesn’t work, I’ll just have to buy a new device. Really thought this would be a better experience with all the positive reviews but hopefully this was just a fluke and not how this company usually operates.

Item more damaged as listed but overall nice buy.

So my original PS Vita (PCH-1000) with the OLED screen finally shut down after about 2 year’s time. This is right around the time I was at the start of my 2nd year in the Persona 4 Golden storyline. Of course I was irritated to say the least. Instead of going through the trouble of replacing the screen on my own, I decided to buy a refurbished PS Vita (PCH-2000) LCD screen model for a heavily discounted price. I’ve heard good reviews of the newer Vita so I thought why not give it a try. Also given that I have over 80 PS Vita games and hundreds of PS4 games I didn’t play yet that are of worthy play through value, I do plan on eventually taking them on the go to play in my downtime when traveling.MY NEW LCD VITA’s PROS and CONSPROS:- Long battery life- Came with a 4GB memory card- All buttons and sensors are working- Came with 2 games on memory card- Very lightweight- Price was pretty cheap (refurbished)- Works well with PS4 Remote PlayCONS:- Was listed in Good Condition (LIKE NEW) but had noticeable scratches on the main screen, which wasn’t too bad;however had VERY HORRIBLE scratches on the rear touchpad which were not mentioned prior.- Did not come with a power adaptor, but that was mentioned in the prior description before buying so no biggie.- Was dirty and Left Joystick had defect where during games it kept pushing forward on its own (I fixed this by using a sharp pointed nail filer and cleaning the dirt around the Joystick and blowing it good).OVERALL:Good buy for the money considering the huge discount.(FOR A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE OLED VITA VS THE LCD VITA SEE BELOW… ALSO INCLUDED MANY PICS IN MY REVIEW)———————————————–I previously owned an OLED Vita which I loved to death. But as we all know, technology wasn’t built to last forever. I now have purchased the newer LCD Vita. With that being said, I will compare both Vitas.OLED vs LCD VITA REVIEW (SCREEN):The OLED screen is a hands down winner. It isn’t even close. The colors are more vivid and the superior quality is very noticeable during gameplay. The LCD screen only takes the win when playing outside in bright sunlight as it becomes a little more clear to see during those times. Outside in bright light the OLED screen seems too dimly lit to see but is still manageable. In other words, if I take my Vita outside to play in a hot, bright, long, Hawaii/Florida type of summer, I gotta go with the LCD Vita. In all other circumstances, it’s the OLED Vita. No comparison.Winner: OLED VitaOLED vs LCD VITA REVIEW (BATTERY LIFE):It is true that the LCD Vita does have better battery life. I seem to get a few more hours out of my LCD Vita when compared to my OLED Vita. It does much better when on Standby as well. However on both Vitas you can always lower the screen brightness when necessary to save more battery. Usually instead, I simply put my Vita into Power Saving Mode to extend the battery.Winner: LCD VitaOLED vs LCD VITA REVIEW (OUTSIDE HARDWARE):The OLED Vita seems more expensive and more sturdy with a solid metal build. The LCD Vita is more lightweight in a cheaper and softer plastic build. I have an AmazonBasics Heavy-Duty Vault Case which fits my OLED Vita and not the LCD Vita I just received. It wasn’t originally designed for the LCD one but I still managed to make it fit after using some pressure. So just make sure to check the description before buying any case to see which one will fit yours since both Vitas aren’t the same sizes. Another bonus of the LCD Vita is that it comes with a Micro USB port for charging, which is universally used. You can basically always find a plug and a place to charge this Vita, unlike the OLED version. The OLED controls do seem more precise and it never gave me any dirt related issues or break downs. It also feels more comfortable, but that is a personal preference. The LCD Vita is more susceptible to those above issues mentioned.Winner: Tie, but LCD Vita does come with micro USB charging.OLED vs LCD VITA REVIEW (INSIDE SOFTWARE):The PS Vita’s obscene, overly priced memory cards have been ridiculed for some time now and was a fatal mistake in the long run which can’t be fixed at this point. A benefit of the newer LCD version is included memory of what I believe is 1GB. It’s not much but it does help. Note that this memory can not be used at the same time as an inserted SD card. It’s give or take, but is great at downloading your favorite new game or 2 on the go less than 1GB in size from the PS Store. It also seems to have a faster processor, although not by much. I did notice that a few games seemed to load slightly faster with less frame rate drops in higher graphically intense games. PS4 Remote Play works well with both Vitas but seemed slightly more responsive with the newer LCD Vita. The LCD Vita also has an impoved camera processor.Winner: LCD VitaOVERALL SUMMARY:Winner: OLED VitaBoth Vitas are worth the investment. The newer LCD Vita does have better battery and a few slight enhancements. But the original OLED Vita’s display and overall aesthetic appeal is a no match in my opinion.Given a choice, I would go with the OLED Vita. But if the LCD Vita is the only available Vita you can grab, I would say it’s worth it. For plane travelers who do a lot of flying and traveling to different places, the LCD may benefit you more as it has a longer battery life. Also when I was living in Japan I found myself using my Vita a lot in trains. Any New Yorker or city dweller will find it useful to kill time in the subways and longer commutes.I personally used my OLED Vita often times as a multimedia device watching Netflix on the go. True a tablet can do this, but the Vita is small enough to fit in your pocket and a better gaming device on the go, which is a bonus. This saves my phone’s battery from heavy drainage due to gaming and movie binges. The Vita is an all-in-one.For you heavy PS4 users, I find myself using Remote Play more often on the Vita than I originally thought I would. It’s a good benefit when playing RPGs and some Sports games, as it can be used as an extra controller when playing with friends. I’ve used it with Call of Duty and Battlefield, as well as Assassin’s Creed and the NBA 2K series, but under intense gaming situations, the touch screen can be a headache and does take some time getting used to.Remote Play isn’t perfect. It’s missing the L2/R2 buttons, which it compensates with the touch screen, so be aware of that if you’re mainly buying the Vita for Remote Play or as an additional PS4 controller to use.————————————————————————UPDATE : MAY 14th, 2017So after using my new LCD Vita for about a week, I noticed some things.Overall the gameplay and Remote Play options seem the same for both Vitas. Maybe the newer LCD Vita is slightly faster but it is barely noticeable in most situations. It does win with the battery life by a long shot. The micro USB charging also is a win-win.The OLED Vita has a better feel to me and a screen display that is too beautiful to describe in words unless you’ve ever had the opportunity to play on one. Even by today’s standards, that screen is a beautiful work of art. Just see it for yourself and be blown away.I still gotta go with the OLED Vita as my winner.*** If using Remote Play, I’ve noticed to keep your PS4 in Standby Mode. Never turn it completely off or your Vita won’t be able to turn it back on when you’re away from it.With the PS4 in Standby or simply left Powered On, I love how I can be almost anywhere in the world and still stay connected to my PS4 and play my favorite games on the go. I used this a lot during my time in the Navy. The Vita maybe outdated by today’s specs, but since the screen is so small, PS4 games still look beautiful on the display. I can travel and play my favorite PS4 games without ever needing to take my PS4 with me. Just make sure your connected wifi is secure and fast enough. In today’s bandwidth I will say ideally you want at least a speed of 10Mbps, but it’s been known to work well with less depending on the situation and location. ****** Another thing to note is that Vita support is dwindling in some areas. First they cancelled AAA gaming support on a very capable device. After that they cancelled YouTube support (though it can still be accessed through the web browser). They also cancelled many other app support and will soon be cancelling support for Live from PlayStation streaming (see the pic in my attached photos).I hate that Sony gave up so fast on a very good device without marketing it well and I’m sure they have paid the price for it. Vita support is still big in the Japan market with new games and updates to some existing games being made every month. So for the time being you can always find newer JRPG games like Attack on Titan, Toukiden 2, Danganronpa 3, and Persona-like inspired games. There is other 3rd party support also with some new games you may like and some you may not.If that is not your thing then the Vita still has a great backlog of its games capable on its own, PS4 games (Remote Play), PS3 games (PS Now), PS2, PS1, and PSP backwards compatibility. It’s truly a legacy gaming machine.

    Second times a charm.

I ordered two vitas from here. The first one I got looked like junk. It was dirty and the left joy-stick didn’t work correctly. It looked as if it had been left out in the weather due to it having dirt caked in the speaker holds and in the buttons. I contacted amazon and they did what they could to try to help me to get it working. after a couple of days of trying different things they told me to return it for a full refund. I sent it back and was refunded my money. With a lot of hesitation i did order another one from the same place. The second one i got looked almost like new. I was very happy with the purchase. Because they did help me and try to get it working and was able to end up with a very nice vita, I do recommend to get one from here. I do feel if you are not happy or the product isn’t up to par they will do what is needed to make it right.

Really great if your in the niche that this almost fills

In case this review is too long, I’ll give you the BLUF (bottom line, up front): I want so much to like this platform. I keep getting so into gaming on it, and then put it down for weeks. Since I still pick up my (very) old and battered PSP and play a few sports games on it from time to time, I am sure that I’ll stick with the Vita long enough to make this a lasting (if not on-again off-again) relationship. The bad?The OS is childish and strange. Tapping through a series of menus for the simplest of actions. This clunkiness will lead you to use your cell phone for all of those extra feature that ‘should’ make the Vita shine (music, tv, etc). The ‘cute’ buttons give me the feeling of playing on some made for kids tablet, like a leapfrog. -1 StarThe browser is odd. It would be forgivable if the WiFi chip weren’t so agonizingly weak. It is slow, non-intuitive, and cranky. I has a larger screen than my phone and I would rather use that to surf. Nuff said on that. -.5 StarThe Triggers. OMG the triggers. Handheld gaming was forever gimped when Sony tossed out the original PSP with just ONE analog stick.ONE.Now, after years of whining… we got our analog stick! There’s a catch though. While all the major consoles now give you dual triggers, Sony has opted to have this console start the next generation of handheld gaming already obsolete, with only the L and R buttons. *sigh. The grip is great, but all full-sized people needed some sort of aftermarket grip thingy in order to keep hold of the PSP. It may be asking much to include some sort of fold-out grip on this thing, but it’s not entirely unreasonable. Regardless, it’s no big deal to get one. I highly recommend – especially if you play shooters. -2 StarsSecond screen: I hesitate on where to put this, but will settle on it as a con. The iPad is simply better. If you’re going to do second screen with PS4, you want something bigger than the Vita. It will work when your family is hogging all those gadgets that clearly are meant for your gaming pleasure. This is a bonus feature, so I won’t rank it down for that.Memory. Sony insists on proprietary memory cards. I’m sure there is this great reason for it, but it is so annoying. More on this later. Here’s The good:This thing does remote play for PS4 (and PS3, but I haven’t played with that). While that may not matter much to some (why would you remote play when you can just use your tv?), it has made this thing worthwhile for me. Despite the baaaaad WiFi chip, I can stream Dragon Age Inquisition, Assassins Creed Black Flag, Destiny – hell, any game on the PS4 will remote play to the Vita. Sony has made it a MANDATORY feature, and it may just be the gimmick they need. There are caveats to this wonderful feature, though. Obviously you need to be close. It will stream directly to the console if you are really close, or will need a beefy WiFi signal otherwise. The lack of triggers make this feature irritating for some games (DA:I). Others have remapped the controls to make it seamless (Destiny). To me, the usefulness of remote play is legion. If your wife is on your back because you aren’t sitting next to her as she does her thing – remote play. Pizza hitting the gut extra hard? Remote play. Hiding? Remote play. Want to play in bed? Remote play. Slicing peoples throats not suitable while the kids are home? Remote play. Exploring the lesbian romance options of your female character and Sera while the (insert family member here) is home? Remote play. I tested out the feature by hooking my PS4 up at work. Played DA:I over lunch break right at my desk, and people just thought I was using my phone. I warn you that remote play can be frustrating. If your WiFi lags or you get too far away, you will drop the stream. The controls can experience slight delays at times, but any delay is noticeable. This is good for a quick get away or an hour or so of gaming. Beyond that, you will probably get strained and want your tv back. +5 StarsGraphics. There is no contest among handhelds here. This is the best. Doesn’t affect ranking (seriously, where is the competition?)Touchscreen: Double edged sword. For remote play, use of the rear touch feature in place of the triggers is a ‘tad’ unresponsive. Don’t try to use it for games where the use of that button at a precise moment is life or death. Swipe commands for the forward touchscreen are very responsive, and some games use them very intuitively. Something about swiping the screen, though… makes you feel like your tablet gaming. If I wanted to do that… well, you know. Comes out even in the rankings, I guess. The games are great if you don’t go for RPG’s like a madman. Shooters shine well (finally, handheld gets shooters), racing games are touch and go, depending on the game (Wipeout 2048 is nice). Games like Uncharted, Walking Dead, and Little Big Planet are choice for this platform. I found games like Don’t Starve and Minecraft just left me wishing I was playing them on my laptop. RPG’s are all Japanese style. If you like those, you’re good, otherwise… lol. I am biased against them – not a fan of the writing, voice acting, character development, combat systems, music, art, or lore. +.5 Star (this is more on the games, not the device).Features: While the interface is clunky, once you get past that you have plenty of features to help this thing along. Photos, music, and movies are expected on this gen devices. Thats just ‘supposed’ to be there. The Vita gets PS Now, which is promising, and is slated to get Project Morpheus – which is exciting. Sony has said it will focus more on new features and cross platform (read, between PS4 and Vita) functionality in the future. +1 Star. I Hesitatingly rank this up, seeing as how Sony was recently found guilty of false advertising concerning the Vita.Storage: Ok, I know I said the memory cards are annoying, but having expandable storage for this is great. The *cough* proprietary cards are small and store well. You can have a game card AND a memory card in at the same time. The 16 GB memory card I have in right now has Wipeout 2048 (racing), Killzone Mercaneries (shooter), Uncharted (Adventure), Minecraft (duh), Don’t Starve (survival), Gravity Rush (weird RPG), and a few other PSN titles and applications with some (not much) room to spare. On a trip overseas, I loaded one up with movies and music, and another with games. Breaks even… because ef proprietary cards, thats why.

Refurb of original Vita in pristine condition for a great price

No need to write a review of an old console that’s on its way out. I’ll just share that my experience with this refurb was perfect. I got an original OLED Vita with virtually no signs of wear. I have probably caused more wear on it than it came with. The main negative of the original Vita (besides moderately worse battery life) is that there are fewer accessories for it. I especially want one of those grips that adds triggers by creating a mechanism that presses the right part of the rear touch, and makes it way more enjoyable to do remote play (main reason I bought it). It exists but only from third party sellers for over $100.If I were to write just a quick list of loves and hates, then… I love the screen, the d-pad, the size/weight, remote play, the indie game selection, cross buy/play, psp homebrew, free ps+ games. I hate the start/select buttons, the back touch (especially when used to emulate L2/R2 in remote play), the sticks, the lack of L2/R2, the overpriced memory cards (nothing can be played without one, not even retail cards), the lack of 5 ghz wifi or ethernet that leaves you with no option for fast internet, the terrible slowness of psn downloads, the terrible UI for discovering games or even downloading old games, the fact that Sony abandoned something with so much promise. I don’t mind the proprietary charger, it is sturdy and reliable, unlike micro-usb ports that if (when) they break will make your console unusable.I got a Vita super-late, after it had already sorta ended its life, so I could do remote play and try out some of the back library and all the free ps+ games I’d accumulated over time. It is too bad what happened to the Vita, because a Vita 2 with all of its problems fixed could have been something great. Now the Switch is everything the Vita could have been and then some. Farewell, Vita, you never even had a chance to live.

I’m not at all happy with my purchase

I’m not at all happy with my purchase. The model I bought is not the model I received. After reviewing many reviews I decided to buy the PSVita with OLED screen and have received the simplest slim model that has the worst comments. I feel even scammed because the model I bought is more expensive than the model that came to me. I do not want my money back, I want the model I bought, because I can not make a return from my current location

    Disappointed

I placed this order expecting to recieve the PSVITA 1001 With the OLED screen as described. I ended up with the 2001 in a smashed box. (amazon box is fine). Needless to say I would have gotten the 2001 cheaper from a different amazon vendor if that is the system I had wanted. Either way, after testing the vita does seem to be in working order, and undamaged. It just would have been nice to know I would be recieving the wrong system so I would not have to either send it back or the docking station that I ordered for the 1001

Highly underrated handheld perfection…for anime fans

Ahh the vita 1000, perfection in a handheld console; that is, if you are weeaboo/otaku anime fan like me. Vita haters who’ve never actually held or owned a vita don’t understand how vastly superior the hardware (including an incredible battery life, charge time, sleep mode, and the fact that it automatically goes to sleep mode to prevent loss of data when battery is too low, on top of not being region locked like a 3DS.) AND UI is compared to the 3DS (and I do own a 3DS to back this claim) and this version having a fantastic OLED screen. It is quite a pity however of the overpriced proprietary memory cards and lack of strong first party support to market this system to the masses. For the hardcore anime fan however, the vita has a PLETHORA of anime or anime artstyle games, JRPGs, slash and hacks, dungeon crawlers, rhythm games, visual novels, you name it. But understandably, vita fans like myself are a very small niche of gamers in the west and thus you’d need titles with strong western gamer appeal which this system is sorely lacking. But hey man, if you want to jump in to the vita, here’s a couple of titles to try out: Soul Sacrifice delta (SO underrated, this is NOT just another monster hunter clone, hell, Keiji Inafune helped in it’s development), persona 4 golden (don’t say this is JUST a PS2 port, this added so much additional content, story, and an entirely new character and subplot and system revamps/reworks it’s practically a new game), Disgaea 3/4 (similar to P4 golden, these are the definitive versions of the games and are vastly superior to the PS3 versions), Gravity Rush (one of the only games to utilize the full capacity of all the vita’s controls), and Freedom wars. If you are already in the deep end of being a weeaboo/otaku anime fan, of course there’s all the Hyperdimension Neptunia titles, Project Diva, Senran Kagura, VN’s like Steins gate, and everything else in between. Again, HIGHLY underrated handheld console, and yet I would only recommend it if you like anime and anime artstyled games and would like to play them on the go or honestly, on the toilet or in bed since a lot of vita titles are being ported to PS4 or Steam. It still is THE definitive way to play Persona 4 golden and Disgaea 3 and 4 however, and still has nifty additional features like streaming PS4 games onto it or being able to play all your digital copies of PS1 and PSP games purchased on the PSN store.

very pleased with this! only gripe is no memory card.

i’m actually very satisfied with this order! it came super fast and the product was to my surprise in better condition than described! it said it had medium wear and has damage on the edges of the frame and damage on the lanyard port. for the most part there right but i’d hardly call the damage “medium.” there are deep gashes on the two loops on the sides of the vita but beyond that i can’t find more than one scratch on the edges. so the damage only seems to be asthetic and hardly noticable. as for damage to the lanyard port i haven’t noticed anything of the sort actually. all i noticed is that it’s much more difficult for me to plug in my charger and pull it out and i mean really tough!! it almost seems like the charger is too big for the port, but it still charges and works. so no real issue just an annoyance. as mentioned by my title there is no memory card that comes with this ps vita, you only get a charger with your ps vita!!this is actually annoying cause the ps vita memory cards are extremely overpriced right now. even a 4gig could easily run over $20 here on amazon. though i do admit the ps vita is priced pretty cheaply. getting it for $100 bucks i guess it’s fair that i must buy my own memory card.so all in all i’d buy from this seller again as the ps vita came WAY before it was supposed to. it said earliest arrival would be about one or two weeks i got it in TWO DAYS!! upon arrival the ps vita was packaged very very well i mean it was really buried in that little box it came in suffocated under many blankets of bubble wrap=) wich is what you wanna see. the charger actually seems new as it has that new chemical smell (no worries it wears off fast) and is not dirty or chipped or anything. also the ps vita came FULLY CHARGED!!! also the battery seems to last a long time. i was worried since it was “used” the battery life might be short. thus defeating the purpose of even having the darn thing, but nope it runs a long good time. so if this is any indication of the other ps vita’s this seller has you may get the same or similar condition and treatment so i say go for it. for 100$ this was a pretty good buy!!

But even as things are it has a really expansive library of good games to play on it

This thing is magical. It’s a shame that more AAA games weren’t made for it, because then it would be more popular. But even as things are it has a really expansive library of good games to play on it, especially in the Playstation Store. Something that the Vita excels at is playing Indie games! Super Meat Boy, Minecraft, Shovel Knight, The Binding of Isaac Rebirth, Citizens of earth, just so many excellent indie games play wonderfully on this machine. There are new indie titles with plans to move to the PS Vita every week, and personally I hope that Undertale makes the transition at some point. There are a handful of great AAA titles too, and if you own one of these things you NEED to have both Tearaway and Little Big Planet. They both use all of the features of the Vita and they make them feel like they are SUPPOSED to be there. If you are like me then you probably raised an eyebrow when you heard that the entire back panel of the Vita is actually touch sensitive. When you play Tearaway and you see your finger pushing through the ground inside the game world, though, all of that skepticism just melts away.Another interesting feature of the Vita is that it’s Region Free. Meaning that if you like japanese games but they don’t get released in the country that you live, you can have it shipped and it will play without any problems on the Vita. Well, one problem. you can’t download DLC from japan if your playstation account is in a different country. Either way, if you like JRPG’s, I’ve heard that this is a good way to play them. I wouldn’t know personally, but there you go.The Vita is a good. You should buy it.
