Best bang for the buck woreless headset on xb1

I dont know what everyone is talking about when they say theyre not loud enough. At full volume these will damage your hearing over time. Im good with them at like 60%. The charge lasts at least 10 hours if not 15. Its hard to tell cause i havent really timed it, the different audio EQs are adjustable right on the headset with the touch of a button, which is great if you switch games alot like me. Ive had no complaints about my voice quality and the flip up mic to mute is perfect for my household cause i got dogs and a baby and sometimes i just like to go take a leak without having to take my headset off. The pairing function is my favorite feature. Its just convenient to power it up and put it on. No hassling with buttons or chords never had to repair it or nothing. It works just like the controller. The only reason im giving it 4 stars is cause the plastic feels cheap and the headaet feels like it sits a little more forward on my head than most headsets which is weird. I totally forget about these two things when im actually playing so it doesnt really matter, but they just kinda feel disappointing to hold in the hand. Theres not alot if weight to them, i feel like if i left them on the couch and they got sat on they would be done for. The other thing is the ear foam pieces are kinda cheap. Theyre good at keeping all the sound out, but they feel like sponge wrapped in cheap couch fabric. They could have at leaat went with a fake leather or nice polyester jersey type weave. Aesthetically, theyre not the prettiest either, no lights or chrome or metal whatsoever. No flash. Just kinda mehhh boring looking. None of that stuff really matters though when im playing. If it wasn’t for them being made of cheaper material, i would have gave them 5 stars. Their functionality is great, competivley priced, conveniently wireless (no dongle to fidget with or lose), plenty loud enough, simple to use, and they hold a charge longer than most people would need for one play session probably 12hr battey

    Good but…

Had it for weeks now and use it almost every other day. After I did the update via my laptop, they work fine.I have two issues1. It is difficult to hear yourself. I find myself talking loudly because I sound low in the ear cups. So i’ve been told by my wife that I am not using my inside voice and lol during gameplay.2. The BGM gets warped. I do not how to explain it but I will try. I can play Monster Hunter World but the music will begin to slow down. You ever hear a TV show have music dying so it begins to slow down? That’s what happens while playing any game. I’ve tried it with MHW, Gears of War 4, and Rise of the Tomb Raider. If I play Insider, the audio is fine. It doesn’t have BGM and sounds fine.I keep it on 3rd setting (or beep) and depending on the game, I’ll put on Super Human Sound. They are comfortable. I can feel heat inside the cups after 2 hours but it’s not stressing me. Charges fast and last about 12 hours. I just wish I could hear myself and it didn’t warp music.Buy it, do the update, and enjoy. I also brought Dolby Atmos on sale. Only a hand full of media (games and movies) ustilize this feature. If it’s not on sale just use Microsoft Sonic for surround sound.

They’re on the right track. UPDATED

Not bad for a completely wireless headset. they connect to the console the same way the controller does so that’s very nice. The audio is crisp and I was surprised by the virtual surround sound and the different EQ sets. Nice quality all the way around. I normally don’t buy Turtle Beach because they have so many different kinds and I always found them to be of cheap quality. One thing I don’t like about this headset is the audio drops every once and a while and it’s kinda understandable but this is 2017. I guess it depends on what you have around. WiFi etc. I did update the firmware on the headset and the audio drops were less frequent but it still happened. Overall great headset to come around in a long time.REVIEW UPDATE: I had to return these. The sound cut off was getting worse and worse. There was also a high pitch noise like the other reviews have mentioned. I tried moving my wireless router and see if that made it better and no. Gosh I really wanted to like these. When they work they work well. If Turtle Beach does acknowledge these issues and provide a new update and things are working again then I might consider buying them but until then I cannot justify a reason to keep them around. One thing I will point out is the instructions are not accurate when going into the sound settings on the Xbox One. Maybe they made this with new system update that is coming up around the time the Xbox One X is released. Who knowsReview Update 9/16/17: I read about the new firmware so I bought them again updated to the latest firmware and no problems! The headphones are now working normally. Good job TurtleBeach.

    Quality

Cons: for a headset that is $80 and the name Turtle Beach i expected a good headset. What I got was some cheap knockoff that is so plastic that when you turn your head it makes plastic sounds so bad it drowns out what you are trying to hear inside the headset. Oh the settings for the great sound quality that is a joke own its own cause with all my volume settings maxed couldn’t hear barely anything,oh and yep just like i thought the plastic ring which holds the ear cup to the head band SNAPPED, look i will keep it short and sweet want to waste $80 go right ahead but this was the LAST turtle beach headset i will own. Pros : Its wireless Used On: Xbox One, PC

    Getting closer to primetime

Last night they worked great. Tonight it was cutting out several times per minute. I’m hoping there is a firmware update coming to fix this.!!!UPDATE!!! – 9-8-17After an email exchange with Turtle Beach’s customer service I learned that there is a firmware update for the headset. I was able to update this morning and it seems to be working much better, but I will provide an additional update in a few day to let everyone know if this seems like a long-term fix. Even after the update it cut out occasionally, but was much more stable. If you live in a very noisy WiFi location, these may not be for you. They are very susceptible to radio interference.!!!UPDATE!!! – 9-10-17I used the headset some more over the weekend and found a few things of note. On a fresh charge, it works great. After a few hours, performance starts to degrade. My couch is about 10 feet from my Xbox and TV. If I sit in line of sight of the Xbox, without the coffee table in between, it stays connected for the most part with a few dips in connectivity due to interference. If I sit with the coffee table in between, it dips more frequently. If I sit closer to the Xbox, say about 6 feet away, it stays rock solid stable 99.999% of the time. Perhaps it is time for a gaming bean bag so I can sit closer. All issues aside, when they are working the sound performance these offer is incredible. This would be 5 star if there were no issues. This would be 1 star if the sound wasn’t as good as it is. I’m hoping a few additional tweaks to the firmware make these even better over the next few months. Until then, I am going to try to be patient. I will post again after the next firmware update.!!!UPDATE!!! – 9-14-17 – firmware 2.1.3For the last few days I have been connecting my headset to my laptop to see if the Turtle Beach Hub application has a new firmware. Tonight, I was rewarded for my diligence. For some reason you have to pair your headset with your Xbox each time the firmware is updated. Anyway, already the performance is better. I haven’t had a single interruption in the audio in the first 20 minutes of watching Netflix. If you followed up to this point you will also like to know I sat as far back on my couch as I could to see if the audio stayed stable. So far, so good. I’ll report back in a few days.!!!UPDATE!!! – 9-23-17So, it has been just over a week since the firmware update to version 2.1.3. This week was much more enjoyable with a much more stable connection. Battery power still has a bearing on how stable the connection is, but I have gone 8+ hours without any problems. On the other side of the coin, being wireless, they are subject to interference in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrum so this can result in random connectivity issues even under ideal situations. They will never work 100% of the time, but they are comfortably working at 99% of the time for me now. Also, the sound seems richer than any of my previous headphones due to the Windows Sonic Surround Sound. A tap of the power button turns on Super Human Hearing, and a tap of the function button toggles between 4 different EQ modes. A native Xbox One app to control the finer details would not go amiss. But I expect that we will see one shortly if Turtle Beach continues down this road.RESULT: I can now safely recommend these with the minor caveat that a little but of patience will serve you well. The sound quality alone is worth it.

Works great until it the cheap plastic cracks…..and it will

I purchased this for the ease of use connecting to the xbox directly without any adapters or wires. I read the reviews about the cracking plastic and thought it was due to user abuse. My set was adult used and cared for. It started separating about 2 months after purchase while only being used about 3 times a week. When contacting Turtle beach about the issue they claimed I had an “accident” and were unwilling to replace the headset. Furthermore, they can’t fix it either. “I’m very sorry for any inconvenience; we don’t offer paid repair service.” The headset does connect easily and does produce good sound after you adjust your settings. However, it’s just not built to last and you will inevitably end up with an glued/electrical taped up mess or worse yet…a useless pile of plastic. For $100+ I expect more from the product and the company backing it, look elsewhere.

    Worth every penny.

Hardware: No issues whatsoever with connection, as others have mentioned. Setup was a breeze – it was already up to date when I hooked it up to my computer to make sure everything was running smoothly. Took about 20 seconds to connect to my xbox, and now it’s connecting with no issues every time I boot up the xbox. Micro USB cable included is sturdy and of good quality. Connection lasts 2+ rooms away with no issues, and it is a Godsend to not have to gently wrestle cords out of my cat’s mouth anymore or suffer through sound cutting out every other moment due to tiny teeth damage.Sound: Everyone’s been saying that I sound more “me” with this headset. I have noticed that I hear myself though a bit when I talk, as in I can hear my own voice being played back through the headphones. It’s not extreme, just not what I’m used to. The mic is quite sensitive, so it picks up a lot of sound and doesn’t have a wide range of customizability (ie. moving a flexible wire mic boom so your party can’t hear you heavy-breathing or chewing God knows what). HOWEVER. The simple flip back of the mic boom to mute it is really, really nifty. I also LOVE how you can manually adjust the chat and game volumes on the back of the left ear even while in the middle of a game – it’s so simple and easy. The range is perfect. It’s definitely my favorite feature as I tend to adjust a lot. I hated having to use the horrid xbox menu. The FEELS: I have a pretty average sized head and very sensitive ears. Let me tell you it is AMAZINGLY comfortable. I could wear this thing for hours and hours. Usually headsets or headphones of any kind will be uncomfortable after a while, but not these. The top cushion is soooo soft and cushy while the ear pads are firm enough to block out sound without being too chunky. I no longer hear my husband’s farts twice when we’re gaming – once from the office and again picked up on his headset… now I only hear his fart once, clear as day, through this excellent update to my gaming experience. I’ll miss those double-toots, but I won’t miss my old crappy wired headset for a second. For the price, this is a steal. You’ll be hard pressed to find something that works, sounds, and looks this great for any less.

Don’t do it. Not worth it.

I’ve had Turtle Beach headphones since the X51’s, so it really hurts to write this, but these are that bad. Bought the Stealth 600’s to replace a pair of XO 7 Pros that I slept on and broke. The XO 7 Pros we’re dope as hell. I thought for this price, these would have been comparable. They’re not. Something at some point must have happened with quality control. These are a similar price, but nowhere near what they used to build. Sound quality, when it’s not cutting out, is good, but they’re constantly cutting out, to the point that I wish I could wire them to my controller. Friends can’t hear me say anything from the mic when playing, I have to pretty much yell, and the actual build of these things is straight up weak. Flimsy. There’s something bouncing around in my left earpiece as I write this. After many years of nerding, and being very happy with everything that came from Turtle Beach, I really can’t say that I’d recommend these things to anyone. Nowhere near the quality they used to have. Overpriced and nowhere near worth it. I’d take a decent wired pair for half the price and be happier.

    Excellent!

I wanted to add a review of this product because the reviews seemed so mixed. I purchased these on 1/15/18 and am reviewing on 1/22/18. As soon as I received these cans I hooked them to my Mac and updated the firmware and allowed them to fully charge (green light). I then hooked them to my Xbox One X as I would an Xbox controller. Since that time I have not had one single issue with them. No disconnects, no low sound, no dead time, no cutting out, no popping….just a great experience. Are they $150 bucks?? No. I have never owned a set of headphones that pricy so I can’t compare. Compared to my Polk Audio Striker Contract Editions they sound as good or better and no wires! The mic monitoring is great, and works better then the above mentioned pair. The fact these don’t have noise cancellation is evident, especially when the wife fires up the mixer in the background while gaming….but they were $80 bucks. And Turtle Beach said the 600’s don’t have this feature so I was not expecting it.The complaints about distance and disconnects…never seen it. Multiple rooms, literally all over my house never had a disconnect. Regularly sit 15 feet from the Xbox.I can hear people (in game) around me while gaming as good or better then before. The audio controls on the back of the cans do hit my couch if I slouch….but it’s nothing a piece of tape won’t fix if I’m having a bad posture day. I purchased these on an open box item from Amazon. They arrived with no box damage and the silica pack still inside (along with everything else. I have used them daily for the last week and only charged once…not because they needed it, but because I wanted them to last for my next session with no issues. I could not be happier with this purchase!

    Great affordable wireless Gaming Headset

I wanted to leave a review about these because they are all so mixed and do not really give you a good idea of the performance of the accessory. A little background… I’m an old school gamer that just upgraded to the present day. My last purchased system was a PS3 2nd iteration and I hated it because the PSN sucked. That experience really turned me off of Online Gaming and honestly video games in general. I’ve been an owner of many great systems including: Atari, NES, SNES, Gamecube, Wii, PS1, PS2, PS3. I had never really played Xbox with anyone for longer than one sitting and when I did I couldn’t adapt to the controller. Fast forward to present day and I now own an Xbox One S. Let me tell you why I wanted that version and not the Xbox One X. I bought the PS3 right when it was released and after they “fixed” the overheating issues. This model had less hookups than the original release version, but was mostly the same. That system was nothing but problems. So why not get a PS4 or PS4 Pro. Honestly, I love the new games and the classics. The versatility of the Xbox One S drew me because you can not only play older version games, but can also use all Xbox accessories. I just bought a low end 4k UHD TV and I’ve really been able to appreciate the better graphics. I also have a surround sound so it was quite an upgrade. When I was looking for new headphones I wanted something that fit well, sounded great, and performed. These headphones do all of that. Xbox Wireless Technology worked perfect. Easy setup. I upgraded the Firmware first before I ever hooked it up. Pairing was a snap. I recommend paying the extra for Dolby Atmos because it sounds great. I watched the review saying that the sound was too low and I disagree, it’s perfect. There are 4 presets which all sound good for different needs. The Superhuman Hearing is more treble and mid range for sure (I know this because I’m a guitarist as well), but has less bass response. I prefer the 2nd mode for general gaming, but would probably use the Superhuman Hearing for FPS games. They stay connected and charged for a long time. My system has the modem about 15 feet away from the system with a wireless connection. I’ve read that many people had connectivity issues if the modem was too close. They are very versatile and I think they fit my head fine. The fold flat feature is nice too. I was looking for a nice headphone at an affordable price and I think these were just what I wanted. They are basically the better version of the Turtle Beach XO Four wired headphones. Wound definitely recommend these. Just a final note, you do need to reduce the volume of the TV or Surround system to game silently and only hear it in the headphones. I did not know this when I first used them so I thought I’d put it out there if this is your first time using them like it was for me. I hope you can find this review helpful in making a decision.
