Great headset stand with some nice extra features

I was not planning on spending this much for a stand. I had my eyes on several much cheaper options but eventually settled on this. It is rock solid and will not move. The RGB option is great though for my setup I use only one color. The extra USB ports are handy and free up some ports for other things. I haven’t yet used the 3.5 jack but I’m sure it works fine.My one area of concern involved the connection between the stand and my computer. I’ve read several reviews about a non-standard and proprietary connector and I was a little disappointed. I really dislike those sorts of things because of compatibility issues and difficult replacements. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the stand today and found that the connector is a standard SuperSpeed Micro USB. This type of Micro USB is standard on all the external hard drives I’ve used. I suspect that this cable is necessary for the USB 3.1 ports. For those who were turned off by the potential of yet another cable, fear not.Overall, a very nice (but expensive) choice.

If you can find it on sale for less than $50, it would be a steal.

Having used other headset stands of similar size and design, but made of plastic, its well worth it that this one is made of aluminum. My old headset stand, while obviously much less expensive, was so light that any movement of the headset cable would move the stand and placing the headset on that plastic stand would cause it to bend from the weight. This stand suffers from neither of those issues. Its rock solid, doesn’t move around and doesn’t flex from the weight of my headset. I did not buy this to use the built in sound card, so I am not commenting on or reviewing that aspect of the device. Though Windows did recognize it immediately and switched the audio and mic devices, which I then had to switch back. So that’s a good thing for people who do want to use it for that purpose. The RGB lighting functions without the Corsair software, defaulting to a rainbow pattern. As I don’t own any other Corsair devices, I don’t plan on installing the software required to change the RGB. The fact that it functions without the software does tell me it has some sort of on board storage that’s saving the lighting pattern, so I would assume you could install the software, change the lighting to what you want, then either keep the software from running again or uninstalling it. I may update this review if I end up doing that later. The Corsair Sail logo defaults to a basic white color, which is fine for me as I have all the lighting in my system set to white as well. The dual USB 3.1 ports work just fine as well, so it seems the entire unit can function without the use of the Corsair software. Even the sound card does function, as I mentioned before because Windows recognized it, you just won’t be able to adjust the settings or switch between Stereo and 7.1 mode without that software. It is a bit on the expensive side, especially if you don’t plan on using all its features, but its quality is well worth it.

    Surprisingly nice.

I didn’t think I was going to like this stand as much as I do, I thought the price was a bit ridiculous for a glorified headset stand. However, the two USB’s are great, it added another USB to my rig which was sorely needed, and the RGB’s give my headset a nice look that I enjoy now. The LED’s aren’t super accurate, for example the white is a lot bluer than any of my other peripherals so it does not show a true white LED. This is pretty much limited to the Corsair logo on the stand though as I notice it is significantly darker on any color than the base or my other peripherals.Getting past that, I am actually glad I bought this thing, it goes very well with the rest of my Corsair products.

Worth the extra cost for ambiance – Might knock out audio but easy fix explained

This is more of a want than a need purchase in order to complete your desk/pc setup look & feel. Any headset stand could work fine but the LEDs, audio quality, and solid construction of this stand make it worth the cost. The stand is metal and has some weight to it. The entire bottom side has a no slip cover on it. Those two aspects combined keep this stand study in place and no worry of toppling over or sliding around on your desk. The LEDs look nice and have many color and display options through iCue software. You can customize the individual sections of lights, the blinking patterns, and color schemes. It can be totally customized to match your setup. The one annoyance I had with this is once you plug in and update drivers, it might set the stand as your audio output. If it does, this will knock out your speakers or headset from playing sound. You will have to go into system sound settings through your control panel and disable the device for sound. I am not sure how this will affect audio being used with 3.5mm jack but if you have a headset plugged into the usb on the stand, it might not play without disabling the device in sound settings. This was a very easy fix but took a minute to figure out what the issue was.

Caused Problems with Corsair Void Pro Headset

This stand caused a hardware conflict with another product that they currently manufacture. The Corsair Void Pro headset can even be bought bundled with this stand on Amazon, so beware. I had been using the Void Pro headset for four weeks without any issue. I had an up to date installation of Corsair’s iCue software. Everything worked beautifully before the stand arrived. When I plugged in the ST100 stand to a USB 3.0 port on the motherboard it was automatically added to the iCue software. Things appeared to work fine. However, the sound would drop suddenly from the headset after around five minutes. After a reboot the sound would work again on the headset. But then it would drop randomly again. I unplugged the ST100 stand’s USB from the PC and rebooted. Everything worked properly again, no drops. I have no doubt that I could get this thing working properly but at this price I shouldn’t have to deal with workarounds for hardware conflict issues on two products made by the same company (and sold as a bundle on Amazon). The stand is pretty (as it should be for the price) but it isn’t designed to hold the Void Pro headset as it smashes the cushion on the headband in the middle and deforms it. I never return things. This was returned to Amazon.PROS: Pretty LED lights, software controlled light patterns, stand is nice and heavyCONS: Built-in soundcard caused issues with headset made by Corsair, expensive

Not perfect. May be better with some software/firmware updates.

Pros:- Solid, metal build. It is not going to warp, no matter what headset you use.- Rubberized bottom helps keep it in place. Though I REALLY wish they had picked a different spot for that info-square on the bottom, as the print on it is NOT rubberized and negates some of the grip.- USB 3.0 passthrough x2. I haven’t tested voltage or bandwidth yet, but just the fact that I can put the wireless headset tranciever and recharge cable for my headset BOTH attached to this is just soooooo convenient.- Built-in soundcard is nice if you’re running an older/cheaper motherboard.- Made for the iCue ecosystem. Was plug-n-play for me with the rest of my Corsair products.Cons:- RGB colors seem off…watered down. Had this right next to my PC which is loaded with other Corsair RGB (RAM, fans, AIO, lightstrip), and it seems VERY dim. The 255,0,0 pure red just gave me a sortof pale color, almost pink. Especially the Corsair logo, which you can barely tell even has color. In stark contrast, the rest of my Corsair RGB things were so bright I wanted to turn them down. I can’t tell if this is the LEDs or the plastic in front of them is too thick.- Built-in soundcard is wasted if you have a newer motherboard with decent onboard audio. Or if you already invested in a PCI-E soundcard or USB DAC.- Has issues dropping from iCue. It’s like the program just randomly forgets this is plugged in, the reconnects. And everytime it drops, it resets the lighting back to default, which is rainbow spiral(?). And unlike other Corsair products I have, I cannot set a “Default Hardware Color”. So every time it drops, or I reboot the system, it defaults to this rainbow spiral until iCue boots and recognizes it. I’m hoping this is just a software issue and will be patched out.Other thoughts:- I’m genuinely curious about the USB voltage and bandwidth, especially because other reviews here have been critical. I’m also curious if I could use the dedicated DAC USB 3.0 ports on my Gigabyte x470 board to pump additional voltage into this.- I bought into the whole Corsair ecosystem when I built my newest PC. Case, Commander Pro, RAM, AIO, Fans, RGB strips, Keyboard, and now this. And the only consistently negative thing I can say about it is; iCue is a hot mess. It gives me constant issues with JUST Corsair’s own products. Their hardware seems so good, but it all is supposed to be tied into this single program that just consistently lets it all down. iCue just makes their products seem worse.

It’s all they got so it’s what I get

Purchased this to hold up my new void series headset from corsair that I got for Christmas. Wish it had wireless charging and that the side USB port actually charged fast enough to use the headset while it was on. But none the less if you want the matching and only available corsair stand this is what you get. The rgb lighting is neat and syncs up with the rest of the corsair rgb line for some groovy light shows. I haven’t used the speaker feature yet as I don’t need it so that was just a bonus.Pro’s: super sturdy base and arm made from aluminum and syncs up with the RGB line up like a champ. Holds headset like it should.Cons: USB port on the side does not charge fast enough to use while plugged in. No padding on the arm to dissipate headset weight causing the headset head pad to become deformed if left on the stand to long. Headset pad might become permanently squished down if you’re using the void series from corsair.

    RGB Fanboy. I’m sorry

First off, I think whoever brought RGB mainstream deserves an award. That being said I dove head first into the colored goodness of having as much RGB components as possible. Corsair happily fed my obsession by having every piece of external peripherals made with RGB. If they ever get their software to work properly this would be genius. Both the bottom and the Corsair logo on the top light up. The USB port on the base can give power and data. I don’t care about the sound pass through as I use a high quality dac for my sound processing. My Corsair void also has built in 7.1 surround. In conjunction with my rgb keyboard, mat and headphones, also all from corsair I am getting my daily fix of RGB. Hugely positive comments from anyone who visits my office. My computer tower is also drenched in RGB. Corsair, take that RGB coaster idea from Razer please!

Works if you’re ok with iCue Software (meh)

2.5 out of 5 stars. It does work, but disappointing software gimps it’s RGB for me, especially at the price point. The Good: Sturdy, built well, looks professional even tho it has RGB, and let me be clear, it does work great – only when iCue is running. I use the usb port for the Void Pro Wireless. It does have an analog plug-in if you already have other headphones. The Bad: Needs iCue to be running for it to work (at least for me). This is a deal-breaker for me. Read below for more.TLDR: iCue increases idle temps on my 3800x by 5C+ and idle cpu power draw by 30-35%+ and is not worth it.Longer explanation: iCue is honestly pretty good at RGB settings and keeping things simple while being able to allow for complex lighting shows if you really want to spend the time setting it up. However, it is terrible at optimization. Fresh setup of my Ryzen 3800x idle temps go up 5C+ easy with iCue running. CPU power consumption increases ~30-35% at idle. This isn’t worth running iCue imo. Shutting down iCue disables the RGB on the ST100. No amount of usb power changes in the OS or Peripheral settings in BIOS help, but am still welcome to any suggestions. The sad part is this could likely be addressed with a software update and/or firmware update. I’m sad about it cus I highly doubt we’ll see an update to improve either any time soon if ever. Suggestion to fix: Make a iCue lite which doesn’t have monitoring software. It only loads hardware rgb profiles that are set by the user that’s it no creation – no macros, dpi settings, etc. I bet they would get a lot more people going ‘full corsair’ with their rig.

    Colors are wrong

Corsair Gaming ST100 RGB Premium Headset Stand with 7.1 Surround Sound

I just replaced my first one that didn’t work out of the box. Neither does this one – so either the batch is bad or the product itself is bad.Note; I have the Corsiar keyboard (K95 Plat) and the colors work perfectly. In the first picture you see green – but it should be yellow and the rgb values are (255, 255, 0).In the second picture you see yellow – but it should be orange and the rgb values are (255, 96, 0).Note: Yes, it is true that when you lock your Windows system (or iCue otherwise loses connectivity) your keyboard can go do a default hardware style, however the ST100 stand will start color cycling.I don’t know if the actual manufacturer reads posts here, but I’d like to know if the color accuracy is going to be fixed, or I’ll send back my replacement as well and keep a watch on the product for hardware updates and perhaps buy it again in the future.
