Great! Firmware issues, but still awesome.

They sound punchy, crisp, and generally fantastic. The audio controls are a brilliant idea and really make me think we’ll see more of this in the future. They don’t make your ears hot. They are very comfortable and the material is good quality in the places where it countsBattery life is roughly 6-8 hours of real use on a relatively mild volume level. The loss of a star is because they have a very annoying issue:It turns out you MUST use a power-only USB mini cable to charge these through a console. If you try anything else, the software in the set will BRICK.This nukes the headset until you either wait for the power to drain completely (which takes days when they can’t be used) OR until you pop them open and unplug the power pins from the circuit board like I did.VERY frustrating because I can’t charge them while I use them if the battery dies on me. If you’re like me and you sometimes forget to plug them in after a session, you’re gonna screw yourself over.Overall though, I would ABSOLUTELY say this is the best console headset I’ve ever owned in years. The King of comfort, audio, and build quality.

Outstanding Headset for the PS4 Pro!

I am blown away by the LS41 headset. I pre-ordered this headset a few months ago, and it was truly worth the wait. This is an excellent headset; far superior to the Sony Gold headset I used before this. They feel solidly built, the sound quality is exceptional, and installation was quick and easy. I have only had these for a day, but so far, I am genuinely impressed! I would normally wait to post a review, but I like the LS41 so much I thought they deserved the attention. I will, however update this review if I encounter any mishaps or find any flaws. The sound quality on the LS41 headset is outstanding. Deep lows, clear mids, and crisp highs provide a very enjoyable gaming experience. The LS41 headset blows the Sony Gold completely out of the water. I can hear every small detail, particularly sounds that I had never noticed before. Voices and footsteps are loud and clear, and (with game surround sound) it is very easy to pinpoint where sounds are coming from. Everything just sounds better. The boom mic is another of the LS41’s strengths. My voice sounds much more clearly than before. My friends noticed immediately on the team chat, saying “You sound much better today”, even before I had mentioned the new headset. The construction is solid. The LS41 feel sturdy and well built. The metal frame adds heft, but they haven’t felt heavy on my head, even after 5 o 6 hours of gameplay. Lucid Sound really hit a homerun with the volume controls. They are simple and intuitively designed. The left ring controls game volume and the right ring controls the chat volume. Pressing the left button mutes the game sound, while pressing the right button mutes the mic. Another nice touch is the red LED on the mic, which indicates when the mic is muted. You can also choose whether to monitor your own voice or not. I chose to leave it on.Finally, connecting the LS41 headset to my PS4 Pro was quick and easy. The QR code on the booklet takes to a video walking you through the process of setting up your PS4. Just follow the steps and you’ll be setup in no time at all. Don’t forget to click “chat only” in the device menu, otherwise the volume controls will not work correctly. Keep in mind that if you want surround sound (which is one of the reasons for buying this headset) you will need to connect both the USB dongle and the optical cable. I used one of the rear USB ports to keep the front ports available and have had no problems at all. Overall, I am very happy with this headset!

    Don’t listen to negative reviews

I purchased this headset for use with my PS4 and as a replacement for my skullcandy plyr 1 headset that I’ve been using for the past few years. The setup was literally plug and play with the addition of a setting adjustment or two which is explained in the owners manual. The person who left the one star review was definitely experiencing user error and their review should be completely disregarded.I initially purchased the Razer Thresher 7.1 for PS4 and returned it the very next day due to lackluster sound and a cheap build quality. I purchased the LucidSound LS41 on a whim, as it had not been released yet and there were no reviews. The reason I went with the LS41 was because on paper it checked all the boxes for me. It’s wireless, solid metal build and metal pins not plastic like every other company, it has Mic monitoring, individual game and chat volume controls, 7.1 surroundsound, great comfort, and battery life. I figured if it didn’t live up to my standards I would just return it, but there’s no chance of that happening at all. I’ve found my new headset! My only gripe with it is the range compared to my previous headset, but without an actual base station you’re limited in range which is fine if you don’t mind it cutting out while running to the fridge or bathroom. Rest assured though it will automatically connect again once you are in range unlike the comments from the one star reviewer. This is a great high quality headset that will last me for many years to come.

    Superb on the PS4 Pro

I love everything about this. The game / chat volume controls are superb and I love the sound quality. I go through testing almost every headset under the sun as I’ve bought and returned quite a few over the years trying to find that perfect balance. This is a definite replacement for my Arctis Pro Wireless as it is a no brainer. The bad review that I read seems to be a setup issue for the other user as I’ve walked outside in my backyard to take the dogs out and come back in and don’t see any reset/problems.

    Lucidsound Does It Again

First off the LS41 is my third headset from Lucidsound with the others being the LS40 and the LS35X. Sadly my LS40 broke near the earcup but was replaced within days from Lucidsound without argument. I ended up giving them to a family member as I tried something else. Got the LS35X when I played on Xbox and loved it. Ended up selling my Xbox and the headset and bought a PS4 Pro. So enter the LS41 which I knew that I wanted based on past experiences with Lucidsound . The headset is very similar to the LS40 but with slight improvement in my opinion. The drivers seem tuned better as games and music sound crisper and clearer now. The new oval earpads feel better to me even though I think the cooling gel is a gimmick. They seem cool for 5-10 minutes then act as any other earpads out there. Still they are super comfy right out of the box so I’m not gonna complain about them. The microphone is crystal clear from what others have told me. Also still a huge fan of the way Lucidsound handles muting the headset. So easy to tap the right earcup to mute your microphone or tap the left to mute the game audio. Also the voice prompt equalizer settings make it a no brainer to know exactly which EQ setting you are using. My only nitpick and this carries over from the LS40 and is actually worse this time in my opinion is the headset receiver. Once again it’s too thick to stick into the front usb port of a PS4 Pro. This time though they actually added a extender onto it already which allows you to use the front usb ports but the thing sticks out far too much and just sits awkwardly. My solution was to move my external hdd from the back to one of the front ports and plug the receiver into the rear usb. It looks better and works just as well. Lucidsound needs to look at HyperX or Logitech or Sony and just learn to make a usb receiver which just fits naturally into the front ports. Still I highly recommend the LS41 if you are a PS4 only or multi console owner. If you only have a Xbox One save yourself some money and get the LS35X. Direct connect to the console and no cable required for chatEDIT 1/9/2019: Had to move the usb receiver back to the front of my PS4 Pro as it was getting extremely warm plugged into the rear usb port due to the fan blowing out hot air. Kinda disappointing as it looks like crap sticking out of the front and looks like a accident waiting to happen but it works and stays cool for hours. Really wish Lucidsound would just make a normal thickness usb receiver that would plug into the PS4 Pro without an issue.EDIT 1/10/2019: While I think the headset sounds great I am having issues with the headset when I leave the receiver plugged in all night. The headset will either not connect or have a loud buzzing sound which is fixed by unplugging and then plugging the receiver back in. Also doing this during play sessions which is odd. My PS4 is hard wired to my modem and I’m not using a bunch of wireless devices that could cause interference . Contacted Lucidsound and they suggest that I return the unit for another. May just stick with my Hyperx Cloud Flight as it works perfectly albeit I lose the surround sound

    Great Headset for Xbox One

TL;DR: This is the best headset I have owned for Xbox One so far, and I am coming from the Astro A50 Gen 3’s. They have excellent sound quality, comfort, and build quality. Full review below .I have been looking for the perfect Xbox headset for a while now. I tried all the big names like Turtlebeach, Razer, Plantronics, and Astro. I ended on the Astro A50’s due to the best sound quality and comfort, but they still weren’t perfect. They had short battery life and connection issues. So now I learn about LucidSound, an up-and-coming premium headset maker. I saw on their site that their newest (and best) headset, the LS41, was releasing soon. I waited for them to come out on Amazon and decided to order and give them a try.[Pros]+ Sound Quality: the sound quality on these are top notch, voices and footsteps are clear but gunshots and explosions still have a nice punch. I feel like it has the same amazing wide soundstage as my previous A50’s without sounding echo-chamber’y or lacking a punch in the low ends.+ Comfort: these headphones are a little heavier due to the metal construction, but you do not feel that on your head. The ear cups fit around my pretty large ears and don’t get too warm after extended play. I also like that they have a nice snug fit without being too tight.+ Build Quality: LucidSound did a great job here, premium materials and a nice weight make them feel like they will last for the long run. They also just look really nice without being overstated, like every other pro gaming headset.+ Controls: the controls for volume are very intuitive. The left ear up has a dial for game sound, and clicking it mutes. And the right ear up has the same for chat. This makes it nice and easy to get the game/chat balance that you want. The dials also have a physical limit to how much they turn so you know when it is at max.[Cons]- Mic monitoring: while this headset does have built in mic monitoring, it is tied directly to the game volume levels. So when you turn down your game audio to hear chat better, the mic monitoring also lowers and I feel like I end up talking louder than I need to. It would be nice if they release an update to decouple the mic monitoring level from the game volume level, or just raise it overall across the whole game volume spectrum.[Additional]* Chat on Xbox: due to the headset not being Xbox certified due to being cross platform with PS4, you have to use the 3.5mm cable for chat. I don’t count this as a con because the site clearly labelsthsi as the case and the cord comes in the box. It also is just one wire in to the bottom of your controller, and the headset functions fully. So no big deal.

Great build quality, mediocre sound for the money

TLDR:Pros:-LucidSound is known for their build/material quality, and this is no exception-Controls are intuitive-Sound when in stereo modes is solidCons:-“Cold” sound profile overall-Hollow sound profile while in surround modes (similar to Gen 3 Astro A50s)-Pinpointing sound locations is difficult due to sound reduction in surround modesI was looking for a new pair of headphones to replace my Gen 1 Astro A50s. Tried the Gen3 A50s, and immediately noticed to horrendous hollow, tinny sound that they are widely known for. I own a pair of the LS35x headphones and love them, so I figured I’d give the LS41s a shot – for reference, their sound profile is similar to the LS41s in stereo. The LS41s are very easy to use, but the surround is disappointing to say the least. They seem to suffer from the same implementation details of most gaming surround headphones today. Everything sounds hollow – similar to if you were sitting in a giant room, and sounds are being projected at you in all directions from a very long distance. Nothing sounds like it is the correct distance from you, always far away. For example, in Rainbow Six Siege, when wearing Gen 1 Astro A50s your footsteps sound right on top of you and full of force. With the LS41s, they sound muted and soft, almost like you are having an out-of-body experience, if that makes any sense. Bottom line, returning and just going to buy a pair of Gen 2 Astro A50s – they nailed it YEARS ago, and nobody can seem to get their act together with surround these days…

LS41 Wireless Headset Review from a PS4 Gamer

I preordered this Headset and received it on the day of release (31 DEC 18). I was super exited to try it out considering I was still using the PS3 Sony Pulse headset that are on holding on for their final days after a good 4 years.PROS: Sound was clear, connection setup was easy, mic mute super accessible, the dual mic system is pretty cool, and they felt durable enough to last the 4 year mark my Pulses made it to.CONS: The MAJOR problem I had with these is you cannot control game/chat audio like described (it is literally just basic volume control). If you walk 3 feet away from the wireless adapter, you will lose connection and have to re-setup the audio device settings all over again. If you wire into the controller, your sound settings will be completely off to the point of where I had the volume all the way up in the settings and on the headset. If you have a small head they will feel loose, “noise cancellation” not so much, and the fact that this headset went on sale for $179.99 the day after I received them in the mail after paying $199.99 as a pre-order was a slap in the face.To add on top of this all, when I wrote in to the company with great detail as to the reasoning I am returning the product, it seemed like a huge disregard as they emailed me back asking if I would like assistance on troubleshooting the setup process.I am extremely bummed Lucidsound did not hold up to the standard I think most would expect for a $200 headset.

Probably need to be an ‘advanced’ user.

I’ve been using the LS41 since it was first released (So around a month now). Please take this as the perspective of a layman:Pros:- The most comfortable headset I’ve ever worn. So comfortable that I’m almost willing to look past every other flaw it has because it’s so hard to go back to my old headset.- The sound quality when it actually works is fantastic.- The mic is a pretty decent quality. I dig it.Cons:- It has good days and bad days where it makes loud ‘popping’ sounds. It’s because the wireless connection is getting too much interference. It might momentarily disconnect and reset your mic setting and then you’ll start to hear ambient sound around you and it’s really jarring. On the bad days the headset will be unusable.- The headset has a ‘dead zone’ where the volume slider will just die. You’ll probably need to set your system’s default volume to be much lower to account for the deadzone. If you like to sometimes have a lower volume then this will be something you’ll have to get used to. I have encountered this issue both with AND without a sound card. I’ve also encountered this same issue with other headsets from LS- So it seems like this may be an intentional design decision.- Their customer service was incredibly average for me. I don’t think the rep was knowledgeable about the product- Felt like they just had a script to run down. They also closed my support ticket on me before my issue was really resolved. This was my first wireless headset- It even works with surround sound to boot! (kindof)- If you want to use the surround sound functionality you will need to have a sound card that supports dolby live. I did not! So I tried to do my research and grab a sound card that supported dolby live. It is shockingly hard to find sound cards that support dolby live and also tout supporting Windows 10. If the store page you are purchasing a sound card from DOES NOT EXPLICITLY SAY “Supports Dolby Live” then it won’t. Don’t just trust a forum or a website. I purchased the Xonar U7 MKII 7.1 USB DAC with Headphone Amplifier because somebody somewhere said it did and they complained that many cards these days do not advertise that they support it- Well. Turns out I should not have trusted that source. To be clear: If you’re somebody that is not even sure if your computer has a sound card built in or if your sound just runs from your mother board then I’d say steer far away from this headset. If you know what you’re doing then you may encounter none of these issues.I got these because I was tired of dealing with wired headset cords and I wanted to treat myself. I was looking for a solution to my frustration. Unfortunately I just found more frustration.

Fantastic headset! (owner of a LS40 previously)

What can I say? I was blown away by the headset when I first tried it last night. For first time Lucidsound clients, you’ll first notice the very high quality of the packing. The headset comes in a high quality pouch with everything you need to get started with it, whether you’re using it with a PS4 or Xbox.As a LS40 user, setup was straightforward and I didn’t bother watching the instruction videos, thus won’t be able to comment on those. The headet paired automatically with the USB dongle, something I don’t recall happening with the LS40. I had to use a pin to set the dongle in pairing mode. So that’s another positive point for the LS41. It’s really plug and play. The PS4 setup doesn’t changes from the settings I had for the LS40 so I skipped that step.I launched Red Dead Redemption 2 and took a ride to the mountains. The surround effect is glorious and you can pinpoint the exact location of a tiny bird or the roar of a cougar stalking you.You can easily tell Lucidsound improved the drivers used for these headsets.I have used them for a couple hours and did not experience a single disconnection or distortion in the sound. I tested this by going to the kitchen which is easily 20 feet a way and even with a wall separating me from the PS4, sound didn’t cut at all. So not sure what that other reviewer must have faced but you can rest assured that there isn’t any problem here.I did not try the mic yet but if it’s half as good as the mic on the LS40, then I doubt I’ll be disappointed in this department…Finally and my biggest satisfaction is the build quality of the headset. The LS40 already felt premium, aside from the headband which was plastic and could easily break. But the LS41 is in a different league. This is a headset that I am proudly hanging next to my audiophile headphones (Beyerdynamic and Sennheiser used for watching movies, music…). You can tell Lucidsound wanted to make those special. They are extremely comfortable: earpads are amazing and the headset is tight on the head but not too much that it’s an issue unless you have a very large head. Again I have no idea what the negative reviewer was on about when mentioning that the headset could fall off smaller head. This just can’t happen with this headset…All in all, I strongly recommend this headset. I am very very happy with my purchase and look forward to using it on my Xbox next and try the mic.
