So close to being a great board

I love so much about this board, and while the cons are minor in a general overview, one particular weakness means I’ll likely be switching back to an older board.Pros:Keys are mech, and have a great feel (Kailhs are much better than Outemu IMO)The LEDs are bright, vibrant, and the pre-programmed modes are really fetchingBoard feels sturdyCons:Media controls are garbage. I use my keyboard to control my music while I game, and while this keyboard offers play/pause, stop, and a calculator button (why calculator?), there is no skip forward or backward controls for the tracks. Not being able to skip songs seemed minor until I had to live without the function. I’m astonished this functionality wasn’t included, and despite how much I love everything else, this shortcoming is enough for me to revert back to an older board. Sad Panda. YMMV. If track skipping was included, this would easily be a 4 or 5 star review.

I love the Kailh Brown switches

Good mechanical keyboard for the price, Kailh Brown switches feel really good to me, in the “tactile” category (a slight bump without the loud clicky sound of Cherry MX Blue and clones) a little stiffer than Cherry MX Brown but softer than Cherry MX Clear, which is just about the perfect stiffness to me. Not too soft (Cherry MX Browns feel just a bit too soft to me) but also not so stiff they feel like they are pushing your fingertips away from the keyboard.Pros:- Quite a bit for the $60 I bought it at! Would buy again. Too many to break down, I don’t want to get that longwinded about itCons:- RGB brightness even on the brightest setting is still a little too dim for me, but acceptable/usable for the price- I definitely dislike the font and style used for the number and special typing character keys, but also acceptable/usable for the priceThese cons are subjective, some may consider them deal breakers, I find them minor enough to overall love this keyboard anyway, since I love the feel of the Kailh Brown switches – and that I consider super super important over my minor dislikes above, enough to feel good about giving it 5 stars.

My favorite purchase in years! Enthralled with my Blue-Switch Rosewill.

I was a fast and accurate typist until membrane keyboards showed up. I struggled for years with the membrane keyboards, hated them, was never able to get used to them, didn’t know there was another choice. Since I am not a gamer, I was unaware of the mechanical keyboards. When I read about the mechanical keyboards about a year ago, I ordered a Rosewill Brown-switch model immediately. I loved it from the first second, but have given it to my husband and decided to get a Rosewill Blue-switch. For me, an even better choice than the Brown-Switch. I just love that it feels like the pre-computer typewriters. Just gave away my age, but I don’t care. I’m a happy, happy camper. I love typing again.Solid. Great quality. Nice design. Convenient feet for placing it on an angle, if desired. I just feel it’s classy.Added comment (2/24/20): Over 4 years after my purchase, and I as happy as I was on the day I received my Rosewill Keyboard. It’s had heavy use. The letters on some keys are faded a little, but no problems with this keyboard since day one.

Rosewill mechanical – good keyboard. USB can be an issue and letters tend to fade after use

Keyboard types well and feels durable (only time will tell). The brown switches works best for me, but other colors may fit you better. I would suggest reading up on which keyboard style is best for you and get that one. There are also mechanical key testing sets where you can have a sample of each type of key (brown, red, blue, etc.) that you can play with, which I’m sure will help aiding you in finding the right keyboard for you.As other reviews have stated, the USB is a concern as it can bend/break. Taking the advice of a few, I have gotten the clamps to keep the wires from bending, which will prolong the use of the keyboard (see image).Clamps I used: “Bluelounge CableDrop Black – Cable Management System”After some time of use, I have decided to get the O-rings as the bottoming out was a bit loud for my family. This solved the issue of noise without getting in the way of how the mechanical keyboard feels.O-rings used: “Cherry MX Rubber O-Ring Switch Dampeners Blue 40A-R – 0.4mm Reduction (125pcs)”The lettering on the keys tend to fade a bit with only a few months of use (especially WASD if you game). I bet after a year or longer some keys may not be visible. A major thumbs down for this issue. Could be an isolated issue, but if it is like this for everyone else, definitely think about whether this is going to work for you or notOverall, it does what it needs to and feels good typing. The fading of the keys is a bummer and the USB issue, though you can fix the USB problem by getting clamps

    An almost perfect keyboard.

This is the second Rosewill keyboard I have purchased and I love them both. Cherry MX switches and a quality all metal base and enclosure make for a solid feeling and comfortable keyboard. The only issue with these keyboards is the cable connector. There is no support for the cable when plugged in and this connector will be subject to a lot of strain in most uses. I’ve solved the problem on my keyboards by installing (2) CableDrop Mini management devices on the back of the case and routing the cable through these to provide strain relief. (see photo)

Mini USB Connector Only. The Worst.

I bought this to replace my previous Rosewill RK-9100xR Cherry Blue Switch keyboard (I suggest you go find that older series and save yourself the woe.) Whose genius idea was it to replace the standard, permanent keyboard cable with a removable mini (not even micro) USB port? Remember all those old phones you had with mini USB? Remember how they wore out to nearly useless after heavy use? Now you can duplicate that unwanted experience in a $100 keyboard. Run.It’s been 9 months, and the amount of times the cord gets disconnected (or just disconnected enough to stop registering) is infuriating. Who would want this flaw in a gaming keyboard? Can you imagine your keyboard suddenly clocking out mid-game? Wow. I’m considering repurchasing my older Rosewill keyboard, but this flaw is honestly enough to make me back away from Rosewill keyboards entirely.

    Pretty good until it breaks

It was a good product while it was working, but the USB connection failed after a few months. Online research shows it’s a soldering issue at the point of the USB input port. Customer Service was very weak in terms of responses (fair turnaround for response time via email, but the actual content was very lackluster). I was finally able to RMA the product but only for a replacement which I assume this issue will occur for after some use as well. It took more than a month to get a replacement after getting a very long run-around. I have purchased plenty of Rosewill products, but I think I will stay away from their keyboards in the future.I would not recommend this product because it may break and dealing with the customer service rep was a terrible experience.

Excellent – feels and sounds great

Another great Rosewill product. It exceeded my expectations. Had never had cherry browns before for daily use. The tactile feel they offer for actuation allows very fast and accurate typing, which I do for 10 hours a day for technical/coding work.It also feels great in gaming, the tactile actuation of the brown switches allows precision that you just cannot get with average membrane or even cherry reds. The board is really solid, and pretty heavy – which I like a lot. Might be the heaviest board I have ever had. Has an expensive and durable feel. The thick threaded cable is a nice have, and for me, my machine is on the left, so no issue there. However I do not expect it would be an issue for me personally even if my machine was on the right. Cable is long enough to manipulate. The board has a really understated and professional look. Matte black with white lettering, Rosewell logo is blacked out, slightest red outline under the key caps. It is really a beautiful board in its subtlety. Matches a more professional workstation if that’s your thing. (Instead of RGB, for example)The brown keys sound great too, if you are experienced with cherry browns, then they will be exactly what you’d expect. Nice warm full sound, even when you bottom out. The “ping” on this board is minimal. I have heard loud ping on other brown and red boards in the past. The Rosewill is pretty quiet in this regard! The function keys for media play are convenient as well, and I find I am using them regularly. Volume, pausing audio, etc. Disabling the Windows key is nice too, as I sometimes assign macros to that key for work. Or, in certain games, I hit it by mistake. It’s nice to be able to toggle the key’s Windows use.LED lights on the board are a bright blue. Angle is pretty good with the back feet opened. I personally prefer a high angle, and these do a solid job. Also for those people like me who may accidentally snap the little feet off – OR, find one foot retracted periodically – this will not happen here. These feet are very tight on their track. You can feel resistance as you move them, which is a great feature.***Anyway, I absolutely recommend this board to anyone wanting a better typing experience generally, or gamer wanting more accuracy. But I specifically suggest it for any pro typist, coder, or related field. It really performs in that regard and makes hours of typing so much more fun and pleasant, where precision is critical.***

Great Cherry MX Brown keyboard for general/office typing

I really love this keyboard, the feel is great, and it’s very solid. It’s also much more workplace friendly than other options. I chose the brown as it’s about as close the the original bucking spring style feel but less pronounced “click”. I do actually like the feel of the bucking spring keyboards slightly more, but there’s only one manufacturer I’m aware of still making them, and they aren’t office friendly.—-Reducing to 2*, while I do like the keyboard, the one I am using at work started misbehaving (errant key entry, repeat entries, etc) without even touching the keyboard. Also worth mentioning, a couple of the keys (right shift, left ctrl and a couple others) have the text nearly completely worn off. Will probably switch to a Corsair or a Das keyboard. The knock of the star comes down to a few things… First, the printing on the key caps has started to wear, it’s been less than a year now, and I don’t think I’ll be able to even read some of them within 3-4 years, which I guess you can bring to regular wear, as typical membrane keyboards tend to only last a year or two before they need to be replaced, but I would expect a bit more for a switched keyboard. If I could knock another half star it would be for the printing on the keys as well as the lack of basic media/volume keys… As much as I don’t want to see a dozen special keys, I’ve come to expect volume and play/pause on a modern keyboard. For reference, I use autohotkey to map Win + [. ] \ to volume down, up and mute respectively, and play/pause is usually space.Overall, the experience has been very good for as office friendly as you can get with a keyboard that you can still feel and hear. Physical keyboards at the proper hieght and distance from your person are also far less likely to create repeated stress injury (carpal tunnel)
