Great product, not perfect, but still deserves 5 stars not 4.

Ok, so looking at reviews i purchased with a bit of hesitation. I did not want to be dealing with disconnecting issues, or similar problems. I am happy to report that i have yet to have these issues (knocks on wood) in the three weeks I have been using these.Reception:I will say dongle placement is VERY important for range on these. It seems that giving the dongle as much open area results in much better results. I have found putting it in my front panel USB on my NZXT S340 elite, white is on the top of the tower. When the dongle is in this position the range is actually as good, or better than any other wireless headphones I have ever used.Microphone:The microphone is absolutely phenomenal. It sounds better than the Mod Mic wireless, and better than almost any wired “gaming” headset I have ever used, and is on par with my gold standard the Sennheiser game one, which is wired so that is VERY impressive.Build:The build quality on these headphones is phenomenal. Some complain that these feel “cheap”, but that is because these are insanely light, which is AMAZING. A heavy headset like several competitors at logitech, hyperx, etc gives you fatigue, and with these i almost forget I am wearing them. I love the industrial look, but like others the only weak spot on the build for me is the exposed wires, but this is more of a minor complaint.Sound:These headphones sound great. Are they grade A. audiophile headphones? No, but you bought a wireless HEADSET. This means that fidelity was never going to be AS good as a wired HEADPHONE. These are tasked with driving the drivers, and the microphone, all while being wireless. When you look at it from that perspective, these are phenomenal. The have great bass, solid mids, and good highs. The surround is essentially a EQ setting in my opinion where the bass is reduced and the highs and mids are amped up. I never used the “virtual” surround on any headset/headphone, so for me its unimportant.Comfort:These headphones are comfortable, but this is subjective so you will really need to try to be sure. The cans are based off of the ATH-M50’s i understand, and those do not fit me well, because the ear cups are too small. However these ear cups fit me perfectly, and seal well, but also breath and don’t cause sweating or itching, because of the fabric which actually contacts your skin. The lightweight build, and fantastic ear pads make this a VERY, VERY, comfortable headset.Pros:Great sound for wirelessEXCELLENT microphone qualityExtremely comfortable and lightweight.Cons:Exposed wires.I recommend positioning the dongle in as open a space as you can, when doing this i had no issues with connectivity, and these have fast become the best headset I have ever owned. With almost any and all “Gaming” headsets you are compromising, but with these you simply don’t have to, and that justifies the price. Great headset!

    Almost the PERFECT headset

I used this headset for about a month, but I eventually returned both pairs (exchanged one before, because of audio cutting in and out), but this audio cutting in and out happened on my replacement pair as well. I found out that it only happened when I had the USB dongle plugged into a USB Hub, when it was plugged into my PC directly there wouldn’t be a problem. The reason I say this is almost the perfect gaming headset is because it uses fast 2.4ghz wireless, very good sounding mic considering it being a “wireless” headset. I’d argue that it sounds better than the GSP670 from Sennheiser, and it’s probably one of the best sounding mics on any wireless gaming headset. However I wish they just removed the 7.1 surround sound, and used that R&D money else where. Maybe hide the cables on the band? Or perhaps, develop software for the headset? If they make a 2nd revision of this headset, and fix some of the issue’s I’ve had with the headset. I’d love to give it another try, because once you go wireless it’s VERY hard to go back to wired. I eventually went back to a wired pair of Audio Technica gaming headsets, but if you’re in the market for this. I HIGHLY recommend picking up the suede brainwavz earpads. They make the headphones sound better, and give it even more comfort.Oh and another thing I really loved was the monitoring feature they added. The one thing I hated about the HyperX Cloud Flight is there was no side-tone or monitor feature for your mic, and for closed back headsets having a sidetone or monitor feature is a godsend. However this brings me back to wishing it had software, so you can control the volume of your sidetone.Overall, if you’re looking for a gaming headset that has the sound quality, and mic quality.. Go for these, as currently there isn’t much on the market that’ll sound as good, and make you sound as good.

Very comfortable, incredible sound, and a really high quality mic!

This is my first audio-technia headset, but I’ve always heard good things about the company and now I know why. I’ve used many, many wireless gaming headsets over the years. The best offerings from Logitech, Steelseries, Razer, and Corsair have absolutely nothing on this headset.Normally with a gaming headset I have to launch their crappy proprietary software and set up an equalizer profile to get decent sound. Not so with this headset. This headset doesn’t even have software, as far as I can tell. But it doesn’t actually need it. The sound out of the box is far and away better than anything I could achieve with the other headsets equalizers. Not having to rely on garbage software is an absolute dream. The 7.1 surround sound is actually good. Every other headset it made everything sound tinny and like you were in a large empty hall. This is the first headset that I actually keep surround on all the time, even when listening to music!Battery life is good, nothing incredible, but I haven’t yet had the headset die on me and I have been putting these things through the paces. I estimate 10-15 hour battery life. The microphone is superb for a gaming headset. It is genuinely close to dedicated desktop mics you’d use for streaming (the lower end to mid-range ones) When I hopped in Discord my friends were just blown away. They all told me my voice sounds amazing and they have never once heard me so clearly. And these are the same people I spent a lot of time talking to through equally expensive headsets from the likes of Steelseries, Logitech, Corsair, Razer, etc. These are very comfortable too. They’re fairly light weight. MUCH lighter than my last Corsair headset (Corsair Void Pro Wireless). The mute / volume / power controls are all in good spots and easy to use. The microphone disconnects from the headset for traveling or storing. They also come with a spare set of spare ear cups!I can’t recommend this headset enough. Whether you are gaming, listening to music or watching movies this headset should leave you very happy.

    Shines when it functions!

I will be moving onto my third pair of G1WL soon once second pair is now returned but it has been a mixed bag but I love it enough to give it another chance. The first pair would disconnect every 1-3 seconds and cut off so I did exchange and the replacement pair, while it cuts off (With no 2.4ghz items in this house mind you besides the microwave and any neighbor wifi interference) once in a blue moon it was never as horrid as the first. Tonight after using the headset normally and placing it on my desk, when I went to use them again after an hour instead of connecting to the receiver it has started to make a horrid pulsing noise and just outright quit working… two and a half weeks, that is not okay Audio Technica not okay.Asides from that the rest of it has met my expectations and I really wish It would just work! Then I could happily recommend them. The fit and everything else about them is what i’ve wanted. The only other nitpick is the alert sounds…I am honestly fearful for when they get low because it pierces your soul. It is one of the harshest needlessly loud and shrill alert sounds ever put in a headset and they need to change that.

    Terribly disappointed

I’ve used these headphones for about 8 hours, and I’m pretty disappointed.. I had really high hopes for this headset. I’ve known Audio Technica to be one of the best for headphones, but I just can’t find a way to enjoy these. I don’t think they make many wireless ‘gaming’ headsets, so maybe their next versions will be better.Pros:LightweightPlug and playNo software to mess withGreat micCons:Horrible rangeSound QualityNot as comfortable as I had hopedSo many buttons, switches, and dials on one sideI’ll speak to the pros first. These things were awesome to plug in and get started with. No software and they felt pretty light on my head. First impressions were great. The mic quality was stupendous for a headset, and especially for a wireless one. Friend of mine told me I didn’t sound much different after talking through my Blue Yeti. But… these kind of things can be found in cheap headsets too.. so the cons took over. This headset comes with a USB receiver. I got up and walked into my hallway and it instantly cut out. 3 feet from the receiver but through a wall… yikes. My wife came up to me and stood between me and my PC to chat, and it cut out again… just somebody standing in the way. That’s not even the worst of it.. the sound quality is horrible. I am not much of an audio freak, but compared to my usual headset, these sounded terrible. I have a pair of Sennheiser RS 175s and they sound much better than these. The only thing that these had over my current headset was 7.1 virtual surround. That was kind of cool to hear for a little since I’ve never had 7.1 headphones before, but the quality was still so bad. Forget listening to music on these too. Sound is just not rich enough for me. After using them for about 3 hours I noticed that i started having some pain on the top of my head where the foam pad sits. I’ve had this issue in the past with many headsets, and it may just be that I have a large head, but I was hoping to find something that got rid of that issue for long sessions. My last complaint are the amount of buttons and switches on one ear cup. Just too much in that space. I would like to have seen some of them moved to the other side.Overview:I’m sure there will be people that really enjoy these, but I just can’t get over the sound quality and the range that this this headset offers compared to my current Sennheisers. $250 is a lot of money to invest in a headset, and I’ve had much better for cheaper. I will be returning these. Hope this helps.

    Audio Techinica knows Headphones!!

Amazon knows I have been trying a few headsets, all having personal flaws like fitment and comfort, sound, features and over quality of the the heatset. My main heatset were the Astro A50 Gen3’s, my volume dial is starting to act up and my headphoness are almost 2 years old, while very comfortable, top 3 as far as comfort, it had loosened overtime. It was time to look for a new a set of gaming headphones with good sound and comfort. After a few headsets, I almost gave up and just live with my finicky volume dial (i dropped it) and loose fitting headset. Caught wind of these new headsets from Audio Technica, M50x style headset with 7.1 surround sound and wireless!? I jumped on it and now that I have used it for a total of 4 hours, all I need to know for sure these are my new headsets. I use this for PC gaming and media and chat. For gaming, comfort is a must, those familiar with the m50’s, these fit just like that, nice ear cushions, you get an extra set!!! Fitment and clamping force is just right, build is great as expected from Audio Technica, metal band and solid adjustments. Sound, I am by no means an audiophile or qualified to give a detailed review on how it sounds. I know what I like, Highs and Mids are detailed for games, footsteps come in clean, bass is full and clean with some ummph…not overpowering at all. Surround sound works great as I am a big fan of this feature, this has been the best of the few I have recently tried. I use Dolby Atmos along side the built in surround feature, amazing spatial awareness and sound stage. Mic is works, clean and clear, not sure if this is noise canceling, it does have a pop filter.Pros:- Comfort!- Build Quality!- Sound!- Battery Life- Mic!Neg:- No easy battery indicator- Surround sound button is a beep on or off- No 3.5 passthrough for normal listening- No bluetooth for phone pairing (these sound amazing for music)

The Best wireless gaming headset I have ever had

These are probably some of the best performing wireless “gaming” headphone/set that I have ever used. They have excellent, Audio Technica quality sound (easily usable as a daily driver for audio and other non-game media consumption). A wide range of notes, with highs clear and lows powerful (if a little loose). The mic is pretty excellent as well, it doesn’t sound very compressed at all, although it does lose a little noise cancellation ability to achieve this, just doesn’t have a fan blowing right at you. The comfort is certainly passable, and I am able to wear them for very very long sessions straight (10ish hours easy). At first I thought them to be a little stiff and uncomfortable, but after just an hour or so on the first use my ears grew accustomed to them ( the initial discomfort may have been because I was coming from my HyperX clouds, the most comfortable headset ever made lol). The battery is decent, not sure the actual length but I get a few days of normal use out of them before I feel the need to set them on the charger. If you’re looking at any other wireless headset in this price range, I would definitely get this one over them

Audio-Technica let me down with these.

Sound was good, not great, just… Good. They feel very cheap, like $30 headphone cheap.Earcuffs feels good but does not put any pressure to your ears so hardly any noice cancelation. They are extremely light, probably the lightest I’ve ever felt. If you touch the wire or rub it on anything like your arm, desk, anything. You’ll hear it in your left ear. Speaking about the wire… 6feet! Really? Who backpacks there computer! If buying this for a computer, save time and pick up a 4 pole 3.5mm extension cable as well, You’ll need it.I had high expectations for Audio-Technica with these, I’ve owned several headphones by them and they were the best. Not in this caseMy personal opinion. Hyperx cloud alpha and Logitech G pro X headsets are better in every category.

    Perfect with minor improvements

Update: After a month of use, these seem to be disconnecting far too often for comfort and will be getting returned. While playing games today, there was about 15 disconnect beeps within a 10 minute window. I’m very disappointed, because I love these headphones. I will be trying the Corsair Virtuosos now… :(So, I’m looking for a wireless headset, with a Microphone for gaming. I was using a mic on a boom arm, but I don’t really stream and I wanted more quality from the Microphone. Candidates for this round of gaming headset were the Sennheiser GP370s, Astro A50s, the Mobius Audeze and these. Why I decided to go with Audio Technica: Microphone Quality over 2.4ghz. It is quite honestly unparallelled, according to reviews and listening to myself through Mic Recorder was fair. Moving away from the boom arm, there’s a lot of compression and my voice doesn’t sound as full, but really really restricted. In Discord, however it seems that my voice sounds the same. So much so that long time friends who I’ve gamed with for years didn’t even comment that it sounded different to them. That’s a pretty good win, imo.How I used them in games:Windows 10 Dolby Access app – Atmos for HeadphonesWhat’s Great:These headphones sound awesome. I’ve got Master and Dynamic MW60s, B&O H9is, Beyerdyanmic DT 880s, powered through a Scarlett Solo and the sound stage is different, but very very good for gaming and multipurpose. Music still sounds very very good, even though these drivers are tuning for games and positional audio. They’re incredibly light, and that’s awesome There’s no strain on my head from the 4-5 hour sessions I’ve had these on for. Sometimes, I feel like the quality and feel of these are so good that weSound isolation, passively, is very good. With them on, they almost feel non-existant.What’s Bad:There’s no software or decent application in the headphone. Why is this important? Your headphone beeps periodically, and there’s no indication why that is. There’s not a beep chart either. “Battery Low” or any software battery indicator would have been nice. There’s no USB extension / dock. If you don’t have a USB extension, this will likely take more than just one USB slot as the wireless receiver just a tad bit too wide.Plastics on the cups feels kind of cheap.7.1 surround sound mode is… lacking. The sound direction in stereo is better and the range feels much better. The range is awful. Sub 20 feet.Charging sucks, no USB C sucks. Please make a magnetic charger. (this could also be a plus, not a lot of add ons, lots of investment in the item rather than extras. Why didn’t I go with:Sennheiser GP370s – the Microphone is awful. The software has never had a decent review and I do not want that issue. They’re very “high” profile. I really liked the 100 hour battery life. I ended up purchasing a pair of GSP370s and though they had many things I wanted to try, I ultimately returned them. The GSP onboard adjustments were far superior, but lacked i’d say 15% of the spatial awareness the audio technicas had. The software wasn’t as bad as the reviews said on youtube, but wasn’t great. I will miss the noise gate! The microphone quality still was bad. Battery life, at 100 hours is awesome – but really unneeded. Consider that you’re not going to take them on the road or anything. The Audio Technicas are also significantly lighter, and have less clamping force. They also isolate less sound. The GSP370s are also not compatible with Dolby Atmos right now – which probably hurt them a lot.Astro A50s – wasn’t confident in the audio quality. Really liked the dock and that it was easy. Style was too gamery.Audeze Mobius – not a lot of reviews in BT 5.0 gaming and latency. Microphone sounded meh. Planar Magnetic is very tempting, however.

    sounds great when it works

TL;DR:These sound pretty good, are very lightweight, and seem comfortable, but can’t keep a stable connection even if I basically touch the USB receiver. Below review will go into some detail. First paragraph sets up context and some comparison to my other gaming setups. Skip to the second paragraph if you only care about these. So to start, some background information to give context to my review. I’m a casual audiophile with a decent mix of relatively-high-end headphones (Sennheiser HD700, Sennheiser/Massdrop HD6XX, AKG/Massdrop K7XX, Oppo PM-3, Bowers & Wilkins PX, Sony WH-1000XM3). When running wired gear I have the “Schitt Stack” external DAC/Amplifier to drive the headphones. However, I’ve been desperately trying to find a wireless gaming headset for the convenience of not being tied to my desk. I like to pace a bit around my room during downtime between matches and really appreciate the convenience of being able to get up to say get a drink without needing to take off the headset and stop chatting with friends on Discord. Unfortunately, I’ve tried (and been let down by) a few of the “high end” wireless game offerings. I first tried a pair of Logitech G930 Wireless back in 2015 but almost instantly gave up on those due to connection issues, extremely poor sound quality, and an exceptionally cheap, plasticky feel. I gave up on wireless after that for a couple years, using a mix of my regular wired headphones (mostly the Sennheiser HD700) with an Antlion ModMic strapped on. This worked quite well – *great* quality for both my audio and mic. However, I still kept wishing for the convenience of a full wireless setup… especially after swapping my daily-use Oppo PM-3 at work for a pair of Bowers & Wilkins P7 (that in turn were later replaced by the more comfortable Sony WH-1000XM3). I periodically came back to researching wireless gaming headsets but kept getting turned away by the mixed, or mostly bad, reviews. Eventually I found another one that seemed to be well rounded enough to be worth a shot – the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless. On paper these seemed nearly ideal… decent audio quality, low latency, 2 hot-swap batteries, and pretty good reviews. In fact, they’ve actually become my daily-driver gaming headset. Unfortunately, they still have 2 primary flaws that have me still looking for a replacement. 1) the comfort level really isn’t great, but more importantly 2) the build quality really is not very good. I hear plastic creaking noises that resonate through both ear cups every time I tilt my head. Considering that the primary reason I want wireless is freedom of movement, in practice this means nearly constant creaking noises. So I’ve continued looking. On paper these seem almost ideal. In fact, my very first intro to the audiophile world was via a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50x, so I really saw the potential for these and already had a high level of respect for Audio Technica. Unfortunately, those high hopes were cut down quite quickly. My initial impression was actually quite positive… these were *extremely* light. In fact, when I first picked up the Amazon box I thought they’d shipped the wrong thing…. there’s no possible way a wireless headset with all packaging was that light. It was though. I played with them for a bit, wearing them (while off) to see how they felt and moving around a bit looking for that plastic creaking that’s driving me insane on my Steelseries. I was impressed – they felt good and the build quality – while still heavily plastic dependent – seemed much better. So, I plugged them in to charge and waited. Once they were topped off as instructed, I plugged in the receiver and turned them on. Initial impression was also positive – these sounded pretty good. Not quite on the level of my wired Sennheiser pairs, but that’s to be expected… the DAC+AMP+headphones in that setup cost more than triple the cost of these wireless ones before even accounting for a mic setup. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. I noticed extremely quickly that I was having ~0.5-1 second cutouts in my audio every ~3-5 seconds. And this was just watching some TV via my in-home Plex server… I hadn’t even tried adding the additional bandwidth required by voice yet. I swapped between speaker/headset to ensure it wasn’t an actual audio/streaming issue, but only had problems when outputting to the headset. Thinking maybe this was due to power delivery issues to my on-desk USB hub, I tried moving the dongle to the front-panel ports on my case. No luck, still disconnecting every 3-5 seconds. I tried with a couple different ports on the back as well (USB2 and 3) but nothing helped. And this was all while sitting less than 2 feet from the wireless dongle. This is a fatal flaw. My Steelseries may be less comfortable and creak, but I can walk around my whole apartment without any cutouts unless I go to the dead opposite corner, and my apartment is old enough that there’s lead paint still on the walls, making it a far-from-ideal environment for wireless transmission. If I was only having transmission issues in the other room I’d still be using these over the Steelseries, but as-is these are completely useless. So, unfortunately I’ll be going back on the hunt for the perfect wireless gaming headset. Cost isn’t really a barrier… I’d be happy to pay $500+ for a wireless headset, assuming it meets *all* of my needs, but such a thing does not seem to exist. I’ll probably continue to use the Steelseries for now while I keep hunting.A few alternatives I’ve tried and/or considered (and why I didn’t use them)1. Steelseries Acrtis Pro Wireless – current daily drivers, but bad build quality (creaky plastic resonates)2. Logitech (any) – poor build quality, mediocre to bad audio quality3. HyperX (any) – poor driver quality4. Sennheiser GSP-370/670 – all reviews say they sound great but pros end there. uncomfortable and BAD software. also reports of connectivity issues5. Corsair (any) – poor driver quality6. Audeze Mobius – SO tempting, but they’re only *technically* wireless in that you can connect a device via bluetooth. all the “main” features actually assume a wired USB connection.7. Astro A50 Gen 4 – honestly may try these next. had a pair of wired A40s YEARS ago that were pretty decent, though their wireless ones seem to have mixed reviews
