    Excellent 4K Monitor

I’ve had this monitor for several months now and love it. It replaced an old 28 inch 1080p that became unusable for me for viewing text. I use it mainly for work all day, which consists of reading documents, web pages and working with web applications. I also use it to view and edit photos fairly often. The picture is excellent and text is sharp at native resolution with Windows set to 175%. There are no dead pixels or color/light bleed around the edges. It’s been the perfect step up solution to be productive all day and have an excellent display for pictures and video as well.My only gripe is that it does not have auto-detect for input so I have to manually change inputs every time I switch between my work and home laptops which is fairly often. This combined with a joystick control that has to be pressed up from the bottom to start is a bit of a pain. Also, I did mount it to an adjustable stand right away as I need it to sit low on my desk and most monitors that have an adjustable stand don’t go low enough.

LG Backlit lightbeed is very bad on these monitors

I received this in 1-day shipping, hoping that through shipping the monitor would be fine. Unfortunately, as soon as I powered it up, it had 3 corners with light bleed, so severe that brightness set to 0 – as seen in the pictures, the light bleed comes out very strong. LG is tightening the metal frame and screws to hard around the edge. I massaged the frame with pressure and was able to only eliminate the top right corner. The most severe was the top left and lower right corners. If you turn on HDR in Windows 10, everything gets whitewashed. Way to bright, even with brightness set at 0. I had to turn off HDR in Windows 10 settings and turn on the HDR effect on the monitor to get HDR colors right. Unfortunately the light bleed is so strong that I decided to try and get a replacement, but now Amazon is out of stock. If they are out too long I will just process a full refund. I wish I could have used this monitor for more than a day but with the light bleed, it’s not worth the money to have this kind of issue. I also contacted LG Tech support but an RMA is too long.

    A great and affordable 4k HDR(ish) monitor.

This LG monitor is, in one word, great. Out of the box, it came with a color calibration sheet, and told me about gamma, delta E (<5) , and white balance (3500K). Once activated on the OSD, Freesync was immediately dected by my Radeon Software, which was nice. The monitor looks great, with nice brightness (more on that later) and clarity. It came with both a Displayport 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 cable, as well as a small external power brick. The stand is good, and has some weight to it, however I did not use it, and instead took advantage of the 100mm VESA mounts.Back to the display. I see this monitor as “HDR 10” compatible, and windows 10 detects this as an HDR monitor, but please note, it only has a peak brightness on about 350 nits, making it more HDRish. The bezel sizes are alright, but nothing special. I personally would not use this monitor for Competitive gaming, as the response time is not great and it is only 60hz, however it does have Freesync, so more cinematic games look great. Video consumption and production on this thing is nice as well, and I would definitely recommend this monitor. For the last image of both monitors, the one on the right is the LG 4K monitor, which has an IPS panel. The left one is an older Samsung VA panel, at 1440p.

    Avoid this one

Had this monitor for a little more than two months. It worked relatively flawlessly for that time. I used it regularly with a Mac Mini M1 for creative work and an Xbox Series X for gaming/streaming. Today it will turn on but I only see grey squares/rectangles on the screen. I had discounted reports of this because I’ve generally had nothing but great experiences with LG screens. I can’t get the OSD to come up at all. I’ve had no-name brands of monitors still work nearly a decade later. Less than three months is completely unacceptable.Update June 2021: it took about a month to get the monitor repaired between sending it out and receiving it back. During that time the repair status stayed at ‘Pending’ until I reached out to support to ask for a status. The other interesting thing was it was returned from me to a center in Texas and it came back from California. Support was nice enough to work with but it just took forever.

Low Build Quality – Not Recommended

Purchased this screen as a 4k gaming monitor over Christmas. It worked great for the first 3 weeks. Amazing picture quality, great size, good stand,….and then the quality showed itself. A 3 week old monitor had an entire section go dark. I’ve had monitors loose parts of the back lighting before. Though usually after 7+ years….Not only 3 weeks! Was very disappointing to have to revert to my 7 year old 1080p monitors as the temporary replacement until this was replaced. It’s really dis-heartening when you build a fully new gaming rig for 4k only to have your well reviewed monitor die on you 3 weeks in.I have given a 2nd star purely because Amazon were quick to send a replacement. We are on week 1 of the replacement monitor so will see how long it lasts.

Great 4k hdr monitor for my ps5 and macbook

I was looking for a monitor to connect my macbook pro as well as my ps5 to and found this one to be the perfect one for me. The 4k hdr display is beautiful. This is only a 60hz display so if 120fps is important to you this isnt a monitor to consider. There is no usbc input so i had to buy a usbc to hdmi cable for my mac. There is also no built in speaker. Despite those minor problems I still found this to be the perfect monitor for me considering the price and what I needed

    good unit, horrendous repair service

I still consider this product absolutely gorgeous, but the LG repair service has been piss poor. Whats worse, I have to go through the repair service twice!Long story short, my unit was having an issue where the monitor will not lit after quick/abrupt shutdowns. If I pull the power cord, or really having a power outage while the monitor is on, it will not turn back on. Twice I was able to bring this monitor back to life with a cold reboot; it finally broke after the third try. Luckily I was covered by the very generous 1 year LG warranty and was able to send this unit back around Sept 23th; the unit was received according to LG on the 30th, despite it being delivered several days earlier. After that, dead silence for a good 3 weeks. I checked the status of my repair on LG’s repair tracking site, nothing was updated and my appointment was still pending. Frustrated, I called the customer service and was told a part needed for the repair will arrive on Oct 26th, a Saturday; now I call that bullcrap as my monitor was fixed and shipped that Friday. The next Tuesday I got it back, I found there are two pieces of dust INSIDE the LCD glass. If you care enough to zoom in and see my misery, those two bastards are clearly not your average dead pixels. They are way larger and magnitudes more in annoyance. So here I am again, starting another repair case; I merely own this beauty for 4 months and am forced to waste another month for repair! With that said, if you win the monitor lottery and would not have to go through LG’s service, this is a true beauty. You get a great IPS panel, stunning UHD for the price of a dell 2k; LG’s OSD and features are quite impressive (better than ACER, sorry ACER) as well. But unfortunately I’m a sore loser and don’t have much else to do except for venting my frustration on amazon. If your defective unit is doomed to break, at least do it before the return window closes.

Can’t look at my old monitor the same anymore…

After years of getting just average laptops, I finally splurged on a powerful Dell Inspirion. I like having a monitor connected to my laptop when I’m working, and with a 3840 x 2160 resolution, my old monitor wasn’t going to cut it. After much research I settled on this one. Two months later, I’m very impressed with my choice. For someone like me who has always purchased cheap 20 inch or so monitors, this thing is BIG. As you can see by the photo, it dwarfs my 15.6 laptop. Know what you’re getting if you have a small office space. The visuals are gorgeous – extremely crisp. I never realized how blurry my old monitor was until I started using this. As soon as I plugged in my HDMI cord, it fired right up and after a couple of minutes of adjusting the brightness and contrast, I was in business. The stand is sturdier then it looks, and the monitor itself has 2 x HDMI ports and a DisplayPort – more then enough for meAfter two months of regular use, I’m very happy with this monitor. It’s my first LG purchase, but if this keeps up it may be my new go-to brand.

Significant screen flickering makes it unusable

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

I got this at $219 and for the price I felt I was getting a lot. 60htz, 27″ gaming monitor that can also support 4k and HDR. Unfortunately there is a big catch with this monitor. I have had serious screen flickering. The flickering is noticeable at 60 59htz and 30htz is downright bad. I have an RTX 2070 super and I have used a 70″tv, and 1080p gaming monitor at 60htz and did not have any screen flickering with those screens. I attempted to fix the issue by following microsoft’s suggestions as well as looking up tutorials online with nothing working. At full price I cannot suggest this monitor. Instead I would suggest investing the few extra $100 for a higher quality monitor to avoid screen flickering.

Hesitant to recommended for Macbook Pro

Connecting this LG monitor to a Macbook Pro (2016) with a Cable Matters displayport to usb-c cable will sometimes not show anything on the external monitor. Per LG CS, LG does not recommend using cables that converts one format to another. In this case LG only wants you to connect display port to display port or HDMI to HDMI. Otherwise they cannot guarantee that it will always work. This also happens with the same setup at work (albeit older model LG, but same specs) and different brand cable. The issue here I think is that the os gets confused as to what’s connected to the computer so the usbc port is displaying somewhere in a parallel monitor universe and something within the config needs to be reset. This happens when you wake up your computer from sleep or switching from one monitor to the next. At work, we constantly connect and disconnect monitors – when going to conference rooms and back to our desks. So this is really a setup that has to work 99.999% of the time. Otherwise it gets frustrating having to restart your computer.Your monitor is fine – its not broken. This works all the time with my HDMI port equipped Macbook Pro 2012. When connecting the LG Monitor > HDMI > Apple HDMI/usbc adapter > Macbook during the issue you will get a green screen with a fat cursor – see attached picture. Waiting overnight sometimes helps, sometimes doesnt. USBc monitors are still out of my price range so this will have to do. I’ll be happy if LG fixes this, but not holding my breath and hesitant to recommend.
