Great basic backlit keyboard for everyday use.

This is a great low priced keyboard. I bought it as an extra keyboard to keep connected to my kvm so i would not have to keep moving my good keyboard back and forth when i need to do something to my servers. It is great for basic typing or whatever everyday task you could need a keyboard for. I would not reccomend it for gaming though its feature set is not not suited for that. If you need a basic keyboard with a few color choices the aid in typing in low light, than this keyboard would be a perfect choice. Just dont expect a great gaming experience as the switches in this feel 100% membrane i could tell the difference from my cherry switches immediately. I would reccoment this for anyone who just needs a basic keyboard at a low price and wants some color backlight options.

    Bset $20 keyboard so far.

I’ve had alot of crappy cheap tech from Amazon, especially keyboards. I go through them like mad because of the types of games I play. Usually most of them don’t even make it for more than a few minutes before I decide I hate them. This keyboard is GREAT. Feels good, LEDs are nice looking, and I like the way the top right side of the keyboard lights up red with the numlock/capslock keys.If you want a NICE CHEAP KEYBOARD that works for gaming, this is your #1 choiceif you want a professional tier mechanical keyboard, go somewhere else. But this will suffice until you can afford one of those.[update 4/30/2020] Still an awesome keyboard. Works as perfectly as it did on day 1. I’ll continue updating this until the keyboard dies (if it ever dies!)

    Great customizable backlighting and feel

Some reviewers have previously mentioned wanting software for the keyboard. However, using the function key with the scroll lock, home, page up and page down keys will cycle through all the color and brightness options. Once I figured that out, I was very pleased! This is a mechanical keyboard, so it is not quiet. It does have a definite feel to when you’ve pressed a key – which is why we all choose this kind of keyboard in the first place. The font on the keys is unique. I like it.I love that this keyboard is thin and wide as I can use it in front of my gaming laptop comfortably for both work and play but still have the numeric keypad and an Enter key that’s still in the right place.

keyboard worth more than the price

Let me start by saying how much i dislike keyboard with loud sounding keys i know it makes you feel like a movie hacker but its just too annoying once the novelty wears off. With that said this keyboard is just the right amount of noise from pressing the keys with solid feel. The RGB is bright and pretty noticeable and the letters arent some cheap paint that wears off after a few months of owning. its a great keyboard for the price and for casual gaming.

This Keyboard Is Amazing And This Is Why

At First I was a little nervous about the fact that this is 20 bucks. As soon as this keyboard the boxing was standerd witch is good. After opening it i was highly impressed i seen the rgb it was great for the price by pushing fn and scrlk to change the rgb.and then i started typing it felt almost the same as my ducky panda keyboard witch has blue switched but these were not as loud. and i have dropped drinks on this keyboard and its fine so overall i have nothing bad to say about this keyboard

    Extraordinarily adequate

Things I like:• A very sleek and minimalist design. Almost everything is there that I’d want to be there featurewise and little that I don’t want.• The look of the backlighting on the non-blinking rainbow setting is my favorite out of any keyboard I’ve ever owned.• Feels quite sturdy considering the price and features. It has a good feeling and distrubuted weight to it and the material doesn’t feel all that cheap tactilely.Things I don’t like:• It’s only noticeable if you look close, but the backlighting doesn’t fill out some of the keys evenly. For instance, if you look at the number keys then the tops that have the symbols of !@#$%^ aren’t totally lit. Very minor, but worth mentioning.• The keys feel somewhat ‘sticky'(maybe it’ll break in eventually?) and don’t provide enough resistance. I’ve mostly gotten used to it at this point, but they don’t have that perfect feel for typing that my last keyboard, a Corsair, had. The spacebar is probably the most annoying. I could forgive everything else, but not having perfect resistance on the spacebar I think is a big deal. To put it in perspective I dislike most mechanical keyboards for the noise and the resistance being slightly too high. I thought therefore that a membrane keyboard labelled as “mechanical feeling” could be perfect, but it actually feels like like a mechanical keyboard than most normal membranes I’ve used with deeper keys that don’t have the mechanical feeling label.• The only thing I’d really like added to the keyboard is dedicated keys for volume control above the numpad. I just don’t like having to press a combination of keys to lower the volume. Very minor again. It’s a very okay keyboard. For the people saying it’s more than a $20 value I’m not sure how much I agree. If it didn’t have the backlit keys then I would say it’s definitely not a $20 value. I type at about 95 WPM on Typeracer and I do find that I make slightly more mistakes with this keyboard just because it’s easier to fatfinger the wrong key and I’m an oaf. It’s very possible it’s just my personal expectation and I wouldn’t completely shoo anyone away from buying this keyboard, but I would say if at all possible try it out before hand.

Very nice RGB keyboard for a great price!

Absolutely love this Redragon K509 RGB keyboard! The keys have a comfy mechanical feel and are rather quiet. The color backlighting is a nice brightness and it’s overall just an awesome keyboard for just 20 bucks! You definitely won’t go wrong picking this one up for your setup. I’m using it with my Xbox One X currently and it’s fantastic.

it’s a cheap ok backlit keyboard for work but not for gaming.

this is one of the few back lit keyboards that has white, or close to white, back lighting. White is better for working in the dark. RGB is just for show and has no other purpose except instagram pics. This keyboard is a decent keyboard. I have been using it now for a couple of months. it is kinda of clickity, if that’s a word. it seems fairly responsive. The back lighting is good but has a fatal flaw. The upper right corner, above the number pad, which should be lit is not. I was told it is not supposed to be lit which is a bummer since the portion that is not lit is the border around the keyboard. so it make it look like crap.If you plan on using this for gaming I would pass. Its loud for gaming and the keys get super slick if you start to sweat and your finger will slip off the keys, this has caused me to die several times, sad face.Overall: $20 backlit keyboard is ok, just leave it in the office and cover the non lit border corner so as to avoid ridicule from your co-workers.

Bought 2 of these keyboards. Both stopped working 5-6 weeks after purchase.

When I purchased the first Redragon K509 keyboard, I also purchased a Redragon S107 keyboard and mouse combo at the same time. The keyboard in that S107 combo looks identical to this K509 keyboard. It even has the exact same instructions, looks identical, and behaves exactly the same. This K509 keyboard appeared to be a good value. I felt the quality was good for the price. The LED’s were not fixed colors (which is good), and the LED’s could be set in many colors, in “breathing mode” and constant brightness. However, when set to constant brightness, the lights dim a significant amount. I could live with that.I would give this K509 model a fairly high rating, but after 6 weeks, the first keyboard stopped working. Windows would no longer recognize the device. I tried plugging it into different USB ports, but that made no difference. I tried using the keyboard on 2 other PC’s, and they had the same trouble recognizing the device. I figured I just had bad luck, and ordered a second, exact same keyboard. After 5 weeks, this second keyboard started having the exact same trouble. Windows would no longer recognize the device. It couldn’t even tell it was a keyboard. Again, I tried this keyboard different USB ports and on two other PC’s. It would not work no matter which port or PC I plugged it into. Other devices, including other keyboards, work on each of the USB ports I tried on the 3 different PC’s. I also have a Redragon S107 Keyboard that is part of the Redragon S107 Keyboard/Mouse combo. That keyboard still works great, and looks and behaves identical to the K509, except for the label underneath the keyboard. The S107 keyboard (not this KB) works just fine on all 3 PC’s, and I still use it without trouble, to this day. I have contacted the manufacturer and attempted to get support for this product, multiple times, and they said that it was a problem with the USB port, and to plug into another port. I had tried this, as well as trying the keyboard on multiple USB ports on two other PC’s. The manufacturer would not admit that the problem was with the keyboard. I was given instructions how to remove the unrecognized device in the Windows “Device Manager”, and let windows recognize the device again. This had no effect. After the problems began, each time I plug in the keyboard, it would light up for a few seconds, the PC would make the typical “USB device attached” sound, then the light would turn off. Two or three seconds later, it would light up, PC makes the sound again, and lights turn off. It would repeat this for various number of times, before the keyboard would eventually have the lights stay ON, and look as if it was working, but none of the keys would respond. When I check Windows 10 “Device Manager”, I would see the keyboard listed as “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)” The Device Status read as, “Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed.” I like this keyboard. I would purchase another, but I worry that there may be a design or manufacturing flaw, causing an increased chance of the device failing to be recognized by the PC. I have only tried two of these keyboard, so I cannot be sure. But 0 out of 2 is not a record that would inspire the confidence for me to recommend this keyboard to anyone.I get this exact same behavior and error on all 3 PC’s… an HP desktop, a Dell/Alienware desktop, and a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Tablet PC. My Redragon S107 Keyboard and mouse combo continues to work just fine. I have an older USB keyboard being used instead of the two Redragon K509 keyboards. Neither K509 keyboard was damaged, dropped, or misused in any way. They get plugged in, and remain in a fixed position from that point forward. No food or drink is consumed near them, because they are located around other sensitive equipment.I should have attempted a product return on Amazon, but it was already outside the window of time I could return or exchange the product. That is on me. However, the manufacturer still would not admit that the keyboard was defective in any way, in spite of the obvious evidence to the contrary.

I enjoy typing on it because the keyboard itself is very …

I enjoy typing on it because the keyboard itself is very rigid due to the aluminum frame. However, the back-lighting is way too dim for me, even on the brightest setting. The edge lighting that illuminates from around the key-caps is brighter than the key-caps themselves; this blinds my eyes for a moment, so I cannot immediately read the keys until my eyes adjust. In a lighted room, when the back-lighting is turned off I cannot read the keys because it’s clear plastic that the back-lighting normally shines through. I think the entire keyboard should be colored white or silver, to provide better contrast with the letters, numbers and symbols on the key-caps, for when the keyboard is used in a lighted room without back-lighting. Perfect for typing in a dark room though.
