The Campaign Is One Of The Best Of The Year

The first Titanfall quickly vanished from my radar because of the unfortunate decision to forgo a single player campaign. I’m sure online multi-player is great for those that enjoy it, but I’m not one of those people. It’s always a little saddening when a game that could have had a great story-driven campaign gets a mediocre campaign because the cost-benefit analysis caused development focus to shift to multi-player. I understand why it’s done, I just don’t like it. And when a game that looks as promising as Titanfall cuts the campaign entirely it’s disheartening but I just move on.Titanfall 2 isn’t doing so well sales-wise, but from what I’ve seen that has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the game. I honestly think a lot of potential customers are in the same boat as myself and wrote off Titanfall as a strictly online multiplayer series. I didn’t even know the game had a campaign until two weeks after it released. If it hadn’t been for some compelling reviews of the campaign, I would never have bothered to check it out. I’m so glad I did.Titanfall 2 was one of the best games I played all year. The campaign was amazingly well done. I wanted to hug that damn robot before it was over. Super-tight controls, really fun movement abilities like the wall run, and those freakin’ sentient robots made it a great experience.Perhaps the saddest thing of all is that they totally fixed the Titanfall formula by adding such a well-crafted campaign, but the game hasn’t sold well at all. They’ll probably write off the new direction as a failure because the game did not perform as well as the first one, but in my opinion the second game is only hampered by the bad decision to leave a campaign out of the first game. How may other would-be customers skipped one of the best gameplay experiences of the year because they thought, like I did, that Titanfall 2 had no campaign? If you’re on the fence, don’t be. This game is worth the price of admission.

    Unbelievable

This game is absolutely amazing. After the first Titanfall, Respawn clearly listened to their community in changing rather large aspects of the game in order to make the game more enjoyable.1) There is now a single player campaign instead of a multiplayer only campaign. Not only that, but the storyline (at least to me) is on par with Halo.2) The tech test – there were quite a few things people didn’t like about the game during the tech test, and Respawn listened. The multiplayer is absolutely fantastic and the flow of multiplayer games is really smooth.3) DLC is no more – not to say that they are not adding any content to the game, because they are; the thing is it will all be free to everyone who has the game, so the community doesn’t get split up into people who have/don’t have a season pass.If you are on this page because you got Infinite Warfare and are upset – this is the game for you.

    Just a really fun game

I am really enjoying this game and I really didn’t think I would.I bought this game only for the single player campaign and because it was only 10 bucks on amazon and I am happily surprised by both the gameplay and story. Well, okay, I shouldn’t say the “story” is good, it’s just some Sci. Fi. B.S. Briefly, there’s a war or something going on and you are normally a rifleman that wants to be a pilot (of the big mechs called titans) and then becomes a pilot due to the death of the previous pilot (a promotion is a promotion, I guess). You then become responsible for finishing up the mission of another pilot that also died because the bar for pilot admission is apparently very low.The shooting is pretty good but, and this has been talked about before, the movement is the most fun. Pilots get these jump packs which allow them to do extended wall runs and double jumps and this turns every fighting area into a giant fun house. It also begs the question why wouldn’t…the…uh… “good guys” just give all their combatants the jump packs? Wouldn’t that mean your fighting force, titan or no, would be more effective? Just saying. Anyway, running around the map like a methed out squirrel is always fun, but I do feel that sometimes the movement feels a bit uncontrollable which makes going right where I want to go a bit tricky. Then again, I can’t imagine moving like that would be very controllable anyway. My only issue is that sometimes I get audio clipping when there is a lot of gunfire/explosions happening simultaneously. The only issue is that it can make locating gunfire difficult as I use headphones to help me locate enemies.Still fun and would heavily recommend to anyone that likes shooting stuff, sci fi, shooting stuff in sci fi, big robots, and defying gravity (so, basically, every kid ever).

    An Actual Review

The people below are mad because they were hoping to get their download before the game actually releases. Try those codes again during the release window and in the future, do not write a review for a product you haven’t played. Reviews are for reviewing, not whining. I got an early relase copy of this game and I have to say it is AMAZING! The multiplayer is fast and fluid but also at times slow and methodical. Well thought out balance between the mechs and the pilots, very tense gameplay. A cut above the original release for sure, I look forward to playing for a while to come!It should be noted that if you are looking for coop, this is not your game. Single player campaign is solid and fun and multiplayer is why this game is developed but no coop at all.

Great campaign, great multiplayer, free DLC. Amazing game.

This is not only one of the best FPS titles i’ve played in a long time, it’s one of the best games. I was caught totally off guard by how much I enjoyed this game. It takes everything that was good about TF1 and expands and fine tunes it. They even added a full single player campaign/story mode that is actually fantastic. Then of course the addictive multiplayer. So easy to jump and start learning, as most if it will feel very familiar to the average FPS player. But the mechanics and features are complex enough that you have room to explore whats possible and really master getting around. It’s just so fluid, responsive and reliable. Momentum is your friend here, and so are the various gadgets you can choose from. Like the newly added grappling hook which when used properly in conjunction with jumps and wall runs can propel you across the entire map, if you know what you’re doing. Or at least yank yourself out of the way from a stomping Titan coming your way. The guns are all fun to learn and have their own clear strengths and weaknesses. There is a good amount of customization for your pilot and your own Titan, but if I had to ask for one thing it would be more visual customization to our appearance, other than just camo paint jobs. Depending on what class/ability you go with, your pilots gear changes, and then you customize the paint job over that. Not to mention.. FREE DLC! No paying $40-50 for a season pass just to get content that should have been in the final product anyways.. they are giving all DLC at no cost through out the year. That is amazing. All in all, this game is a breath of fresh hair and I couldn’t be more excited to stick with this franchise and see where it goes.

I was so excited to try this game.

I might be an old lady, but I love my video games. I’ve played a ton of them (all the Bioshocks, Uncahrteds, Assassin’s Creeds, Mass Effect, the Wolfensteins…) and I’m not going to win any tournaments but I’m definitely not the crappiest player out there, either. Titanfall looked amazing and I was dying to play it, but online multiplayer is just not for me. So I was so happy to find out Titalfall 2 had a single-player mode…until I played it. 🙁 The world is expansive and gorgeous and the story seems engaging, but OMG all the freaking parkour crap did me in. I played (and replayed and replayed) the first section of the first half of the first on-world scenario and gave it up. The control for the constant wall-jumping garbage was so inconsistent and ENDLESS that I wanted to hit a developer with my controller. It was absolutely maddening. And my hands were unbelievably sore the next day from trying so hard to nail it.I’m glad a lot of people enjoyed this game, but if you struggle with this sort of thing (like I usually don’t!) just be aware it’s a PITA. Ugh.

Love this Game! Great Controls that rewards you as you get better! Can’t wait for more maps!

First of all the map design is much better then COD:IW. I love the variety of weapons in TF2 enough to fit any play style without feeling like the same weapon. A lot more options in the full game versus the Beta weapons, titans, perks, boosts, and more. I delayed picking this game up at release due to just buying BF1 WW1 since all my friends were buying that and I knew Titanfall 2 would probably have a great price near Black Friday. Of course I was right and found Titanfall 2 for 30.00. Also another nice thing about TF2 all DLC that contains new maps and such will be free to all. Only thing the will be charging for will be skins and such. The campaign is rock solid and a typical length of 5-6 hours campaign for most FPS games. The campaign gives you a lot of opportunities to experience weapons, titans, and wall running. TF2 MP does have a fairly high skill cap, which is another reason to play the campaign before you jump straight into MP. As a ps4 owner I would love to see them remaster all the TF1 maps as I have read from multiple players how great they were.

A thrill a second for gamers who can’t spare very many minutes.

This is seriously my favorite game at the moment. The original improved on the genre in every way. Even losing was fun as you rushed to the escape ship. The sequel improves even further and adds a single player which is up to Call of Duty standards, but who cares this Multi is the best!Plot is honestly irrelevant. You are essentially a space ninja in a buddy comedy with a Transformer. That is just as fun as it sounds. You feel like a ninja as you parkour across the map to yank batteries out of rival mechs and get them back to your own teams. Then you call down your own and start plowing through enemies both human and AI.The AI baddies in multi are great because even if you can’t hold your own among your human rivals you can still help your team and gain some XP. You don’t have to invest Disgaea levels of time in this. It’s deep enough, but if you can only spare five or ten minutes you will still have a fun round and walk away happy. You HAVE to buy this game. Seriously.

    Just an all-around fun shooter

If you liked Titanfall, get Titanfall 2. If you liked Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, get Titanfall 2. If you liked Black Ops 3, get Titanfall 2. If you like fluid, fast-paced, balanced gameplay, get Titanfall 2. If you like a DLC model where once you buy the initial game, you are entitled to all later expansions, get Titanfall 2. If you do not want weapons put behind a paywall, get Titanfall 2. If you like Mech combat, get Titanfall 2. If you like First Person Shooters, get Titanfall 2.Respawn really hit a homerun with this game. It caters to multiple groups of people and does it in a pricing model that respects gamers without nickel and diming them. All the guns feel balanced, Titans are a blast, and the maps are top-notch. It sounds like I was making a joke in the beginning, but really, if you like any of those categories, you will like Titanfall 2.

    A very pleasant surprise

I’m usually a person who plays rpgs such as dark souls or the witcher. I rarely decide to take a leap of faith and dive into a fps. I thought this game looked generic at first. It has these mech type things they call titans (a la pacific rim), and the first titanfall was exclusive for xbox, and seemed like it lacked the character that many other games have – there wasn’t anything particularly interesting about the world or characters from what I saw in the ads. After seeing positive critical reception, when I saw this game on sale, I decided to take a chance and bite. Man am I glad I did.The gameplay is fantastic. The wall running is super fluid and easy to get used to. The controls are super tight. The titans feel perfect when you are controlling them. This game just feels so right – it kind of reminds me of how perfect the first Halo felt when I would sit around the living room playing that with friends (ok, I’m old). The campaign is actually super fun and engaging while I expected it to be a throwaway they just put in there. It’s very exhilarating and my heart is racing the entire time. The graphics are top notch and possibly the best I have seen on ps4. I am just playing on a regular ps4 on 1080p, so no 4k for me. But the game looks stellar.I am looking forward to diving into the multiplayer as I am really enjoying the campaign and will replay it a few times to really let it all sink in.Even if you don’t regularly go for fps games, do yourself a favor and give this one a chance. You won’t be sorry.
