    It’s SOLID

Never having owned a mechanical keyboard prior to this, I wasn’t sure what to expect. This thing is really solidly built. Like I could knock someone out with it if need be and I feel like it would still work just fine. The blue switches are very clicky, it’s like watching an old 80’s movie set in an office every time I type – which was what I was going for, honestly. That said, I feel like I might be annoying people when I type, and based on the extra switches included in the box with this one, I might have to order myself a bunch of brown switches, because they feel just as good but are WAY quieter. But yeah, if you’re looking to get into the world of mechanical keyboards, this feels like a good place to start.

Best Keyboard I ever owned; typing feels so much nicer (it won’t really make you type faster though.)

Actually the best keyboard I ever owned.Yes, it has the annoying blue switches that will disturb everyone in an office setting and I can confirm that they are quite loud, but man, if you are alone and you can use these, they feel *fantastic*.They keyboard I had before was a nice “mem-chanical” keyboard that tried to be a mechanical one, but it just wasn’t the same. The keys are much easier to press, they press regularily (no spelling errors on account of some keyboard buttons taking longer to push down from others) and if you write pages and pages each day, your hands will thank you for getting this keyboard as it is much easier on the hands than most other desktop keyboards I have used… actually my hands cry much less with this keyboard than any other I have ever used.HOWEVER!!! Don’t believe that this keyboard will make you a faster typist. It won’t mechanical keyboards don’t really do that. Okay, fine, they might give you an additional 5 words per minute – maybe – if you are already a very fast typist. If faster typing is what you are after, then I recommend getting a keyobard with keys that are very close to the board. Most laptop keyboards will be like that. I get faster speed on my crappy laptop keyboard than on this one because the buttons themselves just make contact faster, so there you go, just get some chap $12 bluetooth keyboard and you’ll be happier if speed is what you’re after. This keyboard is about comfort more so than speed. Also, the many RGB options are quite nice as they will allow you to color match your glowy devices and see in the dark with your keyboard so that you don’t have to get up to turn the lights on unless you want to.But most of the options are just kind of gawdy. In reality, you will probably just pick a color you like and matches and stick with that one, so don’t be impressed by all the color options. Okay, I do have to say that this is a plus; a lot of nice and fun ways to play with this keyboard are presented with some of the “wave” and “react to presses” schemes, but they’re a bonus, you shouldn’t buy the keyboard for them. Really a unicolor board would be just as good for you if you know that the color will match whatever you have, but the many options will allow you to keep this board for future use with different colored gear you may have in the future, so you might see it as an investment.Oh, one more thing if – *IF* – you can actually find switches for this keyboard, they are replacable if you wish to switch from blue to brown switches, but the price for which I found them online and the effort it actually takes to remove a single switch and replace it (as well as potential for breaking something) it just isn’t worth it. Don’t buy this if you intend to replace the switches. You will be much better off just buying another keyboard in this price range with the brown or red or whatever otemu switches if you do want key variety.Anyway, Lovely Keyboard – feels great to type on, nice extra features, sturdy design, no reason to go above the price of this one – it has it all.

    Redragon keyboard

This keyboard was partially for my grandson to play games and for me to use with my office computer. I work out of my home and have used quite a few brands of keyboards. Don’t buy cheap ones. I have started liking gaming keyboards for use in my work. They are easier to type on than expensive name brand normal style keyboards. This redragon is no exception. The quality is excellent and expect to use if for years to come. I will definitely look at redragon products when I am need of computer peripherals. What is more important than a good keyboard when you spend hours at your computer working. Keys may be a little noisy, but they feel great. Highly recommend this product.

    Best gaming keyboard ever!!!

True mechanical keyboard. LED backlighting where any key can be set to any color. Waterproof. What more can you ask of a gaming keyboard? Works great in the office, too, but the blue switches under the keys are a bit loud if you work in close proximity to others. If you’re on speakerphone or seated close to others, better to get a Redragon keyboard with brown switches. If you’re looking for a totally silent keyboard, stop looking at mechanical keyboards and buy a lower cost and quieter membrane keyboard that doesn’t have replaceable keys. The Redragon K556 and K557 are top-tier gaming keyboards, providing true mechanical operation, and cool LED lights as a bonus! No software is needed to control the LED lights. Look up the keyboard sequence, most of the patterns and colors can be selected using the keyboard by itself, easy. Colors can be turned off, used as a simple solid pattern, or set to pulsing rainbows, waves, and other tricks. No complaints. Will buy again! I’ve bought several Redragon keyboards and mice so far, all great! Much better value versus Logitech and others.

Keyboard function is excellent – Solid keyboard! Backlight software and modes need a bit of work.

Excellent key action, nice and clicky. I really enjoy the backlighting. However, one of the features I was hoping for was a ripple effect on keystrike. This keyboard has such a setting, but unfortunately, unlike its higher priced competitors, there is no backlighting present until the key is struck, at which point the ripple effect spreads away from the key. This makes the mode all but useless, since without backlighting (Prior to the key strike), they keys all appear to be completely black making identification difficult. The mode should have an option of always on backlighting, with a keystrike causing the ripple (with different colors) across the alreadly lit keys. This is a minor complaint, the mechanical keyboard function is as good as any, and I am extremely happy with its performance. (Typing this comment using it). They keyboard is heavy which is good! It doesn’t move unless you want it to move. It does have multiple backlighting modes that are customizable. The software to control the backlighting is a bit buggy (sometimes locks up while making a mode change). A more visible coating would be needed to make the key characters easily visible without backlighting. All in all, a great value for a mechanical keyboard with RGB backlighting at 1/3rd the price of the competition!

so good. It seems to be built like a tank

So far, so good. It seems to be built like a tank. I expect it will last a long time. The blue switches are very clicky, but that’s what should be expected.. Actually, I think the clackyness is more attributable to the bottom out of the keys than the switch itself. The switches operated independently of the key caps make a barely audible click. Speaking of the key caps, they seem very durable, and the LED light shines through clearly. One thing about the one I got: there is a tactile difference in the index finger bumps (J and F) — one is less pronounced than the other, but that is not a huge deal…I guess. The “wrist rest” is not that — it’s too small to be that. But I like it as a place to tap my thumps when I pause to think while writing. I think this aspect of this KB is better for me than the ones with no frame around them. All around I’m happy. BTW, as pictured, the switches are Outemu and the + shaped version and not the anti-dust [+] shaped ones, which should mean there would be no problems using different caps or o-rings to dampen the clicky sound. I like that they’ve given a couple of extra flavors of switches to try out. It lets me sample the other ones. Pretty sure now I might be in the market to get one with browns for work, though I wish I could choose to get this KB design with browns instead of having to choose another — again I like the “wrist rest” and extra frame real estate all around that other models don’t seem to have. My instruction manual is missing some of the pages for English, and i can’t find the manual online anywhere…so that’s a minus, but not to the KB itself.

Best keyboard ive used for in the past 13 years

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

This is the best value keyboard out there. Im a huge fan of cherry blue switches and these here are no different on par quality and has that type writer esc sound for all us clicky key lovers out there. The rgb modes are varied and can be customizable with the software. The wrist rest is a bit lacking i have around 8.25 inch hands and i find only half my palm on it but you get used to it. The wrist rest is a very smooth texture that isnt a finger print magnet. The keyboard comes with extra brown, black, red and blue switches to change out but only 2 per kind. The keys are buttery smooth to type without any hard force especially to game on due to the keys being spaced well to where i dont have to move my had positioning while gaming. All in all if you are looking for a banger mechanical keyboard for around $50-60 that isnt sub par i cant recommend this enough.

    Bang away! Nice mechanical keyboard.

A good old clickity clack keyboard with some cool lights. I am not a game player nor even much of a typist rather I am a programmer. I grew tired of the crappy keyboard I was using which felt like a sponge and was so lightweight it would slide all over my desktop. When I went looking for a good sturdy mechanical keyboard I decided to try the Redragon 557. I have only had it a few days but so far I am very pleased.Pros: Heavy, sturdy, loud, good tactile and audible feedback, and attractive with very nice back lighting.Cons: Software in the box doesn’t work on Win10 (had to DL from redragonzone.com). Keyboard had a high pitched coil noise on low powered USB ports. Plugging it into a USB3 port silenced it.—I would recommend this keyboard for home use or programmers who have been locked away in their own cages. It might be too loud for a big office environment. If you like clickity clack, this Bud’s for you.—Edit: I ran into an issue with this keyboard which I have seen mentioned about other keyboards and mice, that issue being that the keyboard fails to start when the computer is cold booted. I searched extensively and never found a solution. The problem arises when the computer boots, powers on the USB ports while in BIOS then powers down the USB before Windows boots and powers the USB back up for the second time. Upon the second power-up the keyboard fails to light up and is unresponsive thus requiring the user to unplug and replug the USB cable to get it to work.-I found the solution on my system. Go into the BIOS screen at boot time by pressing F2 (or whatever your computer requires) and disable legacy USB support. This will prevent the first USB power-on cycle. The USB ports will not power up until the computer loads Windows and the keyboard will function normally and not require re-plugging. The only downside to this is that a USB keyboard will not function in the BIOS boot screen after you do it. In my case it was on a laptop with a built in keyboard so I could still boot into BIOS but be aware that without a PS2 or built in keyboard you will lose the ability to boot into or change BIOS settings.

The only thing I’ve ever hated more than this keyboard is my ex-wife.

I’ve had this keyboard for 4 months now and I’ve had two switches fail. They didn’t completely fail but became unresponsive 25-50% of the time. This did come with extra switches so I was able to replace them, but I still wouldn’t expect them to fail in just a few months. EDIT: Another failed switch in about 6 months.Update: I. Hate. This. Keyboard. Constant issues with the switches, dropping letters in emails, constant typos in messages, unresponsive in games. This is the worst piece of hardware I’ve ever owned. I’ll be buying a different keyboard soon and will make it my mission to steer people away from Redragon keyboards.

    Fantastic

If you’re looking for a solid, 104 key KB mechanical board, don’t bother looking any further. This is my 2nd RD keyboard, after having bought a K555 and having been delighted with it. These use OUTEMU blue switches (if you’d like a full breakdown of what the different kinds of switches offer up, there’s an article on PC Gamer that goes into great detail-google “mechanical keyboard switch types”) which I have become very fond of and consider worthy alternatives to Cherry switches.I do a lot of typing, some coding and a fair bit of gaming on this board, all to great satisfaction. I have a slick tabletop, my previous, pricier mechanical board (among other failures) often drifted during typing, which was quite annoying, the K555’s cleats keep the board in place as if it were nailed to the desk. Mind you, I love this board and am giving it 5 *, however I do wish the cable was braided, though I imagine it would raise the cost. The wrist rest is effective, but I prefer to work without it, that said if you have wrist issues I recommend using a separate dedicated product.Other reviewers have already provided in-depth overviews regarding the lighting features so if RGB bling is your thing, the RD has you covered. I like having backlit keys, but I don’t need the distraction of all the other effects, preferring a constant glow, and should you wish to change the colors of specific keys RD has customization so you can literally make each and every key a different color or shade. Note that though the board comes with a mini-cd, if you don’t have a cd-drive you can readily download the software and manual from their site at “redragonusa.com/downloads”, or you can just use the FN key+ other keys shown on the product listing’s image sidebar.Owning 2 RD boards now, I can tell you they’re built like tanks, in fact this board replaced a 3-year-old Razer that was continually giving me problems of one sort or another. On my 2nd day after having this board, in a moment of supreme clumsiness I managed to spill coffee over a good 70% of its surface, followed by yours truly blistering the walls cussing myself out. My board just laughed and said, “Chill dude, I can take it”.I was able to remove all the affected keys easily with the included tool (they came off very smoothly) cleaned everything up, dried it under a fan for 20 mins and remounted the keys. There was absolutely zero negative impact on the board’s functions, lighting, typing, etc, all worked perfectly. It’s now 3 weeks later at the time of this review, during that time the board saw plenty of multi hour typing sessions, along with a full test of its lighting options before restoring my preferred setting and basically, the coffee spill never happened. I imagine if you were to dunk it in aquarium you’re likely to not have the same sort of relief, but as a professional klutz this was a very welcome benefit.I hope my review helped your buying decision and I promise not to let any upvotes go to my head.
