Immersed in a New York War Zone!

The Division is a very fun game to play, especially in co-op with your friends. If you enjoy playing RPG games like Fallout and Borderlands, then I HIGHLY recommend playing The Division. Like in Borderlands, most of the enemies you will encounter are the same level of difficulty that you are.The gameplay mechanics are very similar to Gears of War and GTA; the game is played entirely in third-person and you will need to utilize cover constantly in order to engage in combat effectively. Overall, the game can become increasingly difficult after level 5 or so, particularly during boss battles. Nevertheless, you feel very satisfied once you finally beat them. From my experience, the AI hostiles are fairly tough to beat if you don’t attack them in a coordinated manner (using cover, grenades, making call-outs to your teammates, etc).NOTE: Your weapons also have level that corresponds to them. If you’re a level 10 using level 5 equipment, you need to get rid of those weapons, buy/find new ones, and preferably modify them so that it inflicts maximum damage.A list of pros:*VERY immersive gameplay experience – the gun battles are rigorous and you actually feel as if you’re in a war zone in NYC. I have never had an experience like this when playing other games like CoD.* Fast-traveling (The map is huge, and there is also the option of fast-traveling to your friends even if they’re miles away from you).*Tons of content – In addition to the main quest, there are numerous side missions and encounters to be completed.*Gameplay difficulty is balanced – I never thought the game was too easy or too hard (it can be a little frustrating sometimes, but I would say it’s about 95% balanced)*Ability to customize your appearance, modify weapons, armor, etc.*Ammo crates – I’m very stingy about resource availability and it’s preposterous to go into any battle unprepared; fortunately, there are plenty of ammo restock crates located in safehouses and in the vicinity of your currently active quest.A few cons about the game that I think can be overlooked:*OCCASIONALLY, there are times when enemies spawn BEHIND you, which I found to be very irritating when you’re on the verge of completing an objective and get killed spontaneously. Hopefully, the developers fix this issue in the near future.*The visual quality and the graphics are a bit disappointing for a game of this caliber. Textures including your character appearance, buildings/skyscrapers, the streets, and sidewalks appear granular and not fully-defined; on the other hand, I find that the mediocre graphics are easy to ignore in the midst of a heated gun battle (and there are LOTS of them).*MOST weapons, (without any modifications) have recoil. This is a nuanced critique. On the one hand, ARs and other weapons exhibit recoil; however, there are ways to minimize this effect by using compensators and other mods. On the other hand, this fact does make the game more challenging and realistic to play, unlike other FPS games where the gun has little to no kickback.*I found myself to be cleaning out my inventory frequently throughout my sessions. Your backpack has a carrying capacity, which does increase as you progress in the game, so you can either sell your obsolete items at a vendor in safehouses or manually dismantle it from your inventory.*This game is 100% online and you need to create an account (with Ubisoft I think) in order to actually play it.Overall, The Division is very exciting, the gameplay is immersive, and there is so many places to explore while doing quests, side missions, and miscellaneous tasks as you traverse the post-apocalyptic streets of New York City!

Great, almost entirely minus a few hiccups

I am sure you have heard about this game from your friends and family. For the most part I would agree with all of the positive reviews on this game. The campaign (main story) is fantastic. I got really into & stayed into until I finished off all of the areas. The co-op is also very good, doing the dailies was always fun! The Dark zone can be intense and fun, however it as a lot better when they had more penalties for the guys who spend the whole time going Rogue. I would give this game a 5 star review, but the first add-on was super weak & they need to make the lift zone in DZ a no kill zone for PvP. Nothing worse then having a pack full of gear, get 2 seconds away from attaching it & then having some idiot steal your stuff. Otherwise, huzzah!

    PVE is Good

I’m a bit late to the party, but I like the PVE side of this game. As of writing this, I’m level 16. It has taken some learning as not everything is laid out for you in a way that allows you to know how to do certain things. I do have fun running around the city and doing random missions. On the PVP side, the Darkness Zone, has been annoying. I’ve played it for about an hour. I’m typically solo in this game since most of my friends either already played or don’t plan to. The DZ is not great running alone. I doubt I’ll step foot back into the PVP until I’ve run out of PVE content. It’s not a bad game, but it could use some further tweaks than what it’s already received.

Its not a bad game. It relies heavily on online multiplayer and isnt designed really to be single player. This makes the game very difficult unless you are playing with friends. Levels are very long and it is difficult to maintain a group for such extended periods of time. Game is fairly entertaining but it really puts a damper on game play when you constantly have to rematch with other players.

    The Division

Very good game but also hard you better be level up pretty good when you go into some areas other wise you will pay the price of dieing very quickly it’s best to do all of the side missions first before moving on and doing some of the missions over to get better this is not a forgiving game if you run into some areas the enemies there will make you pay for it over all its really good but you have to spend some time playing it

(Eventually) one of the best games in this console generation (after it got patched to hell)

Not only is the gameplay fixed now….. its really really good. Addictive good.If your PVP that is well done, if your story person like myself you can literally play this for weeks finding recordings and other little tidbits of fun information. Oh and its gorgeous!!!! You literally can walk around checking out the sights at NYC. Walk the highline, walk around the outside of GCT,stroll down 42nd into the darkzone…….. its seriously great to just check out the city. The story is also strong, its better than the book (yes I got it also), but also ties in nicely with the book. There are the odd bugs out there still, but you soon get over it.New players, keep in mind – THIS IS RPG not shoot em up….. when you approach your first enemy take your time in hiding from them in cover and shooting over the cover. Otherwise you will die, a lot!

Tom Clancy games are the best

Awesome game! Unlike any other game I’ve played The Division is an open world concept where you can roam freely and do side missions solo. Or you can complete missions with other players online. I like that your fighting together as apposed to against each other. It’s fun working towards rebuilding the city and leveling up. There is also an area of the city called the dark zone where players do fight against each other for bigger upgrades. The map is huge and split up by certain sectors that are controlled by different gangs you will encounter. On the map it shows what level you should be at to go there. You can go to any area you want but some are pretty challenging. However you will level up faster by doing just that. Get a crew of people online and go at it together.

    Wasn’t great for me

    – Game play is rough and difficult controlling so many abilities.I feel like they tried to give to many skills and made it to complicated rather than a simple one or 2 extra items to use besides your weapons.- The content they want you to do is forcing you to group up however not everyone is doing the same content. There are chances you’ll be stuck waiting for someone to join your group. Not allowing people to solo events keeps you from enjoying the content.- I had a hard time getting into the story which wasn’t making me want to play it more.* PRO – If you’re going to already play this with friends you know and schedule time for it I’m sure you’ll have a better time than me.

Don’t play this alone, only designed for social players

Don’t have enough words or time to tell the truth about this game. Gameplay is clunky, your character can’t shoot worth a crap, even an SMG gives them a hard time recoil wise. Ever play COD? Imagine EVERY SINGLE ENEMY you fight has the same amount of health as the Juggernaut. Ever play HALO? Imagine the same, but with Hunters. Seriously, your dude is weak and pathetic, yet your supposed to be a high level government agent. If that’s the case, then how come even a common looter has better weapons and armor than you? But I digress… DON’T BUY if you’re a lone wolf. NDGMW, you CAN play by yourself, but it is SO unfair if you do. You know what? Go ahead and buy it, find out for yourself. You’ve been warned.

    Not perfect, but fun

Fun with friends. Gets a little dull when you’re on your own. Otherwise a decently designed, solid new franchise. Loot-hunting is similar to something like Destiny, but much more rewarding, as there’s less crappy pickups than in that other game. Also, the class-system and customization is much deeper, particularly in terms of weapon attachments and armor modifications, not to mention crafting. Some game bugs occur, sound voices (like gunfire) sometimes go blank for a time, and you get the odd game-crash here and there. When the game crashes though, it saves your progress on the server, so when you reload it puts you right back where you were, which is nice at least. Not perfect, but the graphics otherwise stay mostly consistent.I’d say this is a promising start for a new franchise, sequels could use a little polish.
