It’s OK… but has several imperfections. EDIT… don’t look here.

First, I bought 2 and this applies to both. The feel is like an old style keyboard… and if that’s your thing (I was thinking it was for me) that’s OK. But, after using modern keyboards and laptops for years…this just feels *old* and not good like I had expected. The keys are nice, but the entire keyboard is too tall to be comfortable. They keys are tall and they are high off your tabletop. The backlighting was a draw too- as my office at night needs backlit keys to be viewable easily. However, the light bleed around the keys themselves is significant which takes away from dimly lit letters… it makes the feature barely work. It’s better than no backlight, but not by much. Also, the keyboard flexes in the middle with little pressure. You can watch it flex as you type. It doesn’t not work, but it doesn’t make you feel like it’s a quality product. Overall there are no major issues to this keyboard, but at the low cost… it is probably a product I will replace and not use… even though both are brand new and work. These purchases were a mixed bag for me. It’s left me still looking for a new keyboard…EDIT: The longer I use this, the less I like it… I have decided I really dislike everything about this product. It feels cheap, it flexes and the ergonomics are terrible. It’s not worth a replacement and not better than most $9,99 keyboards at your local box store. The LEDs change at random and mean you have to Google how to fix.. which sucks and is time consuming and turning the feature off doesn’t help. I have 2 and they both are exactly the same. Would not recommend or buy again.EDIT 2: After really trying to use this for awhile. I finally fixed it. By smashing it to bits. And then breaking it in half. Worst product I have ever bought on Amazon.

I really DO like this keyboard but…

I really do like this keyboard. It’s attractive, it does EVERYTHING it’s supposed to do, and it feels okay on your hands as you type (even though it is not designed to be an ergo-dynamic model). But the keys SNAP RIGHT the hell OFF!! The function keys at the top sit up almost like a snail’s eye stalks (okay maybe not THAT bad but almost) and although the keys feel secure whilst typing if you happen to tap the keyboard accidentally, say against a mug of coffee, you risk one, two, or more of the keys snapping right off the board. I am a very light handed typer and am NOT banging away at the board. I’m not even losing keys while typing. I really wasn’t going to review the product at all let alone address this issue but right before this review I was using the keyboard to place an order on Ebay when my t-shirt snagged on two of the function “eye stalk” keys (F5 and F6 as seen in photo) snapping them right off like peanut brittle! I even tried to glue one back on that snapped off earlier last month (stupid I know) but it stayed on for one week then snapped right back off again! I wish for once I could buy something and it not just LOOK okay but be made out of quality plastics, resins, and metals. It seems that cheap materials are all there is to look forward to nowadays… : (4 stars for function and on time shipment arrival… oh and the colors are pretty. Just treat it like glass because it fractures like it. I NOW need a new keyboard since I am missing three keys.

    Surprisingly good for the price

Normally, when you purchase a keyboard of this price point, your expectations are pretty low because you know what to expect. However, paying under $20 for a LED backlit “Mechanical” feel keyboard? Impossible. No way. Can’t be done. That is, until Rii comes in with their awesome keyboard that fits that description. Sure, there are many on the market right now, but, this is probably the best deal you’re gonna get.Granted, I think the LEDs are gimmicky but at the same time, kinda cool. I have a feeling that this will come in handy at night, so we’ll see how that goes. I literally just got the product at the time of this review, so we’ll also see how this thing performs later on compared to a regular keyboard. If you are expecting the same experience as a true mechanical keyboard, you will be somewhat disappointed. However, if you want the feel and look of one, this is about as close as you can get with a membrane style keyboard. It took a little time to get used to, especially with the enter key placement and shape, but that’s just my only small complaint. I like the colors that it has, but having white as an option might have been a better bet.

… to use at work thinking it would be a fun, colorful conversation piece and that it probably wouldn’t …

I bought one of these 8 months ago to use at work thinking it would be a fun, colorful conversation piece and that it probably wouldn’t last long considering the price. I enjoyed it so much and it held up so well that 3 months ago I bought another one to replace my expensive gaming keyboard at home. This keyboard is awesome! I love the feel of the key function, the rotating backlight, and the raised key feature for ease of cleaning. It performs as well as the gaming keyboard I had, and I enjoy the feel of the key function more for gaming as well. Both keyboards are still going strong with no issues. Lots of bang for your buck!

    Good LED keyboard

This is a great, bright, keyboard for it’s pricePros:-Bright lights-Good size-Nice feeling keys (although not really a mechanical feel)-Shortcut functions work greatCons:-Short USB cable-Change light key is too close to the right CTRL key and replaced the Menu key-The logo “Rii” is too big (I colored over it with a marker)By the way – FN+(light icon) makes it fade through the 3 colors.

    Backlit and responsive

18 bucks back lit and great key response. Can’t get any better. The keys are a touch large but I do so much gaming in the dark the back lit keys are soooo appreciated. I typed a test page and had zero issues.

    I love it!

I’m a gamer. And I love this keyboard. Not only does it look great. The light looks very cool. The keys aren’t sticky or hard to push. And it is light and compact. The price was also great thanks again.

    Great purchase.

bought this after trying another backlit keyboard from a manufacturer i really trust. sad to say, that one was a disappointment. i was skeptical about trying this one bcuz i had never heard of the company but it really ended up being a great purchase. extreme bang for my buck. the keyboard characters are large and bright when backlit and thats precisely what i needed. would definitely recommend this inexpensive option to anyone looking for a well lit keyboard with a small footprint. i hate keyboards with all that extra real estate like palm rests etc. this one is perfect.

An okay keyboard for general use in a dark environment low quality and low cost

This keyboard is low cost with illuminated keys in Red (default), Blue and Purple. The backlight is not on a LED per key basis, but appears to be via light plate behind the keys. The light plate is the key base and is painted black where the light shouldn’t come thru. The result is the baseplate is brighter than the key tops. The keys are not double shot, they are milky white (translucent) with black paint over the key. I guess the paint is then removed by laser or some other method. This means if you have oily fingers such as I do, or use some keys a lot, it is possible the black paint will wear off causing the area around the key characters to let out the backlight. I am thinking I may over spray the keyboard with clear polyurethane spray to extend the use of the keycaps longer. The key mechanism seems to be a standard membrane with a firm dome. It is not a true mechanical key. No click clack. However, due to the firm dome it takes a little more force to start the keypress, then once part way down the dome collapses. This gives a mechanical feeling to the keypress. The keypress is not loud, (no clicks or clacks) but maybe slightly higher in volume than a standard membrane keyboard. The keys on this keyboard have a high profile. This means if you are used to using a laptop or wireless keyboard with low profile keys, this keyboard will take some time getting use to.Overall – an okay low cost keyboard with backlight for occasional use. This keyboard seems pretty much exactly the same as the Mafiti keyboard (which is a little less $15 vs $17). Considering the cost, it is a good occasional use keyboard for the low cost $17.Pros: nice feel to the keys backlight selectable in a solid color default backlight is redCons: painted key cap characters which may wear off after some time backlight is brighter in some areas than others backlight is brighter behind the keys than on top.

    Good keyboard for the price.

I recently bought this keyboard and here are my thoughts on it:Pros:1. The keys have a really nice sound and feel to them and they aren’t too loud.2. I like that the keys are raised so dirt and hair can’t buildup as easily and it makes it easier to blow out and clean.3. The construction seems nice and solid.4. It looks really nice and it has an optional pulse light effect settings and brightness settings plus off setting.5. The edge of the keyboard is lit and it creates a beautiful ambient glow on my desk which is a main reason why I bought this.6. It doesn’t cost much.7. Good anti ghosting features for gaming and what not.8. The grips on the bottom are really grippy.9. It’s a pretty keyboard which is good in my book. It stays in place.10. Silver plated usb and it has decent shielding w/ ring for whatever that matters.Cons:1. The brightness isn’t too great. I think the max brightness should be at least double what it is. Although it should be adequate for most people, I fear after months or a year of use, the leds will dim and become useless for typing.2. The lighting isn’t even around the edge of the keyboard, for example, specifically the blue leds along the bottom edge are very dim to the human eye compared to the red and purple along the bottom, although taking a picture can’t prove this. Plus the top and side edges are nice and bright while the bottom edge is about only half the brightness as the top.3. The leds for caps lock, num lock, etc are an extremely annoying bright green. These should be a less bright blue or purple to match the keyboard color scheme. Also because of this they didn’t add blue or purple leds to the top right edge which is annoying and that takes away from the ambient glow effect this keyboard creates which also means the colors displayed in the pictures on amazon are not correct.4. The cord is more on the flimsy side but it’s not too bad and that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s of bad quality or weak and that may just be because it’s braided. In my experience, braided cords don’t last long.5. The edges are mainly lit with red and blue and some purple with very smal/l hints of other color unlike what they show in the photos. Conclusion: Overall, for the price I paid (about $22), this is a really solid and nice looking keyboard so I give it 4 stars. I recommend it.
